Kicking off your week in style, we’re showcasing a stunning wedding in the heart of Liverpool – proof, if any was needed, that an urban backdrop can provide the most beautiful of settings for your special day.

Our couple, Lindsey and Andrew, tied the knot earlier this summer. Hosting their celebrations at the truly mesmerising Oh Me Oh My venue, dubbed a ‘secret space’ in the city – the newlyweds opted for a rustic vintage theme. We’re talking a VW campervan, pretty foliage and floral arrangements, miniature chalkboards and pegs, and the most divine naked wedding cake.

We just love the combination of an impressive rooftop garden, sparklers and an enviable view over the city – perfect for couples seeking something a little bit alternative.

lindsey says: We got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2014, in London, on the River Thames, as Big Ben struck midnight and the fireworks went off.

We tied the knot on 15th July 2017, at St George’s Hall Liverpool as we wanted a civil ceremony. We then hosted our celebrations at Oh Me Oh My in Liverpool – I absolutely fell in love with this venue the first time I saw it. I love its vintage quirkiness and city centre location.

The wedding had a rustic vintage theme which went perfectly with the venue. I wasn’t too hung up on colour schemes – I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses and we took it from there.

I knew I wanted a lace wedding dress but still tried on lots of different styles. I got my dress from Jules Bridal in Wigan, and knew from the minute I put it on that it was the one.

Andrew wore a grey three-piece suit from Greenwoods Menswear in Wigan. The groomsmen also wore grey three-piece suits from Greenwoods.

The bridesmaid dresses were purchased from Monsoon and Debenhams. The adults wore grey while the flower girls donned pale pink.

In terms of transport, we didn’t want a traditional wedding car and so stuck with the vintage theme by opting for a VW campervan from Funcampers in Manchester.

We booked Robyn from Bobtale Photography. She was amazing, the feel was relaxed and not too formal which is exactly what we wanted. Matt from Embee did the videography – a new venture for him and he worked alongside Robyn seamlessly. My hubby hates fuss and anything over the top, we had so much fun with Robyn and Matt and they both made us feel so comfortable. I have already recommended them since our big day.

I carried a undone arrangement of roses and foliage made by the fabulous Sarah at The Rose Boutique in Wigan. The bridesmaids had a gypsy bouquet and the flower girls carried a heart wand.

For the venue styling, Sarah at The Rose Boutique and Emma at Love and Lace knew exactly what look I wanted and they pulled it off amazingly. The room at Oh Me Oh My looked fabulous. They styled it all with lots of mismatched vases filled with roses, candles and pearls. I also had a beautiful flower wall from Prop Me Pretty Liverpool.

We went for a three-tier naked wedding cake from Say It With Flours in Liverpool, consisting of strawberry and Prosecco, lemon, and classic Victoria sponge. It was incredible. It was decorated with roses and a topper from Always Lovely.

We didn’t want a formal, five-course silver service type meal for the wedding breakfast, so went for a platter serve yourself style of catering, with a mixture of dishes served to each individual table. The chicken and chorizo stew was divine. Then later in the evening we had fish and chips.

Music is a huge part of our lives and I think this showed throughout the day – from the songs we had at the ceremony to the cake topper. The super talented John and Lee from upcoming band Grapefruit played an acoustic set in the afternoon. This was followed by the amazing Marc Kenny and band playing throughout the evening.

We saw the day out with sparklers on the Goodness Gracious roof garden overlooking the Liver Building and the docks, which was a special highlight.

From the very first time I met with everyone we booked as part of our special day I knew it would be perfect. I would highly recommend each and every one of our suppliers. They all got it so right and took a lot of stress and pressure off me.

Oh Me Oh My is a beautiful space that we would recommend to other couples too. We didn’t want anything too corporate, formal or old-world style, so this venue was perfect for us, and our coordinators were more than accommodating.

Looking back, it’s impossible to narrow down our favourite part of the day. It was important for us to have our children play a part in the ceremony. The whole day was filled with love, music and laughter.

We had a ‘familymoon’ to Salou recently, which we all enjoyed.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be – have the day you want and enjoy every single minute of it!
