January 4th, 2018 | Julia Braime
It’s holiday season here on the blog, and as the editorial team take a short break, we’ll be leaving you with a reduced blogging schedule so that you still get your daily dose of wedding lovely. Usual service will recommence on Monday 8th January 2018 (we’re hoping we’ll be over the hangover by then, right?) but in the meantime watch out for recaps of some of our favourite Real Weddings from last 6 months.
Drop in every day for the very prettiest, most unique wedding inspiration and – if you are a Brides Up North bride – to see if your real wedding was one of our top picks.
Ladies, have your pinning fingers at the ready for today’s real wedding is an absolute stunner!
Bride Elizabeth and groom Rob chose the contemporary King Street Townhouse for their city chic wedding that featured all-white blooms, sophisticated décor and just a touch of sparkle through the maids’ gorgeous dresses and a pair of glistening Jimmy Choos. I mean, need we say more?

elizabeth says: We got engaged during a holiday to the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. We had stopped off in Paris enroute just to add to the romance. We were in a small village called Deshaies, sat relaxing beside the Caribbean Sea watching the sun slowly setting. It was a very romantic moment and the perfect opportunity for the proposal.
Our wedding was on 30th April. We chose this date purposely as Rob’s birthday falls on 22nd April and mine on 29th April – it gives us the perfect reason each year to go on holiday to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary.
We got married at King Street Townhouse in Manchester. We always wanted the chic city wedding and set to work finding the perfect venue – as soon as we walked into KSTH we both knew immediately that this was the place we would be married.
Our day was a city chic style wedding with lots of grey, white and silver – we really wanted something sophisticated and timeless. We kept the colour palette classic, clean and contemporary.
When it came to picking my dress, I was looking for something totally unique and something that would fit the city chic theme. I had already bought a wedding dress but something in the back of my mind said it wasn’t quite right. I continued searching and found a small boutique, as I walked in I saw the dress. I fell in love with it. I had to have it. Unfortunately, it was a designer sample and wasn’t for sale – I tried it on, it was so perfect. So much so that I refused to take it off until the boutique agreed to sell it to me!
On the day of the wedding, my hair and makeup was done by Ariana Rose, who was superb. She arrived just after 7am and stayed with us for almost six hours, a truly talented professional who not only listens but also offers advice where necessary. Outstanding!
Rob wore a grey suit from Moss Bros with a shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt and shoes and matching belt by Moreschi. The groomsmen also wore suits from Moss Bros.
My bridesmaids wore grey dresses with silver and white beading that were bought from Lindybop.
Our day was captured by Kate McCarthy Photography. We cannot praise Kate enough, from the pre-wedding shoot on a cold winter day in Chester all the way through to the wedding, Kate was fabulous. On the day she was totally amazing and you’d hardly have noticed she was there. We would highly recommend Kate.
The wedding flowers were provided by Verdure Floral Design and were absolutely stunning. I carried a full bouquet of white peonies. The ceremony room and reception were decorated with peonies, freesias, white roses and eucalyptus leaves.
As favours, we gave out ‘wedding survival kits’ containing, painkillers, blister plasters, sweets and coffee.
Our lovely silver, grey and white wedding cake was made by a friend.
For the wedding breakfast, we gave guests a couple of options to choose from. Starter was a choice of ham hock terrine or celery soup, with mains of sea bass fillet or chicken supreme and desserts of bread and butter pudding or summer fruit brulee.
Entertainment-wise, we had a pianist from Pianist For Weddings to play in ceremony room, who was fantastic and exactly matched what we wanted for the day. To provide music during the champagne reception, we had a swing singer – Rich Sings Swing – who was amazing. Richard sang as the guests enjoyed their drinks on the roof terrace, and sang Rob and I into the room to Let There Be Love by Nat King Cole. The evening entertainment was provided by David Lee of Wedding DJ Services. A truly great DJ who listened to what we were looking for and got everyone up dancing.
Following our wedding we would recommend KSTH to other couples. On the wedding day, Jenni, the hotel manager, was phenomenal. I have never met a hotel manager so dedicated to their work. It was as though Jenni was a family member, even nipping to M&S for a set of cufflinks for my grandfather. The waiting staff were absolutely amazing. The service was impeccable. The service manager making sure that everyone was served at exactly the same time – absolutely perfect service.
Rob and I both agree that we couldn’t pick a favourite part of the wedding as we loved the whole day. Everything went 100% to plan – we just wish we could do it all again!
The wedding ceremony itself, taken by celebrant Louise from The Ceremony Company, was a highlight. The service was very personal and we have had lots of comments as to how magical it was.
During the ceremony, my nan read a personal poem and Rob and I shared personal promises. My maid of honour, who had flown inform Dubai, also did a special reading at the end of the ceremony.
My top tip to other Brides Up North would be – follow your dream. Make sure you get what you want – it all works out in the end and it’s your day.

Really lovely colour scheme. So stylish and elegant. The colours work really well together, I do love a really colourful and bright wedding colour scheme, but sometimes duller, softer colours just shouts beauty.
It was a fabulous wedding and a lovely couple to work for. Here is blog post I did for this wedding including a few extra images – http://weddingdjservices.co.uk/king-street-townhouse-wedding/
