Today’s Real Wedding comes all the way from a land down under Yorkshire, and was sent to me by Lisa of Just Bespoke Wedding Planning and real bride Victoria.
.
With some Australian touches to make the big day personal, this is a beautiful English wedding (that dress! those blooms!) with an Aussie twist, and all the more gorgeous for it.
.
Toss another shrimp on the… ok, I’ll stop now. Enjoy.

Victoria says: We got engaged in Central Park in New York on 20th February 2010 and were married on 9th July 2011 in Sutton on the Forest, York.

It was a British summer wedding with Australian influences – Nick is Australian and many of his friends and family flew over from Australia for the wedding.
.
The wedding was held in the village church which is a 16th Century church. It is beautiful and full of character, a real traditional English setting! The reception was held in a marquee at my parents place. The marquee and our home were brought to life with the wedding, it will always be memorable

I wore a gorgeous lace Pronovias dress, and carried a bouquet of avalanche cream roses by Wards The Florist.
.
My bridesmaids wore gorgeous purple maxi dresses from Mori Lee that we found in Glamourous Gowns in Farnborough.
.

.
.
My favourite moment has to be when we said “I do”: I felt like it was just Nick and I, alone in a world of our own.

We travelled in style – beautiful vintage motors from Exclusive Wedding Cars.

We played up the English/ Aussie theme with table names and baskets of flip flops or “thongs” – take your pick! Guests also received welcome bags in their hotel rooms full of English and Australian finds such as Mrs Bailey’s Yorkshire pudding recipe and sweets from Oz.

We chose a three tier cake by Imaginative Icing, with one lemon layer, one chocolate and one traditional fruit. Instead of a traditional cake topper we used a figurine of a couple embracing on top of the cake.

We planned a balloon release to kick off the evening entertainment, and then following the Jazz band from York University, hired a DJ from Alive & Sound – he played a variety of music to cater for all ages. He even played some Aussie classics.

After the wedding, we honeymooned on safari round the Serengeti and then a beach holiday in Zanzibar.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to stay calm, any mistakes or things that go wrong only you will know as no one else knows what was planned, so they will see it as perfect. The day will be amazing, whatever happens, rain or shine. However, Excel will become your best friend!
.
.
Congratulations Victoria & Nick!

I love this, love the little Australian and English touches that clearly make it unique and personal to Victoria and Nick.
