Jimmy Choo I Do! A Real Wedding In Celluloid – Gemma & Shane

Posted on: 23/03/2012

.

Well, I think I’d marry anyone if they presented me with not one, not two, but three pairs of Jimmy Choos on my wedding day!

.

Take note – I can be bribed.

Seriously though, Choos aside, today’s groom Shane is such a sweetie!  I DEFY you not to tear up at the opening part of this magical wedding film at Peckforton Castle, send to me by the lovely Sara of Marry Me Films

.

Usually, the Real Weddings that I feature are made up of just pictures, or a mixture of pictures and videos, but for today, I’m going to just let the motion pictures (and our lovely bride Gemma) do the talking.

.

Have a lovely Friday.  I’m sorry that you’ll be mascara-less for the rest of the day!  I blame Shane.

.

Gemma says:  Shane proposed whilst we were on holiday in Las Vegas. We were staying at the Bellagio, and on our first night we went for drinks in a bar over looking the fountains. Shane ordered a bottle of champagne and asked me to marry him. Thankfully he did not get down on one knee or I would of died from embarrassment – he did ask if I wanted him to though. It was perfect.

.

We were married on 24th June 2011 at Peckforton Castle.  I had always wanted a dream fairy tale castle wedding and after looking at a few castles, Peckforton felt magical.  It was a very easy decision.  The Great Hall was so stunning, that I would never have wanted to get married anywhere else after I saw that.

.

We chose a colour theme of purple and orange inspired by the birds of paradise we have in the garden of our family home in Spain.

I choose a beautiful dress from Caroline Castigliano. I made a few adjustments adding gorgeous lace over the top of the dress and a Swarovski crystal belt and I carried a bouquet of the most amazing purple vanda orchids and orange calla lilies by Exhibits Florist.

.

The bridesmaids dresses were from Fairytales by Sherry in Newcastle under Lyme. The older girls wore a Cadbury’s purple strapless floor length dress with a bow on the one side and gorgeous that tied around the top and trailed down their backs.  The little ones had dresses designed by Sherry, amazing organza dresses with a lovely big bow at the back – they looked like little princesses.

We choose a rather unusual cake from Cakes4fun , it was built up of rice paper feathers and covered in glitter (you couldn’t sneak a piece of this cake). The cake its self was made up of lemon sponge and chocolate ganache. As well as a layer of fruit cake to keep within tradition.

.

The evening touches included a pic n mix from Augustus Gloops – which went down extremely well – not a single sweet left by the end of the night – and a caricaturist, which was great fun, a lot a Facebook profile pictures were changed to these in the days after the wedding.

.

Our first dance was to Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls; Shane then went into a full scale Michael Jackson routine to Billie Jean complete with hat and sparkly glove.

.

We finished the night off with bacon and sausage sandwiches – the perfect way to end the perfect day!

We had our honeymoon in New York –  five amazing days of sightseeing and shows on Broadway meant we were well and truly ready for a rest in Bermuda. A beautiful island, with stunning beaches and it was a perfect way to relax at last after the hectic build up to the wedding and then New York. We spent lazy days on the beaches mainly however did find time to fit in swimming with the dolphins.

.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to enjoy every single second – I’m sure its been said a million times before but it goes in the blink of eye.  I would also urge anyone to have a videographer – Marry Me Films have given us the best gift after our wedding – we can relive it all any time we want.

.

.

Congratulations Gemma & Shane!
