January 30th, 2014 | Julia Braime
Yesterday, I shared a beautiful shoot to share the designs of milliner Rebecca Jagger, and it just so happens that Rebecca’s work (which she is offering at a 10% discount to Brides Up North readers until the end of February – click here) is shown off in this styled shoot too, sent to me by Rachael, Brides Up North Featured Supplier and owner of The Social Butterfly.
As well as telling you all about out own amazing events we also like to share carefully selected diary dates from our sponsors and friends that we think might interest our discerning readers. I’ve already told you about The Social Butterfly’s forthcoming event on 16th February 2014, and this is a styled shoot devised by the exhibitors at that event to show you a little of what they are all about. For full details of the event, see my original post here.
Meanwhile, I’ll allow Rachael to set the mood: Alone in her dressing room, a ballerina waits for her beau. Gazing at her perfect porcelain reflection in a handheld vintage mirror, she anticipates his arrival. She lights the room with candles and puts her favourite record, 1920’s French jazz. Gently parting her lips, smiling with her eyes, she remembers their last romantic rendezvous in Paris.
Taking the time to re-read his anecdotes of affection and to appreciate his lavish yet so thoughtful gestures a single dipped rose, an elegant pair of pearl droplet earrings and a jewel encrusted neck collar, her heart beats faster as his approach becomes nearer.
Nerves and anticipation make tiny bumps and pimples appear all over skin. Indecisively she slips into her favourite gown and then changes, remembering that his favourite colour is blush. She stands back, studies her appearance and once again changes her dress. Angelic, poetic and pure, she is ready to wed.

Former lawyer and bride to be Julia founded Brides Up North in 2010 with a chip on her shoulder. Frustrated by the poor Northern presence in glossy bridal magazines and online, she decided to do something about it herself. Astounded by the rapid growth of her blog and brand, Julia now manages Brides Up North’s online content alongside their busy wedding exhibition season, industry events and related commissions. And she’s always, always, got a new project on the go…
