Brides Up North

After months of prep and planning, Brides Up North launched in November 2010 amid wedding fever on the day that the Royal Engagement was announced. In the four years since then, the site has skyrocketed in popularity and profile to become one of the most visited wedding blogs in the UK.

If you’re planning a wedding Up North, you’ve come to the right place.

we love local.  and we love stylish weddings.

Brides Up North stands out because it encourages its readers to think local and to support the fabulous wedding industry suppliers on their own doorstep. Every single featured supplier, styled shoot, real wedding or industry expert we feature on the blog took place or is based in the North of England.

Brides Up North has also developed as a market leading brand away from the pages of the blog.  The brand has a “loyal and local” offline following and Brides Up North’s wedding industry networking events, parties and bridal exhibitions are regular sell outs on exhibitor space with record attendances across all venues.  We’d love to see you there.

but don’t take our word for it…

Brides Up North has been named “Best Blog for Northern Brides” by Channel 4, crowned “Best Big Day Inspiration” blog in the Wedding Magazine Awards 2013, listed in Easy Wedding Search’s Top 100 UK Wedding Blogs and in Bride Tide’s Top 100 Wedding Blogs in The World 2011, 2012 and 2013. Brides Up North has also won several “Wedding Industry Experts” Awards, both for our online content and wedding exhibitions.

Brides Up North is currently nominated for a Cosmopolitan Blog Award 2014 (“Best Wedding Blog”), in Wedding Magazine’s Wedding Blog Awards 2014 (“Best City Wedding Blog”) and the Perfect Wedding Magazine Awards (“Best Wedding Blog”).

Former lawyer and bride to be Julia founded Brides Up North with a chip on her shoulder.  Frustrated by the poor Northern presence in glossy bridal magazines and online, she decided to do something about it herself.

With a background in fashion journalism (via J17, Closer, Heat, New Woman Online & Glamour Magazine) – yes, she is the real life Elle Woods – Julia put her media & marketing skills to work to create a dedicated blog and directory, especially for Northern brides.

Astounded by the rapid growth of her blog and brand, Julia now manages Brides Up North’s online content alongside their busy wedding exhibition season, industry events and related commissions.  And she’s always, always, got a new project on the go…

Rachel Parry - Features (c) Cat Hepple Photography

Regular guest blogger Rachel joined the Brides Up North editorial team as features writer in May 2014.

Senior Reporter at The Sheffield Star (a serious journalist then!) Rachel draws on her background as features, bridal & lifestyle editor for previous regional titles and time spent working for Yorkshire’s most successful PR agencies.

“I’ve long been a fan of Brides Up North and believe in what it stands for – showcasing amazing talent and stylish weddings in the North of the UK.  I’m thrilled and flattered to be made an official part of the team. I think what Julia has achieved so far is nothing short of fantastic and I’m super excited for what’s to come in the future.”
