*Tumbleweed rolls in*
Don’t you just hate it when your best efforts are completely frustrated?! I’ve just spent two full days “on the road” as part of a series of speaking engagements at the workshops of some seriously talented professionals, and whilst I’ve been so, so inspired to send time shooting ideas around with some fabulous creatives – and extremely honoured to be invited to take part (more on this later) – my Wi-Fi cover has been a little less than satisfactory. I hope you’ll bear with me as we get to some of the features that were actually meant to hit these pretty pages a little earlier this week. It’s catch up time, ladies.
Last week, back when life was a little less hectic, I actually got to spend a little time out of the office (and out of the car!) hitting up the High Street and checking out the new collections. Can I get a whoop whoop?! All in the name of research, you understand.
First stop: Reiss.
I’ll be honest. Whilst Reiss used to be my go-to treat yourself on payday staple, I’ve found it’s latest few seasons to be a little lack lustre. At the top end of my high street spend, I wanted a little more brilliance for my buck.
Well, hello! This season, Reiss is back on track.
And guess what? There’s loads of flirty little dresses that would be just perfect for all those bridal occasions in the run up to and surrounding a wedding (the ones where you’re not actually rocking the main frock). Think classy hen party, rehearsal dinner, going away dress or some seriously grateful bridesmaids.
Go to work ladies!

Former lawyer and bride to be Julia founded Brides Up North in 2010 with a chip on her shoulder. Frustrated by the poor Northern presence in glossy bridal magazines and online, she decided to do something about it herself. Astounded by the rapid growth of her blog and brand, Julia now manages Brides Up North’s online content alongside their busy wedding exhibition season, industry events and related commissions. And she’s always, always, got a new project on the go…
