Happy Sunday Brides Up North!  How are you spending yours?

.

Today is one of those rare days when I have absolutely nothing in the diary whatsoever.  No calls to make, events to host or attend, not even a family roast dinner.  And you know what?  Rather than feeling bored or restless, I’m absolutely revelling in it!

.

If you are a regular reader of the blog, you’ll know that the last few weeks months have been super hectic here at Brides Up North towers, with a huge home and office move thrown into the usual mayhem, just to keep things interesting.  So I’m grabbing hold of this glorious free time with both hands, using it to relax, recharge, read the Vogue Catwalk Report, feather my nest and catch up with all the outstanding admin issues that the past fortnight’s dodgy server and internet provision have left me with.  I’m hoping that I’ll enter next week feeling thoroughly fresh.  And goodness, do I have some gorgeous to share with you next week…

In the meantime, I thought that I should spread this unusual January joy by spreading a little happiness to one of my lovely readers too (yes, it could be you!).  Whether you are a bride to be, wedding watcher or industry reader, this fabulous prize – courtesy of my friends at Simply Be, the online retailer for plus size fashion, exclusively for sizes 14 – 32 – could be winging it’s way to you!

Head over there now and check out their beautiful new Bridal Boutique and exclusive new collection. This is impressive stuff!  The team say:  Feel divine on your wedding day in one of our stunning plus size wedding dresses. Our angel-sleeve wedding dress in a sumptuous oyster shade features flattering arm coverage and beautiful beading on an empire line silhouette. The ivory coloured petal trim dress has a fabulously feminine feel, with pretty ruffled straps and a super floaty fabric to have you gliding down the aisle. For those who like a little more arm coverage, the clean lines of our long sleeved wedding dress are perfect. Or for something a little different, pick our knot-front bridal gown in soft blush peach – it makes a gorgeous plus size bridesmaid dress too and is available with a matching bridal shrug.

I would love to win this amazing competition as I’m a plus size girl who is currently pregnant and due to be chief bridesmaid at my little sisters wedding in April when I will be extremely pregnant. We’re yet to find the perfect bridesmaid dress. This is where simply be could come to the rescue. Winning would also have the added bonus of plus size maternity wear and clothes that will fit me after the birth. Come on Lady Luck shine on me xxx

I’d love to win this competition. I was diagnosed with a disability in 2010 and since then I have lost all confidence in my body. I used to love my curves, now I just see a fat blob. Hubby to be is constantly telling me that I’m beautiful and, just for once, I’d love to feel it myself.

Wow, I’d love to win this prize. We haven’t set a date yet although we are hoping for a beautiful vintage-styled wedding and these dresses and accessories look picture perfect for what I’m after. We are both self-employed and money is tight, plus with the very sad losses of my mum to pancreatic cancer 11 years ago this year and my partner’s mum last summer (to lung cancer) I am dreading going wedding dress shopping… The thought of going it alone makes me terribly sad. To be able to order a few lovely things from the comfort of home will certainly take the edge off. Thank you for the opportunity x

I think I should win becuase we live with my parents so we can save to buy our first home and pay for our wedding at the end of the year, and any extra towards the wedding, will go towards the deposit :)

I’d love to win this prize because I looked in my wardrobe the other day and realised most of my clothes were ten years old or more. Tatty bottomed trousers, shirts with white stains on the armpits, faded jumpers and nothing that fits right. I need some new clothes for my honeymoon in Lake Como – or else I’m going to give the British a bad name by looking an utter scruff.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess, Lets call her Linda ;0) Linda worked hard all day long, and was saving all of her gold coins for the day her prince made her his wife :)

One day, (whilst strolling through the proverbial internet forest!) she stumbled upon a beautiful cottage with a sign on the door saying “Brides up north”. She opened the door and looked inside. It was full of wonderful, beautiful, SPARKELY things. She couldnt believe her eyes!
She explored the house, inspired by the gorgeous ideas!

She wondered into the room marked Simply Be and browsed through pages and pages of gorgeous clothes, and stunning accessories!

“Oh I wish I could have these for MY big day”, she exclaimed!

As if by magic, and with a POOF of light – her Brides up North, and Simply Be fairy godmothers appeared from no where , and made her dreams come true! :)

(And of course -) they all lived happily ever after :) (with new shoes, what girl would not!!) :) )) x

I’d give this voucher to my mam so she could get a mother of the bride outfit, being so far away sucks sometimes as i wont be able to go out shopping with and she missed me trying on my dress so this would be an amazing little thank you present to her.

    Loving your work Julia!!! ;)

It’s been indeed a gray and dreary month … hard to think of wedding preparations at a time like this! I’d love to win as we are looking for a maid of honour dress for me for a wedding in July. It hasn’t been great financially but my friend deserves THE best wedding, as the photos will last a lifetime. I know winning this will give her some relief, knowing that at least my bit will be taken care of for her wedding :)

I think I should win as I’m plus size and proud! But have recently been put down by a bridezilla who chose a bridesmaid dress that only went to a size 16!(and a small one at that!) I am having to pay for it to be majorly altered to fit and made to feel ashamed about my size! Oh and all the other BM’s were 6′s and 8′s great! Would live a wardrobe refresh to pick me back up and have something great to wear next time I see everyone!

Not trying for the sympathy vote here, but I’m getting married later this year. My mam passed away eight years ago and although I’m excited to be getting married, I’m struggling to get excited about going dress shopping without the one person every girl should have with her. Online dress shopping at Simple Be sounds like the perfect way to find the perfect dress so I can once again get all gooey over cakes instead!

I am getting married this year, our wedding is going to be very low key on a budget so this will help us a lot. I am size 14 after having our baby so Simple Be sounds perfect for me.
