heavenly housewife: tanya bardo bridal jewellery collection

August 12th, 2016 | Rachel Parry

Tanya Bardo Jewellery Launch (5)

When we’re not busy working, us Brides Up North girls are happy to admit that we love nothing more than a good reality TV binge; whether it be Keeping Up with the Kardashians, or checking up on the latest scandals in Chelsea and Essex.

A little closer to home, we’ve also become totally hooked on The Real Housewives of Cheshire – not only for the amazing hit of gossip and glamour– but also because the North West has become a real Brides Up North hotspot, with our Luxury Wedding Exhibitions taking place at some of the finest venues in the county.

And so when an invite landed in our inbox to the launch event of Real Housewife Tanya Bardo’s new bridal jewellery collection, there was no hesitation as we RSVP’d. Taking place at none other than co-star Dawn Ward’s house, we were given the opportunity to view the gorgeous jewellery collection for ourselves and even got to model and few pieces for a little shoot too, with hair by Alison Pearson Salon, makeup by Second Glance and dresses provided our friends at Dotty Taylor Bridal.

Having struggled to find jewellery for her own wedding to professional footballer Phil Bardsley two years ago, Tanya was keen to create a luxurious yet affordable bridal jewellery range that could be worn by brides, with options for bridesmaids and flower girls as well.

Following the same theme as her already popular Dreams to Reality jewellery collection, the handmade bridal designs feature a dainty angel wings charm and also incorporate pretty Swarovski pearls and sparkling crystals, making them a perfect addition for a bride and her wedding party.

To chat more about the designs (whilst trying to get the latest RHWC gossip), we caught up with the beautiful and straight-talking Tanya, who is expecting a baby anytime around now – so if he’s arrived, congratulations Tanya and Phil!

What first made you want to launch a jewellery range?

tanya says: I’d been working as a life coach and had also written a self-help coaching book, one of the areas which you focus on is looking at what your dreams/goals are. It’s important to write these down, but then it is also easy to forget about them when getting caught up in your daily living. When I was a single mum with no money I used to keep a little pebble in my pocket, every time I put my hand in my pocket and felt it there it’d prompt me to visualise my dreams.

So with the jewellery range I wanted to create something beautiful which acts as a daily reminder, so every time you see your piece of jewellery it triggers a little thought in your mind to make sure you’re doing something towards making your dream become reality.

friday night is party night: introducing mini-epic!

May 13th, 2016 | Julia Braime

Mini-Epic from Mini-Epic on Vimeo.

Planning a hen party should be fun, but sometimes you find you’re just drowning in the admin of it all.  Where to go, what to do, whether to choose a wild night or a chilled celebration… it can be a mind boggling and spreadsheet heavy task.  Add to that making sure that everyone is invited and has RSVP’d in a way that comes across as more bubbly than bossy, whilst setting the tone for the fun ahead and even the keenest of hens might want to hang up their high heels.  It’s an L plate strewn minefield.

Here at Brides Up North we’ve found the answer, courtesy of a cool new service that launches today. The online invite has been long overdue a 21st Century makeover. And it looks like the guys at Brides Up North Sponsor Mini-Epic have done just that!

Super cute, very tongue in cheek and loads of fun… whilst being very practical too.  Hey, do Mini-Epic want to be a bridesmaid too?

mini-epic say: Our online hen party invites are fun, totally personalised and add a little bit of excitement to the planning process. It’s a perfect way to get everyone excited for all the amazing things you have planned! As well as setting the perfect tone for your hen party, our range of invitations also collect your guest’s RSVPs, in a simple back-end system that is totally easy to manage and organise. No chasing of emails, or messaging group threads necessary…. it’s all taken care of.

There are loads of templates to choose from too, with a video and animation to suit everyone and every type of party. Think of this as your own personal ‘movie trailer’ to the most amazing night of your life (so far!).

A few examples you can see below, so let us know what you think and which you would choose. The invites are packed with personality and originality, and put your guests in the mood to party with an invitation they won’t forget.

After all, when you go to all the effort of organising a party, you want it to start in the best possible way right?

santa baby…

December 18th, 2015 | Julia Braime

7 Lunessa

Yet again this year us girls at Brides Up North HQ have been awfully good and are hoping to be rewarded with a loot of loveliness from Santa on Christmas Day. So, having taken care of our loved ones’ gifts, we thought we’d use this afternoon’s post to share our Christmas wish lists, which should hopefully reach the North Pole just in time!

Filled with girly and glittery goodness, you might want to send this link to your other half pronto if they’re yet to wrap up all of your gifts.

rachel’s list

RACHEL XMAS 1

White Company Pompom Boot Slippers, £40 – I came to realise just this week that the footwear that graces my tootsies most often is my slippers (no matter the time of year) and so a new, luxurious pair is a must for me each year.

Topshop Cashmere Sweater, £120 – continuing with the luxury, a cashmere jumper is a classic Christmas present that never goes unappreciated. This Topshop design shows that cashmere can be both cool and chic, which earns it a place on my list.

River Island Black Leather Pompom Gloves, £25 – I may be coming a little obsessed with pompoms, first the slippers and now these – but who doesn’t love to combine fashion with a little fun?

Abbott Lyon black Gator Kensington Watch, £129 – last year I had an Olivia Burton watch waiting under the tree and this year I hope to add to my arm candy collection with this sleek Abbott Lyon design. Black and gold, black and gold!

Warehouse Metallic Leather Skirt, £65 – every girl needs a party outfit for the festive season, am I right? Perfect for teaming with soft knits for day time gatherings and a sheer shirt or lace top for evening affairs, this little number ticks all the boxes.

Nike Air Pegasus 83 Trainers, £74.99 – much as I love a stunning pair of heels, sometimes you just need a good pair of trainers to get the job done. These kicks from Nike are both practical and girly with a beautiful bronze tick.

Ted Baker Hidie Snake Print Bag, £199 – Having been bought Ted’s Hidie purse for my birthday earlier this month, it seems only right to have a match bag to put it in.

Lancome La Vie Est Belle Perfume, £39 – my favourite scent at the moment and it’s running dangerously low! I’m seriously hoping that the elves have connections to Lancome to top up my supplies.

Ryan Storer Swarovski Crystal Cuff & Stud Earring, £265 – because what is Christmas without some sparkle? Still no sign of a ring for me just yet so I’ll settle for this cool crystal cuff and matching stud earring (for now!)

Oh and I’m still waiting on my Sausage Dog Puppy from last year – Santa I promise you this item won’t be coming off the list until you deliver the cute goods right to my door, well down the chimney!

julia’s list

JULIA XMAS

Topshop Lace Midi Dress, £120 – I’ve fallen in love with this floral number from Topshop which is so wearable in both winter (just add a distressed leather jacket) and once the warmer weather arrives. Sexy senorita!

Cox & Cox Quilt, £250 – I’m all for feathering my nest and I’ve been eyeing this sumptuous quilt for a few seasons. Now that it comes in a beautiful dove grey its shot to the top of my interiors wish list.

Kate Spade Stapler at Quill London, £24 – because when you spend as much time at a desk as I do, it needs a sprinkle of pretty. These rose gold accessories will make all the long, late hours worth it.

Cocolux Candle $45 AUD – after a trip Down Under in 2014 during which I fell head over heels for the Sunshine Coast, any export that reminds me of my time there is a welcome treat. These super luxurious candles smell amazing and look even better.

Mulberry Alexa Satchel– it’s time I had an upgrade and Alexa’s buttery leather ticks all my boxes for the perfect tote.

Mathieu Challieres Lamp at Smallable, £306.99 – meant for (very lucky) children, I’m eyeing up this cool birdy lamp for my own bedside. Perfectly eccentric.

Lunessa Ring – this is bling, with a touch of magic. A forever piece. Hope the hubby is reading.

Sweaty Betty Ski Trail Top, £60– these stylish yet functional ski threads are the perfect winter warmers, both on and off the slopes.

Kurt Geiger Scarlett Boots, £120 – I cover a lot of ground during our Luxury Wedding Exhibition seasons, and these boots look sturdy and stylish.

Ted Baker Loopey Jumper, £139 – a dash of sequins and this knit works as well dressed up or with jeans, Ted Baker is my go-to for the snuggly stuff this year.

February 12th, 2015 | Rachel Parry

Valentines Wish List

Whether you consider it a day of passion or a commercial con, valentine’s day is the perfect time to swindle a lovely gift out of your other half.

You might be lucky enough to have a romantic fella whose already got your pressie all wrapped up, as well as a table booked at your favourite restaurant. However, if like many of us you fear your beau is more likely to remember when Pancake Day is in February rather than Valentine’s there is still time to drop some major hints so he’ll hot-foot it to the shops before Saturday.

So get leaving your laptop open on web pages displaying your top Valentine’s picks, circle wish list items in magazines and remember to mention that your perfume is running exceptionally low.

And if you’re in need of a little inspiration we’ve put together some top Valentine’s gift ideas right here – good luck ladies!

Blended with notes of ginger, patchouli and pink pepperpods, these gorgeous goodies will leave you feeling pampered from top to toe.

miu miu purse, £330

While some ladies like to splurge on the bag, others like a posh purse to do the talking. This metallic Matelasse’ purse from Miu Miu is high up the style ranks and is guaranteed to earn partners a bucket-load of brownie points.

oliver bonas silver bracelet, £19.50

As they say, it’s the thought that counts. So if you and your other half agree to buy each other just a small gift on Valentine’s Day this is a great choice for all you accessories lovers.

tiffany & co. Grace ring, from £9,850

Ok, so a girl can dream. While this amazing platinum band with a princess-cut diamond may be a little out of some blokes’ price range, Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular times of the year for proposals. In which case we should be welcoming a surge of new readers to our pretty Brides Up North pages shortly!

tinsel time. julia’s christmas picks

December 18th, 2014 | Julia Braime

Julia's Christmas Picks

There’s absolutely no doubt about it that the big day is drawing near – cue an afternoon spent dashing round the shops like a headless chicken, toddler in tow, as I realised that today was my only possible shopping day till the big man comes down the chimney.

(Sorry about the late feature, and all that, but at least there’ll be presents under the tree!)

My Christmas shopping’s done (albeit hastily), but here’s what would be on my wish list for the 25th, if anyone out there’s paying any attention by this stage…

Or have I lost you all to a reality TV and mulled wine blur?

ruby & ed ballerina slippers, £39

Soft, snuggly and stylish, these ballerina slippers come in the prettiest berry shades, perfect for cosy Christmas evenings in.  Plus they do a tiny pair, just right for my little mini me!

charlotte tilbury Supermodel Body, £45

Her make up line is sensational, so I’m hoping that her Supermodel Body cream will do what it says on the tin.  After skipping the gym in favour of more screen time, let’s hope that Charlotte’s promise of a “slimmer shimmer” comes to fruition.

jimmy choo Rebel cross body bag, £795

I’m dreaming of a Jimmy Christmas, and this little number works for day or night. I’d chose the silver for maximum sparkle.

nails inc nail polish in Porchester Square, £14

My staple colour, and in need of a restock.  This pale grey is endlessly flattering and goes with almost any outfit (including a wedding gown). I pray this stuff is never discontinued.

topshop sequin christmas tree sweater, £46

If you’re going to join the Christmas jumper madness, then why not do it in style?  If you’re gong to join ’em, you may as well beat ’em. In sequins.

alex monroe teeny tiny diamond ring, £265

Fragile, different and contains diamonds. I’d love my digits to be adorned with this little number.

kurt geiger london Bond heels in pink, £270

Strong, sexy and in my very favourite colour.  I’d never take them off.

ted bakersequinned pencil skirt, £139

Perfect for a glitzy night on the tiles with the girls, or dressed down for a dinner date with the other half. This skirt has drama and sass, but it’s got plenty of class too.

clarisonic Aria in gold, £155

I dream of the perfect complexion, and apparently this little gadget is going to deliver.  A must for ladies getting aisle ready and apparently for the rest of us too. Sign me up.

labrador puppy, POA

Do I even need to explain?
