Advent calendars at the ready Brides Up North!  It’s only ruddy December!  How the bejeezus did that happen?

.

I personally love the festive season, twinkly winter weddings, chestnuts roasting on an open fire and all that, and will be bringing you some seasonal treats on these wedding blog pages over the next month.

.

So, lets start as we mean to go on with a festively gorgeous vintage glam bridal fashion shoot at gorgeous Yorkshire wedding venue The Mansion at Roundhay Park.  I can personally vouch for this venue and the amazing team from Dine Services as it was the setting for the inaugural Brides Up North Yorkshire Tweet Up back in September.  It is also the venue for one of the Brides Up North Wedding Exclusive Wedding Fairs next February.  Do you have these dates in your diary ladies?

This shoot, sent to me by Shelly of Toast, is a mash up of bauble bling, giant windmills, twinkles, vintage bunting and stunning dresses.  By ‘eck it works.

.

Be inspired!

The shoot was organised by Vicky at Sugarplum Creations to showcase her new 2012 collection ‘Vintage Glamour’.

.

Vicky says: Last year was all about the Sparkly Crystal Bride but this year is all about the chunky Vintage Glamour look.  Each piece is handmade from vintage brooches and jewellery broken down into new and exciting things; such as tiaras, necklaces and bracelets. I knew this would work with Ian Stuart’s Killer Queen Collection so I quickly got in touch with the girls to organise the shoot!

I really wanted to convey the elegance and creativity of everyone involved. Being able to work with Ian Stuart, Cymbeline Paris and Jenny Packham all in one day was an honour and I wanted to make pieces to compliment every aspect of the different designers.

Shelly says:  Vicky got in touch with me to shoot her new collection along with a selection of beautiful dresses from Hayley at The Bridal Collection in Harrogate. I don’t normally do straight up shoots – I usually like to do something a little bit more rock n roll, but the chance to shoot Ian Stuart frocks was too good to miss. I invited Rachel at Simply Vintage Events to provide us with a beautiful eclectic vintage backdrop to go with our Jenny Packham and Cymbeline Paris dresses, whilst I created the giant pinwheels which were real talking points and the paper flower backdrop. Rachel also provided the enormous Christmas baubles.

.

The amazing flowers including the frilly tulips in the birdcages and the set with the candles and orchids, were created by the genius Fiona at Firenza Floral Design – her talent knows no end.

Hair and make-up was by the lovely Emma at Make Me Up by Mac and of course the backdrop was the stunningly beautiful The Mansion in Leeds – we all love that staircase (although I must have gone up and down it a million times on the day!).

.

Since there were so many beautiful dresses to shoot, I invited my good pal Paul Joseph Photography over to help me shoot it all. And even our styles are slightly different, we still ended up getting the odd shot which are very similar! Thanks go to everyone who helped the shoot run smoothly.
