Say It With Flowers, A Real Wedding – Lisa & John

Brides Up North Featured Supplier, Lisa of Alwena Rose, sent me her beautiful Real Wedding to share on the blog this morning.  Since Alwena Rose specialises in wedding and event hire gorgeousness, Lisa’s own wedding was jam packed with fabulous details as you would expect.  Soak it all up!

Lisa says: John and I are from Wrexham, North Wales. We decided however, that we wanted to get married in a place that meant a lot to us both – Cornwall. And so, we hired a place called Trevenna exclusively for three days, which is a collection of converted barns in beautiful, rural countryside on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.  We had an intimate wedding on 2nd August, 2010 with our closest family and friends. We were married in one of the converted barns and then held our reception in a stunning marquee in the grounds. It was truly beautiful

I wore an Italian lace fishtail dress and cathedral length veil, with a vintage side comb in my hair. My bridesmaid was my wonderful sister and she wore a champagne tea length dress. The men wore brown suits.

Our style was elegant shabby chic and our colour theme was ivory and natural shades of brown / cream. The flowers were rustic and were placed in the back of chairs, as table settings and we had a big floral heart above us in the ceremony. Our centrepieces were rustic bird cages filled with seasonal flowers. Extra touches included twig hearts, cupcakes as favours and lots of beautiful candles and lanterns.

We had a harpist for the ceremony and drinks reception followed by a jazz band in the evening. Guests were kept entertained with a vintage candy bar and a post dancing portion of fish and chips!

After our honeymoon, we celebrated by throwing a big party near our home for all our friends and family at Carden Park, Nr Chester on 20th August.
