Time to say hello to another of our fabulous Brides Up North Featured Suppliers, the lovely Rebecca (that’s her on her own wedding day, above!) of online retailer Be.Loved Bridal and her even lovelier treasure chest of bridal accessory delights.

.

Credit cards at the ready ladies, if you’ve been looking for ways to add some wow to your bridal style, look no further!  Let’s find out more…

.

Why did you decide to launch Be.loved Bridal and what is your background?

.

I had always been a big internet shopper so when I got in engaged I aimed to do a whatever I could online to fit in with my job which was really demanding. Apart from my dress I bought all the accessories for my wedding outfit online but found I had to buy from so many different sites to get the look I wanted.  I therefore started to dream up Be.loved Bridal, to do some of the leg work for brides a put together a selection of brands and product from the massive choice that’s out there.  I wanted to create something that was fashionable and affordable, but a website where brides could simply just enjoy browsing, which we know if all part of the fun!  Prior to setting up the website I worked as a womens’ wear buyer for major high street retailers including Republic, Debenhams and Mammas and Papas. As a result of my experience I have been able to source product, from local handmade designs to designer pieces from Europe and beyond!

.

The brand name came from my Grandparents and a ring which my Granddad bought for my Grandma.  My Grandma was definitely his beloved.  I love the meaning of beloved, it means: "A beloved person, thing, or place is one that you feel great affection for." and I think this is how your should feel about the pieces you wear on your wedding day, they will become heirlooms and memories to keep forever from your big day.

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

How do you select the products that are featured in your online shop?  Tell us about the process?

.

I have built up a number of contacts over the years and this combined with sourcing both here and abroad gives me plenty to choose from.  We are constantly expanding the collection and have new pieces arriving all the time.  We have fallen in love with our vintage bridal garters from SomethIng Old, Something Blue – they are handmade here in Yorkshire and no two designs are the same.  My designer uses only genuine antique lace and some of the trims are also beautiful vintage finds.   Each garter include something old and something blue so all that’s left is your something borrowed and new!   We can also help brides if they have any special request and talk to our designers and suppliers to see if we can source the perfect piece for our brides.

.

We offer a beautiful selection of handbags, shoes, veils and tiaras and we are adding new brands and pieces all the time.  We are have a range of genuine vintage jewellery and handmade antique lace garters too which are completely one off unique pieces, therefore they double up as your something old, giving you one less thing on your to do list!

.

Do you stock pieces that would be appropriate for Bridesmaids?  What would you recommend?

.

Some of the vintage jewellery is truly stunning and would make great bridesmaid gifts and pieces for them to cherish from your wedding day.  They are all completely unique and genuine vintage pieces.  I would highly recommend the vintage swirl earrings £38 they are beautiful, but they are the only pair!  Sourced from an antiques’ fair they were hard to find!  If you are following in Kate Middleton’s footsteps and your bridesmaid are wearing ivory that I would recommend our deco inspired clutch bag as the perfect accessory for the day.

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

What about Mother of The Bride?  What would you recommend?.

.

We offer some of our handbags in great colours like pink and black satin from £30 and if you can’t find what you looking for we can always try to source a specific colour for you just email us at

info@belovedbridal.co.uk and we will get in touch with out suppliers for you to see if we can source it.

.

.

.

.

What bridal accessory trends have been popular in 2012 and what trends do you see emerging in 2013 and beyond?

.

In 2012 the whole vintage bridal trend was still key has it has been for the last few seasons. I think the romance of getting married coupled with the beauty of some of the vintage designs means it will be a popular trend for some time to come too!

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

For 2013 I think we will see more customising trends coming through as we see brides looking for ways to truly personalise their wedding day.  We have seen this previously in the way brides decorate their venues and wedding stationery. Now we are seeing brides adding shoe clips or vintage brooches to their handbag and shoes or simply taking sampling of lace from their wedding dress to decorate their bouquet. At Be.Loved we have done our own bit of customising with our feather diamante handbag hand embellished with ivory ostrich feathers or our clutch bag decorated with genuine vintage lace.

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

We also think the 1950′s will be an important trend in 2013, think Audrey Hepburn and pinched in waists.  This post war ear was all about indulgence with bridal dresses, using lots of fabric to create full skirts and petticoats.  The accessories that finish this look are the birdcage wedding veil, red shoes and of course red lips!

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

Lastly the forehead band continues to be a key item for brides looking for something a little different.  Inspired by the 1920′s the forehead band has taken on an edgier role in recent seasons.  We love the forehead bands available at Be.loved Bridal from £40 with an ethereal twist inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream they are both bohemian  and modern at the same time.

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price and can you do a discount for Brides Up North readers?

.

Prices start from £28 we pride ourselves on beautiful quality and some top brands at affordable prices. I would love to offer a 10% discount plus free delivery over £50 especially for Brides Up North readers just enter code BRIDESUPNORTH into the checkout to obtain the discount.  Click here to start shopping!

.

.

What can Brides Up North expect when they use your service?

.

We operate like all the online retailers our brides are used to, our website is easy to use and our delivery service is fast and our customers are always in love with their purchases when they arrive.   Brides can shop by product or by brands as we will be soon adding in shop by style.  We like to think at Be.loved Bridal we are a helpful service taking out some of the hours of trawling through various websites to find accessories that suit your personality.   Brides who are looking for something a little unique without wanting to break the bank will love our collections.

.

.

What is your current favourite piece and why?

.

My favourite piece is the Flo wedding shoe. The attention to detail is amazing with diamante covered heel and ditsy print lining.   It comes with cushioned inner sole for comfort as heel all day can be hard on your feet and we think it may have taken a little inspiration from the channel footwear collections available for £87 (£78.30 for Brides up North if you use our promotional code!) If I was getting married again this would certainly be my shoe of choice!

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

Is there a particular style of jewellery or bridal accessory that has been immediately popular with your bridal customers?

.

The asymmetric headpieces have been really popular with more and more people adoring the vintage trend.  Whichever decade you choose as your theme the asymmetric headband instantly invokes images of bygone era and looks feminine and elegant on any bride.  Choose from delicate floral designs from Ivory & Co at £55 or the striking Anemone headpiece from Rainbow Club £125.   I personally think they add a touch of fashion as well as vintage to your bridal look.

.

.

Be.Loved Bridal Accessories

.

.

How are your products packaged?  Do they make good gifts?

.

Many of our product come in a gift box and all products come wrapped in tissue paper and love!

.

.

Jumpin’ Jumpin’! A Real Wedding In The North West– Helen & Stu

March 21st, 2013 | Brides Up North: UK Wedding Blog

I love a party with a bit of bounce, and Helen and Stu’s gorgeous vintage country garden wedding certainly has plenty of that!  With perfect detailing, beautiful blooms and one stunning leading lady, this Real Wedding is jumpin’.

Enjoy!

Helen says:  We got engaged at the “Northern Quarter Restaurant” in Manchester on 27th November 2010. Stu proposed with a beautiful 1920s ring – chosen by him!

We were married on 12th May 2012 at St Helens Church, Waddington with the reception at Browsholme Hall, in the Forest of Bowland.  St Helens Church was chosen due to it being beautiful, its fantastic community spirit and absolutely lovely Vicar, John Brocklehurst. Waddington is a stunning little village and a convenient location in relation to the reception venue.

.

Browsholme Hall is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the Tithe Barn where our reception was held is a stunning 17th century building. Rebecca, the Venue Manager was fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful (also, both venues made me cry with happiness, which is very important)!

Our theme was English Country Vintage… and fun!  All the vases, crockery and table linen were purchased by us both over many MANY weekends trawling the countries antiques shops.  We also wanted to make sure all our guests had a great time so we made sure there were plenty of fun elements and personal touches… and plenty of food and drink!

Three bridesmaids wore sage green chiffon dresses by Dessy and another of them wore a grey suit with a Dessy sage green tie.  The flower girls were in lace John Lewis flower girl dresses.  Our groomsmen black suits with matching white shirts and floral ties.

.

.

Adam Riley Photography

.

.

I wore a beautiful Spanish lace dress called Alborada by Pronovias, with a hand made Cathedral length lace edged veil to match the train of the dress. I wore my maternal Grandma’s marcasite necklace and a hand made side tiara with antique marcasite earrings.

.

Stu wore a Kenneth Cole black suit, a tailored fawn waistcoat with Jeffery West Cuban shoes and a skinny floral tie (lavender and cream).

Stu’s mother made a three tier cake (top tier was sponge with the lower two fruit) and I hand painted cake toppers to look like us. The cake was decorated with lace and flowers to match the tables and bouquet.

.

.

Our wedding favours were silly eye patches, toy soldiers, moustaches & we bought colouring books as extras for the children too.

.

.

The table names were silly little sayings that we both have (e.g. The Jaguar & The Fez). I made 120 luggage label place names with vintage rubber stamps, vintage postage stamps and using my Nanna’s type writer to type the names.

Behind The Yellow Brick Road… A Peek Behind The Scenes

March 20th, 2013 | Brides Up North: UK Wedding Blog

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

Now, I’ve been known to organise a styled shoot or two here at Brides Up North (click here, here, here, here and here to see a few) so I know just how much effort and hard work goes into bringing an initial concept to print in a magazine, or published online.

.

I know that lots of my readers are interested in how a shoot comes together, so here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes at the fabulous LOVE The Great and The Wonderful shoot – inspired by the Wizard of Oz – for the latest issue of Lucia Rose Wedding Magazine.

.

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

Phoebe at Flossy & Leigh Makeup Artists Company, who put together the team, says:  Our first stop was to find a wedding photographer with a creative vision who would be able to take the idea and put their personal touch to the shoot.  It simply had to be the Christine Harrison Wedding Photography Team. Christine and Ian were given the brief and literally, their ideas blew us away. Both Christine & Ian have had years of experience shooting massively successful campaigns for top clients such as Barbour and Hunter, but nowadays they are concentrating their talents on the wedding world. HALLELUJAH!

Next we sourced our number one floral venue dresser. By now if you’re researching floral suppliers for your wedding, you’d have to be living under the sea to not have heard about Red Floral Architecture, the award winning company based in Hyde.  The owner and visionary Mat Hepplestone, took the brief and went off to create his Red Floral Interpretation. The results speak for themselves.  If you’re thinking flowers were just something you held down the aisle, think again.

.

Mat collaborated with the exquisitely talented Manchester-based Eleventh Heaven by Ann McKavney to create some of the unique sequin chairs you see featured. Ann also designed and created all of the bespoke hair accessories for the shoot. They often collaborate together to incorporate Ann’s crystal creations into his floral work (Red Heaven Rocks).

.

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

Just like with any bride, finding the dress is probably the biggest decision you’ll face. You need to go somewhere with lots of choice and honest friendly staff. We went straight to Prestwich to our friend Carol James at the twice County Bride award-winning Fairytale Brides.

.

The choice was endless. They stock Ian Stuart, My Lady, Justin Alexander, Essence of Australia also their Occasions shop stocks Ian Stuart Mother of the bride and John Charles, bridesmaids by Kelsey Rose, True Bride and Venus. The ‘black witch’ or ‘alternative bridesmaid’ dress featured, was from the Fairytale Occasions shop. Very unique and stunning to say the least.

.

All of the dresses used in the shoot were by Essence of Australia and are in stock now.

.

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

Then, we went straight to the stationery extraordinaire Deanna, at Deannamic Designs based in Clitheroe. Deanna was the natural choice here, as not only can she literally create anything and everything you want with her background in graphic design, but she can then use her creative and feminine touches to put her spin on the project.

..

Deanna created the solid hot air balloon seating plan that was designed to be hung up so that you could see the seating plan from both sides. She also was responsible for the production of the most imaginative wedding invitations and place settings one could ever imagine. The detail on all the stationery has to be seen to believed.

The number one choice for our themed cake had to be none other than the awesome Abi at Rotherham-based Butterflies and Angels.

Having shared so many brides with Carol Clayton, the designer at Crystal Bouquets by Tilly based in Leigh, we knew we there was nobody else for the job, when sourcing an Emerald crystal bouquet.

Ben and Sarah at The Ashes Exclusive Country House Barn Wedding Venue, in Staffordshire were as ever, only too happy to help. Any couple would be lucky to find such an obliging and friendly team around them on their wedding day. Nothing is too much trouble for the Ashes Team, winners of the 2013 Wedding Industry Award for venue in the North West.

.

.

Christine Harrison Photography

.

.

The whole day was captured on film by one of our favourite videographers, Hale based Rebecca Reville Wedding Films.

.

.

So although the original theme idea was ours, the success of this production lay in the team we picked.

However, for those of you wondering what sort of makeup and hair styling equipment (we do hair as well) we used to accomplish these looks, we would have to say the secret lies in our flawless and waterproof airbrushed makeup technique.

.

We used a number of different high-end cosmetics including: Temptu, Tom Ford, Shu Uemura, Chanel, MAC, Dior, Clarins, Urban Decay and Estée Lauder. A big secret styling weapon is always the lashes. For this particular shoot we used the awesome lash range by the ND Makeup Artists range, based in The North East. These can be found online for only £8 a pair, and can be reused.

.

In order to achieve the hair looks we prefer to use the state of the art salon equipment known as Cloud 9, for amazing results.

.

As with the everybody involved, we travel the entirety of the UK (and beyond), but have a base in Barrowford in Lancashire. We have very close links with everyone involved in the shoot and many more.

.

And remember, there’s no place like home!

Happy hump day Brides Up North… we are now officially on the downhill to the weekend! Our regular guest blogger Katy of What Katy Did Next is back with another double whammy of gorgeous wedding inspiration mood boards that should get your feathers ruffling!

.

Katy says:  This week’s wedding inspiration board is for bride to be Jane, who wanted inspiration for her November 2013 Wedding – in particular, accessories for her and her bridesmaids. Jane is having a beautifully plain white/ivory colour scheme with the only colour being the peacock blue of her bridesmaids filtering into the floral decor.

.
Although undecided on what flowers she will use, I have demonstrated the use of colour with elegant hydrangeas. On first thought I was unsure how I would find blue flowers in a tone to compliment the peacock colouring – however, I found a beautiful bouquet (left, centre image) with a lovely blue hiding amongst pale florals and greenery, which i feel is the perfect way to introduce the teal-like shade into your bouquet without the flowers looking artificial. I also experimented with using different hues of blue hydrangea in the palette – the top right bouquet works gorgeously with the bridesmaids’ dress colour – and fabulous on the ombre effect floral cake.

.
The bride’s dress is a beautiful ivory silk with embellished areas of lace and a sweetheart neckline and because of all the detail of the dress I have teamed this style with some chic satin heels, with a simple knotted detail – I particularly like the idea of wearing these as you ‘tie the knot’! If you are after something that is a closer match to your dress – why not buy a plain pair of shoes and decorate with shoe clips or find a dressmaker/accessories designer to customise them for you?

.
I like the idea of keeping the Bride’s accessories pale and colourless like the colour scheme – a neat lace headpiece or something pearly and decorative with crystals or sequins if you’re looking for an added bit of glam! You can be a bit more adventurous colour wise with the bridesmaid accessories – I’ve added two peacock hair clip styles, but if feathers aren’t your thing, keep it simple with some sparkly rhinestone grips or even mimic the lace of your dress in their hair accessories. Alternatively you could treat your maids to some gorgeous statement earrings – drop or chandelier earrings speak for themselves meaning you don’t even need hair accessories or a necklace.

.
I hope this has helped inspire! Keep your theme/colour requests coming in to myself and Julia – lets hope for some much better weather so we can have some fun with Spring shades!

.

.

Remember: the plan is to share a new inspiration board in this time slot every other week, either compiled by myself, regular guest blogger Katy or YOU: get in touch with your own ideas and inspiration boards! We’ll be discussing our inspirations behind the images too so it’s simply going to be a whole load of lovely.

.

If you are a little less arty but in need of inspiration and still want to play along, we will also be taking requests for colour schemes and themes and making bespoke boards for my readers. Please contact me to suggest a theme or colour scheme.
