Let’s get this week off to a very pretty start, with this beautiful Winter wedding, sent to me by Joanne Kelly Photography and Brides Up North reader Hayley.  Looking around this little corner of the blogosphere, you might be able to tell that I am quite partial to a touch of pink, and today’s stunning celebration proves that you needn’t strike a blush colour palette off your wish list just because the skies might be looking a little grey.  Rather than raising temperatures with traditional berry reds, it’s time to subtly turn up the heat, with a pretty mix of pinks, golds and just a touch of twinkle.  All together now: ahh.

Hayley says:  Nick asked me to marry him at Mottram Hall on my birthday on 26th August 2011 and we were married on 21st December 2012 at Combermere Abbey, Whitchurch.

We instantly fell in love with the beautiful glasshouse and gardens at Combermere. The pathway up to the glasshouse is truly breath taking. We also really liked that you had exclusive use of the grounds on the day and we wouldn’t have to share our day with anyone else.

Although we got married only four days before Christmas, we didn’t want it to run too much into our wedding day. We had a romantic vintage theme with low textured floral displays and lots of candles to give it that romantic feel, using a colour base of golds and taupes with dusky pink and dark lilac rose posies.

I fell in love with the dress instantly. It was a Pronovias design from The Bridal Path in Altrincham. The dress was an elegant Grecian style, with the most stunning beading over the shoulder and down the back.  my heels were by Jenny Packham

My makeup and HD brows were by Makeup by Lucy Hill and finished off my look beautifully.

I had a posy in a range of Winter pink flowers to give a lovely vintage look and texture.

The bridesmaids wore Jenny Packham gold/taupe full length dresses with jewelled waistlines and beautiful asymmetric drapes over the shoulder. The groomsmen had dark charcoal suits with low waistcoats and ties to match the bridesmaid dresses.

My favourite part of the day was walking up to the glasshouse before the ceremony, it was the only part of the day that seemed to go slowly. Nick was very nervous for his speech so the evening reception was probably his favourite part of the day when he could relax!

Our video was taken by Cinematic Vizion, I loved the unique documentary style that Chris used to capture the day.

Our photography was by Joanne Kelly and we were delighted by all the beautiful photographs from both our wedding day and also the pre-wedding shoot. Joanne is really creative and is able to capture some stunning images.

We used lots of music throughout the day.  For the ceremony we a harpist, Una Linett. We had a string trio to play during the meal and then for the evening reception we had The Livewires. The Livewires were the second thing we booked after the wedding reception, as soon as Nick heard them, and they were great!

We had a beautiful plain three tiered cake, with roses dusted in a gold shimmer and trimmed with gold antique lace.

We rented out all the cottage accommodation the night before and the night after the wedding. The guests really enjoyed sharing the whole experience with us and not just the wedding ceremony and evening reception.

After the wedding, we wanted to spend Christmas at home with our family and move into our new home. We are hoping to go away on our honeymoon later in the year.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be on the day, forget about all the planning and worrying how well the day goes and just enjoy the day.

Congratulations Hayley & Nick!

Beautiful winter wedding at such a great location. Combermere Abbey Glasshouse is a venue I’ve enjoyed photographing weddings at many times and whatever the season, it is always absolutely amazing. Beautiful wedding. Thank you for sharing.
