It’s the most wonderful time of the year (well, almost), as the countdown is on to British and International bridal designers unveiling their hotly-anticipated new collections at The White Gallery in London, next month.
We make no secret that this is one of our absolute highlights of the year, and we’re sure you’ll all agree with us, for what girl doesn’t love pouring over stunning wedding dresses and admiring designers’ talents in pushing creative boundaries to produce gowns that are heart-stoppingly beautiful!?
Though we can’t take you all to the FROW with us, we have a huge treat in store for you today as we’re sharing a super special preview of our Lead Sponsor Charlotte Balbier’s gorgeous new collection for 2018 – Bohemian Blush – which is set to be officially launched at The White Gallery, making this kind of a big deal!
Perfectly girly and beautifully feminine, we are uber fans of Charlotte’s truly swoon-worthy creations and always look forward to seeing what this stylish lady has in store for us next – and we can safely say she’s outdone herself once again, as the latest offering is her best yet!
As fellow fans will know, Charlotte has embraced the boho look in her previous dress designs, but this time around she’s gone with an all-out, injecting a breezy boho vibe into the entire Bohemian Blush collection.
Rightly so, every bride dreams her bridal gown will stand out and be remembered forever, and in this latest collection its clear to see that Charlotte has paid the utmost attention to detail to give each gown its own unique touch and character. There is the captivating Halo gown that is handcrafted with 3D floral fabrics; the Klara gown, which embraces sequins on sheer skin, and the stunning Jayde floral gown in an exclusive print to the house of Balbier, which is topped off with a fashion-forward bow.
All the gowns are hand-created from the finest French laces, soft flowing chiffons, layered organzas, rich Mikados and silk tulles. The 2018 colour palette introduces sweet tones of ballet pink, sugared peach, blush pinks and peach, pearled ivory and a pistachio green, alongside the classic ever-popular ivory and champagne shades.
charlotte says: We have always created dresses for a bride who knows who she is, to be their own kind of beauty and celebrate their individuality.
This collection celebrates the free-spirited women and Bohemian spirit. I created the Bohemian Blush collection for brides to be gorgeously unique; the gowns are easy and effortless. Whether her dream day is running through a woodland barefoot or wearing a flower crown, this sassy collection will appeal to all.
I’ve fused together my two style crushes of boho and pretty to create this delicious collection.
If (like us) you’ve already developed a serious crush on Bohemian Blush, you will be pleased to hear that we will be bringing you more on the collection soon, so watch-this-space!

Understated glamour is the buzz phrase within 2017 bridal collections as designers strip back the beads, pearls and crystals to create fuss-free and flawless gowns with minimal detailing.
Perfect for those who believe that less is more, the fresh designs are all about clean lines and cuts with an emphasis on rich and luxurious looking materials that help to heighten the elegance. From sleek, slimline designs to eye-catching A-lines, there’s a style and silhouette to suit all shapes and sizes.
And if the perfectly plain creations are a step too sophisticated for some, there are designs featuring feminine detailing in pretty bows and soft lace trims as well as those with deep backs, plunging v-necklines and thigh-high splits, for the more daring bride to bare little skin.
For a truly classic look we love the structured and more traditional designs in rich Mikado silks. Meanwhile for the fashionista bride, there are beautifully uncomplicated jumpsuits and simple separates that provide a more on-trend alternative to the stripped-back trend.
Spanish designers in particular are doing the look on point, with ultra-ladylike designs coming from Rosa Clara and Pronovias, while Jesus Peiro offers more striking and statement pieces. Favourites for us include the stunning slim-line Nantes gown by Rosa Clara and the feminine yet flirty Tabina by Pronovias.
British designer Sassi Holford has also executed the art of simplicity beautifully within her recent collections with Davina and Darcy both proving to be big hits on The White Gallery catwalk earlier this year, and one of our favourite gowns from Charlotte Balbier‘s Untamed Love had to be the delicious Agatha.
Those that choose to go down the clean route can opt to keep their accessories and styling in line with the style with subtle jewellery and neat hair, or alternatively make more of an impact with statement jewellery and modern, undone hair styling to complete their desired bridal look.

This morning on the wedding blog, it’s time for a bit of eye candy from one of our favourite new British luxury bridal design finds, andrea hawkes.
With a first class degree in Fashion Design, Andrea Hawkes set up her studio back in 2013 having worked for some of the most established British Bridal Designers in London.
From designing one off commissions she started to see a demand for a more simplistic approach to bridal design and the experience of searching for a wedding dress. This inspired her to design a collection of classic dress shapes using luxurious European fabrics such as Italian silks and French laces.

Is there anything more exciting than sitting front row catwalk knowing that you’re among a select few to about to clap eyes on a designer’s brand new collection for the very first time? We think not.
We were therefore delighted, enthused and excited when an invitation to the launch of Amanda Wyatt’s 2016 Collection, cutely named promises of love, arrived here at Brides Up North HQ. Today we’re extending that invitation further by sharing the designs with you, our fabulous readers, here on the wedding blog.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with Amanda and her gorgeous creations it’s time to come out from underneath that rock as Ms Wyatt is a pretty big deal, having been a leading name in British bridal for more than 20 years.
Forward thinking Amanda is known for creating gowns that not only look amazing, but also that make her brides feel amazing thanks to their fabulous fit, quality fabrics and sensational detailing, so we were confident that the latest collection would be just as fabulous as those that have gone before.
And we weren’t wrong – cue soft flowing chiffons, French and Italian laces, fine tulle and rich satins, adorned with frosted pearl beading and embellished details. This lady sure knows how to make us (and plenty of other pretty-loving ladies) go weak at the knees.
As the lights dimmed the music kicked in and the models stepped out to flaunt Amanda’s fabulous frocks. From sleek slim-line designs and flattering A-line silhouettes to short 50s style dresses and perfect princess gowns, Promises Of Love had covered all bases meaning that there was quite literally ‘the one’ for everyone. And this lady is not only big on offering brides a wide range of looks, but also a wide range of sizes as not to exclude more curvaceous ladies from the wonderful Amanda Wyatt party.
Further choice was provided with Amanda’s exciting colour palette which strayed beyond classic ivory hues with some gowns in soft gold, blush pinks and even powder blue.
Standout favourites for us Brides Up North girls included the headline gown of the collection, Promise – a slim design featuring delicate lace and a pretty fluid skirt. In terms of fuller designs there were plenty to choose from, including regal satin gowns and romantic tulle offerings with varying levels of detail.
In a nod to the princess of the moment, and no we’re not talking Kate Middleton, the collection features a design named Elsa (Frozen fans will get the reference). Available in ivory or powder blue, (just like the Disney sovereign herself) this gown is what fairytales are made of with its voluminous tulle layered skirt and angelic lace detail.
Those planning a city centre or destination wedding may well be drawn to the cute shorter length gowns in the collection, such as Nia and Cupid, which certainly caught our eye on the catwalk.
There was however one particular dress that got us wishing for an impromptu proposal (from quite literally anyone) just so that we could put it on – Chantilly. High fashion and hot, we mean hot, this sultry little number is a guaranteed head-turner with its plunging neckline, elegant lace top and slinky skirt. Pure perfection!
Following the catwalk show, leading lady Amanda talked us through the collection dress by dress, explaining the inspiration behind the designs, which in a lot of cases included listening to brides’ feedback via stockists and giving them exactly what they asked for, showing that this talented lady has a real connection to her clients.
Amanda also explained that the collection had been designed with matching accessories to complement each gown, with additions including soft tulle silk veils and delicate hair accessories.
Finally we were given a taste of the beautiful bridesmaid gown styles that Amanda has added to her increasingly popular maids’ collection for 2015, meaning both you and your gals can be styled by Wyatt for your big day.
And that, our friends, is one promise worth keeping.
