Today’s post was a bit of a funny one for me to put together, not least because that’s my own mug staring back at me from most of the pictures, and also because I am interviewing my best friend, Jane, about a little project that we decided to work on together what seems like eons ago now!

Whilst Brides Up North (the blog, brand, events and related products) takes up 99% of my working time whole life, I sometimes put my beloved wedding brand aside to help Jane out with a pretty little labour of love that we like to call Pashmina Rainbow, a gorgeous online shop stocking soft scarves in all the colours of the rainbow, borne out of a frustration that dates back decades.

It seemed that whenever I wanted a coloured wrap for a race day, wedding or evening event, I just couldn’t find what I was looking for – something affordable, complimentary, of good quality and that would just ruddy well match my outfit! Many market visits turned up poor quality products and the high street was almost as bad, just ten times more expensive: it was the pashmina problem.

After failing to zip up my suitcase after a rather large haul of a year’s personal supply of rainbow wraps one summer in Spain, I aired my frustrations to my bessie, and voiced the immortal words “Gah! It would be so much easier if we could just buy these online!”.

And with that, an idea took seed… so I’ll pass you to Jane, who sits at the day to day helm of our lovely little online shop. But before I do, let me assure you that the pashmina problem has been solved. Forever.
