Happy Monday Brides Up North! With temperatures set to soar this week (after this cold snap a predicted 15 degrees Celsius is going to feel totally tropical!) I thought it was time for a burst of Moorish sunshine here on the wedding blog too! This styled wedding inspiration shoot from wedding stationery designer Poppy of Papaver Designs and a group of very talented North East wedding industry suppliers took place in Durham in mid January, but you might just as easily be on location in Marrakech!
.
Let the sun shine!
.
Poppy says: Both Vintage and Middle Eastern patterns play a huge part in my influences and always end up in my work somewhere. From posy florals to henna inspired designs, I love the patterns and colours from both. The contrast of the bright Moroccan colours against the soft pastels of vintage really works well together.

The Moroccan meets vintage photo shoot was to launch a new range of lanterns from Papaver Designs and to introduce a new mini sized lantern for place names. The lanterns have multiple uses including hanging from trees, place settings, table decoration and venue decoration but can also be used as gifts for any special occasion.

2012 has been the start of lots of new ideas for Papaver Designs and I wanted to start it off with an amazing photo shoot and a re-vamp of the website too. The Papaver Designs blog has been increasingly popular with each week bringing a new paper make called ‘Wednesday’s Wonders’ and has proved very popular with ideas for DIY brides.

The photo shoot took place on a very cold Tuesday morning on top of a hill outside The Black Horse, Beamish (the location for the first Brides Up North Tweet Up North East!). The Black Horse is situated in picturesque grounds and hosts wedding receptions as well as being famous for its gastro bar menu.

The shoot was not only about Papaver Designs, I wanted to show that the North East is full of talented business owners and really wanted to show off what we can do. They not only donated their products and services but gave props and their time to help out on the day. I was in awe, and have spent the last few weeks being overwhelmed at the generosity of people.

The day of the shoot was amazing fun and was a great laugh even if the weather was in minus numbers! You would never have believed it from the photos but Laura (the gorgeous model) was frozen.
.
I am so pleased with how the photos have turned out and could not have asked for a more perfect team to work with. The photos really do speak for themselves.

Really loving the great work on show from everyone involved. Especially loving how the soft muted colour palette gives a great ‘Classic English’ wedding feel yet the props and decorations add a real twist. Super! x
Poppy is an absolute delight to work with and her lanterns are absolutely awesome. I now have one hanging in my kitchen permanently – and it’s beautiful!!! Very talented lady, and yes it was a COLD day, but great fun to be involved. These pictures are amazing! Emma XX
