We’re getting your week off to a glorious start with a wedding at one of our very favourite Yorkshire venues – The Mansion in Leeds. Situated in the stunning surroundings of Roundhay Park, this gem of a venue is chic and stylish with elegant décor and opulent touches in the furnishings and fittings for a big day that brims with luxury.

Sound up your street? Then be sure to join us at our Luxury Wedding Show at this spectacular venue on Sunday 28th October, 11am to 2pm, FREE ENTRY, when you will be able to appreciate its beauty first hand while meeting the super-efficient and knowledge team from Dine who run The Mansion providing first class catering and faultless service. Furthermore, we’ll be joined by a selection of the area’s very best wedding suppliers to help bringing together every element of your big day seamlessly.

You never know, you might just fall in love with The Mansion at first slight, just as today’s featured couple, Scott and Samantha, did.

Opting for a vintage style wedding with rustic touches, Samantha’s gorgeous Enzoani gown set the tone for the day with beautiful detailed lace overlay and long flowing train, finished off beautifully with a dazzling back jewellery piece that’s sending our eyes all heart-shaped.

The ‘just picked’ style flowers add a rustic twist along with the beautiful floral print stationery produced by graphic designer groom Scott.

Other highlights for us include the stylish laser-cut name places, the men’s dapper navy suits and not forgetting those beautiful magenta tone bridesmaid gowns – otherwise expertly described by Samantha’s dad as “summer fruits yoghurt” – a truly delicious hue indeed!

samantha says: We got engaged on New Year’s Eve in 2016. Scott proposed at home before we set off to Leeds for dinner at San Carlo (our favourite restaurant). Later we met friends to celebrate and ring in the New Year!

We got married on 4th August 2018. We both knew we wanted a summer wedding but, as I’m a teacher, the school summer holidays were an ideal time.

We held both our ceremony and reception at The Mansion, Leeds. It was the first venue we both viewed and we instantly fell in love with it. We booked it the same day! We particularly loved the sweeping staircase, the chandelier and its perfect location, overlooking Roundhay Park. We would absolutely recommend it – it’s simply stunning. We were worried about having the public in the park but it was no bother at all on the day. Craig Squelch, our wedding planner from Dine , was unbelievable. Everything went to plan – apart from the fire alarm going off, but this only added to the memories of our day.

The theme of the wedding was vintage/rustic. Scott works as a graphic designer so he set the tone with his save the date cards and it went from there, really. Colour-wise, Scott knew he wanted the boys in navy and, as my dress was a non-traditional colour (mocha with an ivory lace), matching up the bridesmaids with the groomsmen and bride was initially tricky. It was by chance that we came across the deep pink/purple dresses the girls wore, which were purchased from Biba. The shade is difficult to describe when people ask – we often jokingly referred to it as “summer fruits yoghurt” as my dad said that was what it reminded him of when he first saw them! The dresses with the navy suits really worked with the darker wedding dress I had chosen.

My dress is called Hollywood by Enzoani. I tried on dozens of dresses before I visited Broughton’s Bridals in Garforth. After trying many dresses on there, Sam, the owner, suggested the Hollywood. On the hanger, it didn’t look much but, when I put it on, things got emotional – my mum and grandma both began with the tears as soon as I stepped out wearing it. Adding the five-string back jewellery piece finished it off perfectly (this was an additional accessory purchased separately from Broughton’s to complement the dress). The saying really does go – when you know, you know!

Scott hired French Connection suits from Moss Bros for him, the bridesman and the groomsmen.

This evening on the blog, we’re sharing with you Alexandra and Adrian’s picturesque summer wedding.

Celebrating with friends and family at the luxury five-star Hillbark Hotel in the Wirral, the couple opted for a pared back, elegant look with a cornflower blue colour scheme, which was beautifully offset by floral arrangements of lilies, hydrangeas and roses with pale blue delphiniums.

alexandra says: We got engaged on 7th June 2015, at our apartment in Spain. It was our six-year anniversary and we were having champagne on the terrace when Adrian surprised me with a photo book of our time together. On the last page it said he had a question to ask and then he got down on one knee; it was perfect!

We got married on 25th June 2016. We wanted a summer wedding roughly a year after our engagement. We looked at when our church and venue were both available and 25th it was!

We tied the knot at St Joseph’s Church in Crosby. I’m from Crosby and this is the church I went to when I was younger.

We hosted our reception at the Hillbark Hotel in the Wirral. When we viewed the venue, we fell in love with it, plus we didn’t know anyone who had already been married there, which was important to us.

We didn’t have a specific theme, instead we wanted a classic, fresh look and our florist and wedding coordinators were fantastic at achieving this.

For our colour scheme, we chose cornflower blue. As we were having a summer wedding we wanted a light, summery colour and it was our favourite next to my white dress and the groomsmen’s blue suits.

What To Wear To A Wedding: Black Tie

May 28th, 2011 | Julia Braime

.

As a wedding blogger, I was expecting to chat to lots of brides to be, but I have also had a number of emails recently from wedding guests.  The topic could be anything from wedding gift ideas to bringing your baby protocol to plus one panics, but one theme that comes up time and time again is that age old what to wear conundrum.

.

I thought that I would help out the sartorially challenged amongst us by creating a series of posts to guide you through the fashion minefield that attending a wedding can be.  First up, a swanky black tie wedding.

.

The first rule of dressing for a wedding is always do what it says on the tin – adhere to the dress code.  If you don’t, you will just annoy the bride and end up feeling silly.  This is a time to blend in, but with panache!

.

If the invitation says black tie that means dinner jackets and dickie bows for the guys, long gowns for the girls.  Most importantly, your long gown should be any colour other than white, ivory, champagne or very pale pink. Show some sense woman!

.

Here are two similar looks at two different budgets.  Sexy senorita!
