I’ve arrived in Knutsford and am hard at work styling up The Belle Epoque for tonight’s Brides Up North Tweet Up North West.  I’m ridiculously excited.

.

I have a fabulous team behind me, so big ups and snaps for Simply Bows & Chair Covers, Laurel Weddings, , The Cheshire Cat Cake Company, Lilybud Cupcakes, Fonix Music and Martin Hambleton Photography who are all helping me out today.  Official photographs coming soon.

.

Once again, I wouldn’t leave you without something extra specially gorgeous to muse on here on these swirly silver pages, so step forward (regular guest blogger) Katy of What Katy Did Next and her team of retro magicians for a beautiful vintage inspiration shoot with a focus on bridesmaids and wedding guests.  They need something lovely to wear too you know!

.

I’ll see you lovely lot bright and early tomorrow.  Maybe.

Katy says:  Organising photo shoots and styling up my headwear, has quickly become one of my favourite parts of being in this industry. I sometimes design and make my pieces with a final shoot in mind – kind of backwards but it works for me. When college friend Lauren Crawford mentioned getting some professional images of her fabulously quirky, vintage style home wares for her business ‘Thimble & Bobbin’ I jumped at the chance to style a colourful retro photo shoot – focusing on bridesmaids and wedding guests this time – and involving a handful of local and handmade suppliers.

Lauren is inspired by all things vintage, retro and kitsch. She creates framed original screen prints, quirky cushions, wedding gifts, bunting and other household knick-knacks. With this theme in mind, and the this year’s Jubilee celebrations, I set my mind on a 1950s Britain theme with colourful baking scenes, beautiful dresses and hair and make up to match.

After finding the perfect venue in the amazingly decorated, self catering holiday cottages Bousdale Farm, I gathered props from various suppliers to show off the beautiful building and versatility of Thimble & Bobbin’s products in the home. Tea with Ruby is an amazing china hire company in the Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire area run by the very lovely Jane Day. Jane was a great help and instantly latched on to my ideas, helping me out with my ever growing prop shopping list.

The beautiful Northern models Beth Dooley and Pippa Welch were made up very glamorously by the amazing Make Up by Jo & Vintage Tinsel hair styling – who expertly added vintage glamour to the event. After using Alexandra King from Make Me A Dress in my previous shoot, it was lovely to borrow dresses from her again. Bright colours I had shied away from before to promote my bridal headwear were now top of the list and I loved being able to show off even more of Alexandra’s incredible work.

The marvellous aprons were handmade by Nikki Williams from Pinnikity, a delicious range of oilcloth aprons and retro influenced cotton aprons for both adults and children. Their oilcloth aprons can be personalised with any message or your own logo – great idea for your hen party ladies!

Extra props were provided by Alexandra Garrity Art – her painted canvases suited the shoot style down to a ‘t’ particularly her cupcakes and super cute mini French Fancy canvas. Beautiful hand printed fabrics from Lillian’s House were draped over furniture adding a street party style to certain areas of the cottage.

It was a real joy to work on this shoot with so many talented handmade and local businesses. I managed to create a mini head wear collection consisting of six colourful retro style head pieces, which would be perfect for a unique daring bride, bridesmaids, wedding guests, or simply a day at the races? All which will be available to order on my website in the next couple of weeks.
