I’m currently in recovery from the last Brides Up North Wedding Exclusive of the Spring season at Sarah Beeny’s Rise Hall.  What a way to finish a great run of shows!  All of the Wedding Exclusives (and the even larger Brides Up North Super Showcase) have been record attendances for the beautiful venues that I work with but this one was an especially brilliant day, with 290 brides (!) and their families coming to see the Hall and our amazing exhibitors.  More on that later.  Watch out for more shows in your area this Autumn.  Exhibitors can contact julia@bridesupnorth.co.uk for details.

.

So, onwards and upwards as always, lets kick start the week with some pretty!  This gorgeous North East wedding was sent to me by wedding blog reader and Real Bride Jemma and with some of my favourite North East suppliers on her team, it was always going to be a cracker!

I proposed to Anthony in November 2009 at the cinema. I set it all up on the big screen before the film along with his favourite music. Although he was a little startled he did say yes!

We tied the knot at Beamish Hall on 16th March 2012 with family and friends travelling from all over the world to be with us which made the day even more special.

.

We chose Beamish Hall as from our first visit here we knew this was our special place and where we could see ourselves getting married. It is so magical here and beautiful that no where else was as perfect for us.

Pale pinks and greens were our colour choices. I wanted to keep it very simple yet vintage looking with pearls, fringed tulips that looked like lace and selections of various vases for the flowers provided by our florist Adam Prest and plenty of candle light.

I chose a very simple yet fairy tale like dress by Morilee from Wedding Secrets. I accompanied this with a ivory sash with pearls and crystals from YAP Bridal to tie in a big bow at the back.

.

My bouquet was a mixture of roses, peonies and many other beautiful assortments. I have never had such beautiful flowers and we were amazed at how much care and detail had gone into each display. We have even sent my bouquet off to be preserved in a special frame as it was that beautiful at Precious Petals. Thank you Adam for all your care and attention that went into making our day even more spectacular!

.

My bridesmaid wore a long flowing pale pink dress from Debenhams which she chose herself. Our little flower girl wore a silver green dress by Monsoon embellished with detail around the waist which matched in with my dress.  The boy’s suits were by The Wedding Wardrobe

I spent the night before the wedding at Beamish Hall with my mum and got ready there on the morning. Anthony travelled with my dad, his brother and dad to the venue. I did miss him overnight and ended up not being able to sleep with such excitement.

.

We had a string trio, The North East Soiree for the ceremony who played absolutely beautiful. It made the day that much more perfect. Thank you Gordon for playing even tunes by Morrissey for our special day.

Its so hard to choose a favourite part of the day as it was all so beautiful and perfect. I have to say though seeing Anthony at the end of the aisle made everything else just fade into the background and I realised what I had been waiting for all along

We chose our friend Dave Knaggs of Torcross Photography to take our photos. We wanted to have someone who we felt comfortable with and who we were able to enjoy taking photos with. He did an excellent job, thank you Dave!

We chose a 3 tier butter sponge with plain icing from Marks and Spencer which tasted absolutely yummy. Our florist decorated this then with an array of flowers to match in with the table centres.

For the favours we ordered French macaroons in various colours from Fenwick’s Bakery and tied up each bundle with ribbon and a cute tag of our names and wedding date.

We hired a magician, Paul Lytton who kept guests thoroughly entertained in the gap between the day and night. I still don’t know how he does any of his tricks! We were all amazed.

For the evening we chose the resident DJ at Beamish Hall to host our first dance and disco. They catered for every piece of music we asked for and more and I never stopped dancing. We hadn’t prepared a first dance but once the music started for ‘it had to be you’ we ran on and it all came naturally. Turned into quite a cheesy dance but it really was one of the best parts of the day.

For our honeymoon we went to a little island called Meeru for 2 weeks in the Maldives. This was just paradise.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to just try to get as much sleep as you can the night before as I only got an hour’s sleep!  Also remember it is your day and your day alone. Do all that makes you happy and it will all be perfect on the day.

.

.

Congratulations Jemma & Anthony!
