Love Lights: A Real Engagement In The North West – Laura & Ed

It appears that we are having a bit of a celebration this week on the wedding blog – everyone seems to be getting engaged! Congratulations if you just said “Yes!” and welcome to the party! You can also keep up with the blog on Twitter and join our growing community over on Facebook.

It’s clearly engagement season as lots of lovely love stories are just flooding my inbox and I adore reading each and every one (I’m nosy like that). I have something ‘tres’ (and that’s a clue!) special lined up for you tomorrow so make sure to drop in and see me, but until then I am thrilled to share this stunning engagement shoot sent to me by Brides Up North reader Laura and North West wedding specialist Andrew Ward Photographer.

Laura says: Ed asked me to marry him on Friday 4th November just before I left for work. He had the day off and when I got home I was welcomed with a bunch of flowers and a cup of tea. We then caught the train to Birmingham where we bought my engagement ring together followed by a meal out. We’d been talking about getting married for a while so I knew it was only a matter of time. Although It wasn’t a grand gesture at the top of a mountain, it was perfect and I love that it was our kind of romantic!!

We are getting married in August 2012 - less than 2 months away! I really need to stop eating cake! At Patshull Hall, Burnhill Green.

We met on a Saturday night at a local club where our eyes met across a crowded dance floor. It is still a bone of contention as to who approached who! He he!

On our first date we went to a pub local to me. Ed picked me up and we had a few drinks, we clearly hit it off and it was only a matter of time before he asked me out on another date – well that’s my side of the story!

I think after the first month I knew that he was a keeper! I loved that we could, straight away, talk about and plan for our future. Making plans had never felt so exciting!

Ed says I make him laugh and I agree. We have fun together and he makes me feel protected and happy. I love him for lots of reasons and even for the things that irritate me about him!

Our biggest wish for married life is that things just remain as great as they are now! That we always remain best friends and we continue to talk and share our hopes and dreams for our future together. Cheesy I know!

Our engagement shoot came as part of the wedding package. At first I was very anti, I thought it would be a bit pretentious if I’m honest with you. However, after meeting up with Andrew Ward we felt quite differently. He explained how beneficial a shoot can be and he was right! In fact we ended up really enjoying the experience and are now looking forward to our wedding photos.
