Saturday Girl: A Wedding Blogger On Work Experience At The White Room Sheffield

On Saturday 19th November 2012, between the hours of 10am and 5pm, this wedding blogger was officially in heaven.

I was at The White Room Sheffield playing Saturday Girl for the day and helping out the gorgeous Chloe with her Cymbeline Designer Weekend.  The idea of the weekend was that Brides in love with Cymbeline designs could make an appointment to view gowns from the latest collection which Chloe does not normally stock, showing for one weekend only.  As well as a whopping 10% off any order placed, the happy brides were also fed champagne and brownies (by yours truly) and took home a special Brides Up North limited edition shopper goody bag.

Like I said in an earlier blog post, don’t think I was this excited since I was shown the fashion cupboard during my first week at Glamour Magazine all those years ago.

.

I arrived just after ten, and was shown around by Chloe, who spent time talking me through each design in the Cymbeline collection and well as the other gorgeous gowns in stock including Jenny Packham, Stephanie Allin and Claire Pettibone, the beautiful accessories and where to find the kettle!

.

After helping my host to pack some goody bags, practising my telephone voice to schedule appointments and trying on the Rachel Simpson Shoes and Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe and DC Bouquets headpieces, I remembered that I am a blogger and pulled out my Canon to capture the moment.  These images let you get a feel for how stunning The White Room Sheffield and it’s stock really is!

Before I clocked off at 5pm we had four individual one on one appointments with brides to be (and Chloe had a fifth at 5:30pm).  Chloe closes the shop to passing trade when she has a bride in, so all the attention is completely focussed on helping the lucky lady choose her dream dress. 

.

Some girls came in on their own, others with their Mums, but each spent just over 1.5 hours trying on gorgeous gowns and picking my brains for wedding ideas too.  Three of four found their perfect dress – all Cymbeline – and put down a deposit, and the fourth just couldn’t choose between two of the designer’s beautiful lace wedding dresses.

Between appointments, Chloe and I fluffed the display dresses, took appointments and caught up on some industry gossip!

I had the most fabulous day.  The White Room Sheffield is a luxurious yet relaxed boutique and a lovely environment in which to chose your wedding dress.  Chloe has a “no pressure” attitude, and I think the personal service really resonates with brides and their mothers, especially for such an important purchase.  I can understand why the brides were happy to buy heir gowns here.

I left feeling full of excitement for all four ladies (as well as full of bubbly and brownies!).

When can I do it all over again?  Sign me up!  In the meantime, enjoy the pretty…
