Well, its been an absolutely EPIC Spring season of luxury bridal events, all with our unique and fun-loving Brides Up North spin on ’em (our shows really are the best in the business!), but we’re not quite done just yet…

We’ve already told you about our UNVEILED Wedding Wonderland, taking place at Rockliffe Hall this weekend, but for you Yorkshire brides and grooms, we couldn’t end the season without one last festival-style hooray!

We’re extending the WEDFEST’17 ever so naughtily, with one more pop up wedding festival fair, this weekend at Bolton Abbey lakeside, in partnership with events experts Dine, with elegant canvas canopies – an aurora sailcloth marquee and two hat tipi – by our friends at Shades and Tipi Chic.  THIS Sunday 4th June 2017, 11am till 3pm, FREE ENTRY for registered brides (one registration needed per vehicle),

The event has grown a little since we signed off on our artwork above, and we now have nearly 30 of Yorkshire’s finest suppliers in attendance, and every detail covered for your big day, all under our warm and weatherproof structures (so don’t mind if theres a spot of rain on the forecast… the pretty goes on!) in this area of absolutely stunning natural beauty, in the shade of the historic Abbey.

Occupying a superb position alongside the River Wharfe, this wonderful North Yorkshire location offers a fantastic combination of historic natural countryside setting with the most luxurious facilities. The marquee site provides the perfect place to take in the views of the spectacular Wharfe valley and the Abbey ruins, whilst watching the sun set over the river.

Dine have launched a number of exquisite marquee locations, all of them individual and offering you an exclusive setting to host your marquee celebration. If you have set your heart on a marquee wedding, but aren’t sure of the next steps, come along on Sunday to speak to their dedicated experts.

colour me pretty. ronald joyce for a vibrant wedding at bolton abbey – clare & dan

January 6th, 2016 | Rachel Parry

Devonshire-Arms-Wedding

This morning’s real wedding is all about colour with pops of vibrant hues peppered throughout the celebrations.

We adore bride Clare’s gorgeous Ronald Joyce lace dress, complete with veil and elegant faux fur cape. Other highlights include the stunning setting, the maids’ pretty Jenny Packham gowns and a rather sweet page boy – what a cutie!

clare says:We were in Ambleside, in the Lake District, when we got engaged. We had gone out for the day on a boat across Windemere with our little boy Harry. Dan was acting very strange to the point where I thought he had gone off me! I got increasingly more anxious and wasn’t too impressed when he asked me to walk the long way home. Mid way through, there is the most amazing view over the mountains where we pass daily to go for breakfast. It was here where he practically stumbled onto one knee (with Harry on his back) and asked me. Needless to say, my mood changed very quickly!

We set the date for 27th March 2015. It was originally going to be 7th November 2014 – I had always dreamed of a winter wedding – however, we had a little surprise in a baby girl, Mollie. She was born on the 4th November and so we thought it would be a bit tight to go through with the wedding then. Spring is always a fabulous time of year and we then imagined daffodils and a brighter sky (which we got) at our chosen venue and the decision was made for a March wedding.

We had a church ceremony and then went onto Bolton Abbey, in Skipton, for the reception. We had thought about getting married near where we live in Oxford, but after having a walk around the grounds when visiting Dan’s parents in Menston we both fell in love with the place.

our love story. kala & andy

August 13th, 2015 | Rachel Parry

An Engagement Shoot at Bolton Abbey (c) Ellie Grace Photography (21)

This afternoon we’re heading to North Yorkshire, to meet husband and wife-to-be Andy and Kala, as they share their gorgeous engagement shoot with us.

The shoot took place at the beautiful Bolton Abbey where Andy and Kala spend a lot of their time walking their cute dogs, Beren and Roxi. Photographers are often warned not to work with animals, but in this case the handsome hounds look good as gold, posing obediently in front of the lens.

It’s just a matter of days now until these high school sweethearts tie the knot at Halifax Minster. Good luck guys, we can’t wait to see the photos!

kala says: We got engaged Christmas day 2006. Andy proposed to me at my nan and grandad’s house when we went for Christmas dinner. It was a complete surprise to me, although we had been looking at rings. He later revealed that he had nervously asked my dad’s permission then had been secretly arranging it with my grandparents.

We get married on Thursday 20th August 2015 at the beautiful Halifax Minster, West Yorkshire.

We met at school, high school sweethearts! Our first date was on my birthday, we went into town and then to the cinema. We both have a great passion for films and still have our ‘date nights’ at the cinema now. It was true love and here we are 12 years later.

I knew that Andy was the one from the word go! I felt so comfortable with Andy; he gets on great with my family and our friends. We both love sharing our hobbies and we just have such a laugh. Naturally he does my head in most of the time but we really are best friends and I couldn’t be without him.

Andy says he knew I was a keeper when I didn’t freak out after I nearly drown when he took me kayaking with my friends for the first time!

I love Andy’s personality. He gets on with everyone, he’s adventurous and very caring. The only thing that really drives me mental is his habit of tapping his feet all the time!

Our biggest wish for married life is simply for nothing to change! We just want to continue as we have been for the last 12 years, best friends and totally in love.

We chose to have an engagement shoot for a number of reasons; we wanted relaxed pictures with our fur babies Roxi and Beren, Bolton Abbey is such a beautiful place and we wanted a chance to get to know Ellie, our photographer, a bit more before the big day

We loved the shoot! Although a little nervous at first, Ellie made us very relaxed and everything was very natural. I think it’s made us more excited for the day and it think it’s made me (I’m a bit camera shy) a bit more relaxed about having my picture taken all day.

We have already picked our favourite pictures from the shoot and have had them printed for family.

I love Brides Up North for all the ideas and inspiration that people share about their weddings. We’d love to come back and share our big day on the blog, if you’ll have us?
