Brides Up North talks to the man capturing the magic, Denis of Deneemotion Wedding Videography.

How did Deneemotion Wedding Videography begin?

.

It all started with filming and producing couple of documentaries that had nothing to do with the wedding industry. However, one fine morning I was asked to assist my college friend with filming a small wedding in my home country. Unbeknownst to me, it appeared to be a huge wedding and I was the only operator there!

.

Luckily, I used my creative eye and the newlyweds were happy with the outcome. Obviously, I got hooked, did another one and realized there is so much potential, but not much innovation yet. So I began filming here and there and 7 years later I am a full-time wedding videographer doing 30 weddings a year and am totally happy about all this.

.

.

What sort of technology do you use and what sort of finished products do you produce for the couple?

.

We try to stick to the latest technologies and sometimes I wish there were no new cameras on the market. We use Full High Definition DSLRs with multiple lenses.  This approach gives a cinematic touch to the films. The picture is sharp and rich in colours. We produce Blu-rays as a standard, but we still provide clients with DVDs if they wish. We also have our own designer Romain who creates beautiful covers and labels for the finished product.

.

.

What is your favourite thing about being a wedding videographer?

.

I would say my favourite part is making clients happy. This is an unique opportunity to fully use your potential and be creative . It is so magical capturing couple’s day! Another thing that makes us happy is an opportunity to travel around the UK and visit all these ancient castles and beautiful venues. Thus, each film is unique and different.

.

.

How do you get couples to relax on the day?

.

We usually meet couples beforehand, so on their special day they know us and feel comfortable. We ask for their preferences and ideas and try not to be in their guests’ way throughout the day. It is important to capture guests having a good time.

.

.

Any advice to any brides who don’t like to be filmed?

.

The ability to use different lenses enables us to film from a distance, so we are not in their face and they hardly notice us. When we get a nice shot (and this is one of the advantages of using DSLR), we usually show it to a bride so that she feels happy and more relaxed. They also have an opportunity to review preliminary copy and make amendments to the final version of their film.

.

.

Why does a couple need a video as well as photographs?

.

Hiring a professional photographer and a videographer is an investment in your future that helps a couple to recapture all important moments and emotions. Photos and videos are there not only for them, but also for their kids and future generations.

.

.

.

.

If you were videographer at the Royal Wedding, what advice would you have for the couple?  What would be your "must have" frames?

.

I would definitely have informal shots with them and also some backstage and getting ready. So my advice would be to allocate some time for fun!

.

.
Any memorable weddings that you have captured?

.

We had lots of stylish weddings, but my fave was the wedding of Dylan & Rebecca. It was a DIY wedding, so everything was made according to their taste (which matched mine). I loved the simplicity and creativity yet elegancy of their accessories and stationery.

.

.
Any funny stories to share?

.

Well, since we film with DSLRs, we had one wedding where the bride approached us after the ceremony and asked why we were taking photos and not filming. Luckily, she wasn’t worrying much and when I showed her footage, she was amazed at the quality and told everyone during the evening reception about this new magical “camera”!

.

.
What sets Deneemotion Wedding Videography apart from other wedding videographers?

.

We are trying to approach each wedding with creativity and have this contemporary and cinematic touch to our films. It is not a routine for us so far, so we don’t get bored filming and editing. We are still expanding our portfolio, so it is essential to make sure we work hard and treat each client equally. Oh, and we don’t use those annoying slow-motion or black & white effects. It is 21st century for goodness sake – time for new, more interesting shots!

What can a couple who book you expect on the day?

.

Two charming, relaxed professionals making the most of the job they love.

.

.

What areas do you cover?

.

We offer our services nationwide and do destination weddings. In fact we have two weddings abroad this summer!

.

.

What is included in your "package"?

.

There are three packages available and all of them include first dance and cake cutting, so we won’t disappear before these essential moments happen. Our most popular Gold Motion package includes a highlights clip (our favourite bit) and Platinum Motion – bridal and groom preparations.

.

.
