Sweethearts! A Romantic Real Wedding In Yorkshire – Toni & Richard

This morning’s Real Wedding, starring Yorkshire Bride Toni and her new husband Richard and sent to me by Dominique of York Place Studios is an absolute love fest.

Let’s hear from beautiful bride Toni: Richard proposed after nine months of us being together. He did it on a Monday lunch time (so unexpected). He had practiced playing my favourite song – Bruno Mars, ‘Just the way you are’ on his guitar all morning and when I got home he played and sung the song to me and once he finished, he said how much he loved me and how much he wanted to be with me. Then he popped the question! I couldn’t believe it! I was so shocked! However I obviously said yes!

We were married on 15 October 2011 at Sledmere House, near Driffield, East Yorkshire.  We chose Sledmere House because it’s such a grand building, with loads of history and beauty.  We wanted a romantic theme with pink and love hearts and everything we chose seemed to suit the venue perfectly!

My hair dresser was Helen Guy and I did my own make up.  She did an amazing job considering it was a fresh new look and didn’t look anything like the trial I had months before. Helen is a wonderful person and she made me look so pretty for my wedding.  I can’t thank her enough for what she did on the morning of the wedding.

I chose an ivory, A-line, one shoulder, Justin Alexander dress.  My mum and I were in Scarborough one Saturday afternoon in January, and she suggested that we should see if we could find any wedding dress shops. We found The Wedding Room,’and thought we’d have a look inside. I tried on at least eight dresses. My mum took pictures of me in each dress and then we went for some lunch. After scanning through the pictures, I knew which dress I wanted.

.

I chose that dress because I felt like a princess in it.  It’s the only time I’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought ‘Wow, I look so beautiful!’ Another reason is because when I walked out from the dressing room in my dress and saw the look on my mum’s face – I knew it was the one!

My bridesmaids were in a gorgeous raspberry pink dress with diamantes under the bust. They were floor length and with halter necks.  I went shopping with one of my bridesmaids, where we just happened to come across the dresses, and coincidently there were three in all the sizes I needed!

My florist was Rafters (In Driffield) who were fantastic all the way through and so helpful.  I carried pink gerberas, pink roses, wax flower, ruscus and bear grass.  Richard’s mother also did the church flowers, and they were amazing.  Thank you!

I found it so emotional when I was saying my vows to Rich! However he helped me keep it together by whispering ‘Squeeze my hand as hard as you need to!’ and after that, knowing I was going to be his wife got me through it!  I love him so so much.

We had a four tired ivory cake by Carrie Clark of Bridlington with pink and ivory ribbon on each tier. We also had sugared roses on the top and floating down each tier.  We had fruit cake on the bottom, and chocolate and vanilla for the other tiers. Gorgeous!.

We had a beautiful white, Rolls Royce Silver Cloud to take us from our main reception to our evening do at The Bell Hotel, Driffield.  We shared a bottle of champagne on the journey.

We had an amazing two weeks in the Maldives on an Island called Meeru.  It was so good being able to spend a whole two weeks together by ourselves and enjoy reminiscing about the wedding and how our future is going to pan out.  We enjoyed the beautiful white sands and clear blue sea everyday.  We didn’t want to leave!
