Make A Wish! A Real Wedding, Kelly & David

Remember that amazing image of the excited and nervous groom from my Fabulous Photographer interview with David West Photography?  Well, this evening on the wedding blog he’s back, plus his beautiful bride and the rest of their Real Wedding!  Such a softie…

Kelly tells us more: We got engaged in April 2010. David put the ring on my finger while I was asleep and sent me a text proposing so I would wake up in the morning and get the text.

.

We married on 30th July 2011 at St Albans Church in Earsdon, then the reception was held at the Grand Hotel in Tynemouth.  The church used to be my parish church before I moved and we have always loved the Grand Hotel, and though it was the perfect location overlooking the beach.

I chose a quite simple, tight fitting dress with lots of detail on the train and bust, and it is all gathered to one side. I bought the dress from Truly Madly Deeply in Monkseaton.  I carried a simple but elegant bouquet of white Singapore orchids and pink calla lilies.

To match our regal colour scheme, my bridesmaids wore a traditional A line bridesmaid dress in a gorgeous royal blue colour with an ivory sash.

The church was definitely the most emotional, but I couldn’t pick a single separate favourite part of the day, it was all just perfect from start to finish.

We used Simply Bows and Chair Covers for the chair covers and table decorations and the event dressers to decorate the evening function room. By Wendy created for our invitations, Bluebells made up our flowers and the Cake Dec Centre made our wedding cake.

.

We chose a traditional round 4 tier cake with white icing and Royal blue ribbon, decorated with calla lilies and diamantes. We also had each tier a different flavour of sponge. We had chocolate, lemon, fruit and Madeira sponge.

.

We had a beautiful weeping willow wishing tree from By Wendy which allowed guests to write special messages or advice on tags and hang them on the tree. Everyone thought it was a fantastic idea and thought it looked beautiful.

.

As another special touch, we also had my daughter do a speech during the wedding breakfast which was a bit of a tear jerker.

.

.

.

.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to slow down, sit back and take in each moment, as it all goes too quickly and before you know it’s over.

.
