Wednesday Wed-spiration! Easter Citrus: Fresh Yellow, Green and Cream

I am very happy to introduce a new regular feature here on the wedding blog!  Yippee!

.

Regular readers will know that I have dabbled in inspiration boards for a while now, but without any real regularity.  One of the perks of being a professional wedding blogger is that its my job {pinches self} to trawl the internet searching for wedding pretty and I have amassed quite the collection of ideas and images behind the scenes.  I am very slowly getting in to Pinterest too, but sometimes I like to keep my ideas private – for future posts and pretty surprises.

.

The only issue I have with inspiration boards is that they do tend to cater to the person compiling’s own taste.  The whole point of Brides Up North is to share with you a real range of ideas, price points and styles, so that is why I have tended to steer pretty clear in the past.  However, now I have back up!  My first recruit is lovely lady, bespoke bridal headpiece designer and creator of the most pretty inspiration boards around – Katy of What Katy Did Next.

.

You may have seen Katy in action already on Brides Up North in this beautiful Alice In Wonderland styled fashion shoot (with one of the pieces named after little old me!), and if so, you will understand why I think she is the lady for the job!

.

The plan is to share a new inspiration board in this time slot every week, either compiled by myself, the creative Katy or a guest blogger- and that guest blogger could be you:  get in touch with your own ideas and inspiration boards!  We’ll be discussing our inspirations behind the images too so it’s simply going to be a whole load of lovely.

.

If you are a little less arty but in need of inspiration and still want to play along, we will also be taking requests for colour schemes and themes and making bespoke boards for my readers.  Please contact me to suggest a theme or colour scheme.

.

So, let’s get this party started with an ‘Easter Citrus’ wedding inspiration board, by Katy.

Katy says: Ignoring the freak weather we are having, the past weeks have been a huge inspiration for this board. Spring had definitely sprung and bursts of these citrussy shades would be perfect for an Easter wedding. Mixing the lemon yellows with grass green, ivory and natural hessian is perfect for a classic wedding or a more relaxed affair.

.
The polka dots and daisies add a sprinkling of fun to the mood board, which could even transfer onto flower girl’s dresses or your groom’s tie or socks. The short Lyn Ashworth wedding dress could even sport a colourful vintage petticoat underneath. I chose loose boho waves for the carefree bride but for a more formal wedding chic up-dos are perfect!

.
My favourite part of the board? The florals. The fresh white with hints of yellow and green are what makes the theme work as a whole. The simple shades are perfect if you wanted to add another colour into the mix without a huge clash, such as deep purples or a pale pink.
