Dream Venue: The Black Horse, Beamish

Julia Braime

.

When I first visited The Black Horse, Beamish I knew immediately that I had discovered something special.  This wedding blog Dream Venue is hidden amongst the countryside in the neighbouring area of the infamous Beamish Museum in County Durham, riddled with history dating back to the 1700’s. The surrounding gardens, orchards, resident red kites and spectacular views are just a few of the many things that draw people into travelling wide and far to enjoy the Black Horse’s wonderful dining experience.

.

I like this Dream Venue so much that I asked them if they would like to host my Brides Up North North East Tweet Up 2011, and guess what: they said that they would!  Today, I chat to Grace at The Black Horse and find out a little bit more about this special setting.

What facilities are on offer for weddings at the Black Horse?

.

We have two beautiful rooms available to hire here at the Black Horse. The first being the George Ridley Room, Gallery Bar and Terrace. This is a magnificent room is complemented by original stone walls, two open fires, high ceilings and bare oak beams which enhance the grandeur of the setting. The George Ridley room is attached to the Gallery Bar and heated outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the rolling countryside. The George Ridley can be used as a private dining room to seat up to a maximum of 45 guests for a sit down meal or used with the adjoining Gallery Bar to hold up to 80 people for an informal buffet.

.

The second room available for hire is The Orangery. This spectacular, light and airy space provides a completely unique venue for weddings, black tie balls and parties. The Orangery can accommodate a maximum of 60 guests for a sit down meal and up to 80 for an informal buffet.

.

The Black Horse is set in 33 acres of stunning countryside, which gives us the opportunity to offer you a number of areas for a marquee to be placed. We only use a reputable and reliable marquee company who have over ten years experience in the industry and know the venue very well. Having this close relationship with the marquee company enables us to create your dream setting completely bespoke and unique to your wedding. It also has the added benefit for those wanting larger guest numbers.

.

The Black Horse is a unique venue with great flexibility that can be booked for any occasion whether it be a wedding, a special birthday, an anniversary, family celebrations, a christening or large corporate event. Whatever the occasion, the facilities available here are endless whether it be inside or outside, upstairs or downstairs, formal or informal we can reserve an area and cater for you.

.

Can wedding guests stay over at your venue?

.

We now have Huckleberry Cottage, which is our brand newly refurbished detached cottage set in the idyllic Beamish conservation valley with fabulous panoramic views over the rolling countryside. The holiday cottage is ideally located to discover Durham, Northumberland and the Dales, offering tranquil countryside and city life, with an abundance of wildlife and rare birds such as a pair of red kites.

What sets your venue apart from others?

.

Your wedding day is the most important day of your life but choosing a venue in County Durham that has beautiful surroundings and offers great flexibility and value for money can sometimes be a challenge.

.

.

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price for your wedding packages?

.

Every couple has a different expectation of their wedding day and the secret to the perfect day is finding out what things are the most important for the couple and ensuring you understand their wishes and the importance of them. With this in mind we do not offer specific packages but prefer to tailor each wedding to the couple’s needs.
