This afternoon on the blog we’re bringing you another glorious helping of real wedding inspiration in the form of Natalie and Richard’s beautiful big day at Middleton Hall.
To match the
fine setting
, bride Natalie came up with a simple and elegant theme comprising of romantic candlelight and white and green blooms. The style stakes were kept high in terms of attire too, with Natalie looking picture perfect in a lace Pronovias gown and Richard a dapper groom in a textured navy suit and dicky bow!

We got engaged at the top of a rock in Monserrat, Barcelona, on 29th September 2013. It was a really beautiful day!Our wedding took place on 3rd October 2015, at Middleton Hall in Belford, Northumberland. We loved how elegant Middleton Hall was and that we could have the venue for the weekend with our friends and family being able to stay for the duration. It was perfect.
We didn’t have a theme as such, but we just knew that we wanted an elegant and chic wedding with plenty of candles and all white flowers with some green foliage. As such, we went for a simple white colour scheme with mint and pale green touches.
I chose a beautiful, full lace Pronovias dress with a lace bolero top which I had adapted to fit with the look I wanted to achieve. The dress was from the fabulous Mia Sposa in Newcastle.
My bridesmaids meanwhile wore Grecian style Kelsey Rose dresses in pale green from Laura Lea Boutique in Newcastle. All make-up was done by the fabulous Victoria Holdstock and our hair was styled by the fabulous GM Hair.
The groomsmen wore navy blue three piece suits from Next with pale green ties and pocket squares.
Our beautiful flowers were created by C&C Floral Design. My bouquet was a gorgeous combination of hydrangeas, blousy roses and freesias, mixed in with some foliage and other beautiful white flowers.
The chairs at the venue were provided by The Finishing Touches Company.
We chose Wilkins Fine Dining to take care of the catering and what they provided was exquisite.
My mum made our beautiful fruitcake wedding cake and we also had a ‘cheese’ cake with all locally sourced cheeses, which was a wedding present from my mum’s husband.
We gave our guests bespoke wedding favours; hand creams and candles created by Lilac & Thyme for the ladies and then made our own “The Power’s” chutney for the gents.
When it came to the entertainment we had a fabulous magician called David Linacre, who mesmerised everyone with his fabulous magic and illusions. We also had a ‘bubble bar’ for the reception drinks and canapés.
Instead of the traditional photo booth, we had a Polaroid and selfie frame for our guests to take pictures with and stick in our guest book.
In the evening the fabulous Philippa King Band provided the music and also DJ’d in between their live sets. Once the band finished we had a sparkler send off with all our guests lighting up the midnight sky with their sparklers.
Looking back we couldn’t possibly chose a favourite part of the wedding day, we loved every single bit if it!
We went to America and St Lucia on our honeymoon. We started off in San Francisco for five days followed by some fabulous wine tasting in Napa Valley for two days and then took a beautiful drive up to Yosemite National Park. We then flew to St Lucia for a week!
My top tip to other Brides Up North would be to keep lists of your wedding planning progress to stay organised and also to have a spreadsheet of all your costs/outgoings that you can update as you go along. I also made a timetable for the wedding day, listing each supplier, their contact details and timings for their arrival. I gave copies to the bridesmaids, groomsmen and the venue staff for the wedding day. You don’t want to have to worry about anymore organising on the big day! Just enjoy every second.
