Twinkling Ivories! A Real Wedding In The North East – Rachel & Ben
Posted on: 08/05/2012
.
I’ve recently been working on a column for Wedding Magazine all about a trend I have noticed for beautiful all white weddings (like this one and this one), so when this submission from Stan Seaton Photography pinged into my inbox I just knew that I had to share Rachel and Ben’s gorgeous wedding in the North East on the wedding blog’s swirly silver pages too!

Rachel says: Ben asked me to marry him in December 2009 in New York at the Statue of Liberty. We then took a trip to Tiffany’s to choose the ring. It was all very special.

We were married on 11th September 2011 at St Augustine’s RC Church and afterwards at Wynyard Hall. Wynyard Hall is perfect for a wedding – a fabulous setting with breath taking views & grand rooms. We knew we wanted a traditional wedding and Wynyard seemed like the perfect choice.

The bridal party was very pampered on the morning of the wedding – Nick from Hobson & Holmes did our hair and Cocoon were on hand for make up and pre-wedding treatments. Our photographers Stan Seaton Photography and Joey Weir Videographer were with us throughout the day.

I chose a wedding dress by Naomi Neoh Atelier. It had a couture ivory French lace bodice with a French lace jacket and full silk chiffon skirt.
.
My bridesmaids wore full length ivory gowns by Dessy.

.
My favourite moment was meeting Ben at the bottom of the aisle and seeing him for the first time on our wedding day.

We opted for a romantic theme for the day, with a neutral colour scheme. Our favours for the ladies were hearts on a ribbon – each had a different love quote message attached. We also had the letters ‘R & B’ next to the cake and ‘Amore’ and ‘Love’ scattered around the venue. Real dried ivory and green hydrangea petals were used for the confetti to add to our neutral colour scheme. Ben is a very keen golfer so having the tables named after his favourite courses around the world added a personal touch.

Our flowers were by Wild and Wonderful florist with chair covers and bows by Ivory White Events.
.
We had music from Opus Four String Quartet – during the ceremony and drinks reception – and then we were entertained by Lauren Housley Band and DJ in the evening.

.
.
.
Our cake was a three tier in ivory from good old Marks and Spencer – sponge with white chocolate icing.

.
After the wedding we honeymooned in Mauritius – Ben wanted to surprise me and so I had no idea which part of the island or where we were staying. He did not disappoint!

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to be as organised as possible as it really does pay off – I had lists, lists and more lists! Enjoy every minute – the day goes so quickly
.
.
Congratulations Rachel & Ben!
