Sugar Frosted: Mori Lee For A Real Wedding At Oulton Hall –Emma & Jordan
Posted on: 21/08/2013
This morning things are getting pink and girly here at Brides Up North (oh alright then, more pink and girly) as we join Emma and Jordan for their sugar spun celebration in Leeds. With a princess dress, candy colours and big blousy blooms, Brides Up North reader Emma’s wedding is straight out of a fairy-tale.

Emma says: We got engaged in October 2009 – it was in my mum’s dining room, just the two of us! We were married on 13th April 2013 at Oulton Hall, Leeds.
As soon as I got engaged I fell in love with Oulton Hall – I wanted a venue I could stay at the night before, get married and have the day and night do all in one place. I loved the contemporary vintage feel of the place – the chandeliers and big windows!
We chose a vintage rose theme– so the colours were dusky pink and ivory. Lots of lace and pearls too. A really traditional romantic wedding day.
I chose a Mori Lee dress from Confetti and Lace in Pudsey (they offered wonderful service). I knew I wanted a ball gown style dress; I tried on thirty dresses in total but fell in love with the Mori Lee ‘Leah’ (1667) dress.
I got my bridesmaid dresses from eBay of all places – a lady in Manchester made them. They were full length dusky pink gowns with flower detail under the bust.
The groomsmen hired their suits from Yorkshire Menswear (sister company of Confetti and Lace). They wore grey suit and tails, with a silver waistcoat with flower detail and a pink cravat.
I stayed in the hotel overnight so I only had to walk downstairs to the room for the ceremony! It was nice to be stress free and know I’d be on time.
I carried a hand tied mix of pink and ivory roses with pearls running through. The main rose I used throughout the day was a vintage looking rose that was cream with pink edges – called Esperance.
For our wedding cake we had three tiers of chocolate and baileys, lemon sponge and chocolate, cherry and amoretto. We had ivory icing with dusky pink ribbon and silk Esperance roses.
My favourite part of the day was the moment with my dad before we walked down the aisle, then it would have to be the speeches. They were fantastic, the effort they all went to was amazing.
We honeymooned at Long Beach Hotel, Mauritius. We are also going to Las Vegas in September for our second honeymoon as we couldn’t decide where we wanted to go! So we did both!
I got married at 3pm (dictated by the available slots from the registrar) which really compacted our day. My advice for other Brides Up North would be to get married earlier so that you have longer to enjoy your day with all your family and friends!
Congratulations Emma & Jordan!
