Message In A Bottle! A Real Wedding In Aberdeen – Lucie & Josh

Happy Saturday Brides Up North!  What are your plans for the weekend?  I’m off to a wedding myself (!), helping my great friend Leah to say “I do” to her lovely boyfriend Ben.  Congratulations to the happy couple, and save some cake for me (if I know Leah like I think I do, there’ll be plenty of cake involved)!

Whilst I’m having fun eating cake, I’ve a fab Real Wedding just for two to share with you all today.  Lucie and Josh didn’t need anyone else to make their day special (except from Branco from AB Weddings), as they rocked their day the way they wanted it: a bright blue dress, fish and chips and fairgrounds.

I like their style.

Lucie says:   We were married on 23rd December 2011 at Aberdeen Town Hall.  We love the Hall because of it’s amazing architecture, but wanted to have a non traditional and punk rock wedding – with just the two of us!

We opted for dark colours and didn’t have a strict dress code, we just wore what we felt comfortable in – which was a bright blue dress for me, to match my hair.  I carried a bouquet of black imitation flowers.

Our wedding breakfast was fish and chips from the chip shop on Aberdeen beach called ‘Captain Jax’ which was opened especially for us.

We had a toffee cream cake from Tesco and a plastic play sword to cut it with.  We had loads of fun posing for photos on the beach with our photographer Branco from AB Weddings.

We sent a message in a bottle to commemorate the day (I wonder if it washes up on foreign shores?) and we also brought along a “Magic Umbrella” to fly us to our honeymoon destination!

My favourite part of the day was the photo shoot at the beach even though it was extremely cold and saying “yes” to my lovely husband.

.

.

After the wedding we flew with our magic umbrella to Edinburgh and spent Christmas there.

.

.

.

.

.

.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to do your own thing, and make sure you get a photographer who is fun to work with and is genuinely interested in your big day.
