This weekend we’re handing over the blogging reins to our guest writer, the lovely Sophie Grabham, Online Editor at Love Our Wedding Magazine, to fill us in on all the new bridal shoe trends for the year ahead…
sophie says: Gorgeous wedding shoes have always been the perfect finishing touch to any bridal look, but with shorter hemlines and high-low dresses growing in popularity, they’re more important than ever before!
Brides are now looking for show-stopping heels that play a big part in their overall look. So whether you’re in search of something comfy and low, or sky-high and striking, here are a few 2017 top trends to look out when choosing your perfect pair…
Rachel Simpson – Ginger
Ultra-glam and bang on-trend, metallics are a great choice for stylish brides. Confident, fashion-forward brides can opt for a full-on metallic design, while those looking for a more chic and timeless style may prefer to stick to metallic detailing or muted tones. Check out this gorgeous design from Rachel Simpson, for a vintage twist on metallics.
Following on from metallics, sequins are also big news for 2017! This trend is everywhere in the wedding world right now, from bridesmaid dresses to table runners, so it’s no surprise that shoe designers have embraced the trend, too. From all-out glamour, to subtle hints of sparkle, make the sequin trend work for you by finding a design to suit your style. Rainbow Club have a stunning selection of sequin shoes and matching clutch bags this season, as do Pink by Paradox.
Pink by Paradox – Eve
A great way to add a pop of colour to your bridal look is by wearing a funky pair of colourful heels. Feeling brave? Go for a bright and beautiful pair to really stand out from the crowd, perhaps with a bold floral print – another key trend for 2017. If you’re more of a pastels girl, try chic shades of blush, champagne or nude. Or, why not choose a blue shade, so your heels can double up as your ‘something blue’? Rainbow Club offer a great shoe dyeing service, making it easy to match your shoes to your scheme.
One trend we adore, especially for autumn/winter weddings, is bridal boots. We love this chic pair by Harriet Wilde that will keep you looking stylish and feeling warm! What more could you ask for?
Rainbow Club – Harlow
Forget heels sinking in the sand, the latest trend for barefoot sandals is a real game changer for those marrying abroad. The romantic boho designs simply adorn the top of the foot, and are ideal for laid-back summer celebrations. Forever Soles have a stunning range, including silver, beaded and crochet designs, that will have you looking effortlessly elegant.
Personalise your look and jazz-up a plain pair of heels with beautiful shoe clips. Customising a non-bridal shoe will mean you can wear them again and again after the big day, and is also a great option for matching up your bridesmaids shoes, too. Again, Rachel Simpson has some stunning designs, including embellished and floral style clips, that will instantly make your footwear fancy. Check out Brides Up North Sponsor Charlotte Mills‘s collection too.

You’re in for a treat this afternoon as we take a look at the stunning new wedding shoe collection from our super-talented Sponsor Charlotte Mills Bridal. The master of all things sparkling, girly and pretty, Charlotte’s creations instantly send us weak at the knees and are an absolute must for brides wanting standout footwear that’s fashionable and fun.
Expanding on her already impressive range, the new collection includes several new shoe and handbag designs for SS16/17, which are available to buy online, at selected bridal boutiques and directly from Miss Mill’s sweet boutique, located in the gorgeous village of Saddleworth, Oldham.
So without further ado we’ll leave you to swoon over the new collection with the leading lady herself on hand to explain a little more about the dazzling designs…
Tell us where the inspiration for the new collection came from…
charlotte says: For the SS16/17 season, my designs take inspiration from Havana nights with a bridal twist. Metallics, including rose gold, and soft nude nappa leathers make the styles perfect to wear again beyond the big day.
To put the collection together I studied Vintage Havana, its fashion and designs from the art deco and art nouveau eras. I love the architecture and style of this time and the fact it’s still relevant today.
Overall I’d say my collections are always a romantic, yet fun mix of something old and something new.
Do you have a personal favourite design within the new collection?
I love Calle – it’s so on trend and looks amazing on the foot. It’s a timeless style which could easily be worn again after the wedding day has been and gone.
What are the main colours, fabrics and details used within the new collection?
Metallics in pale gold and rose gold with ivory and nude leathers. We have also added a gorgeous new glitter which looks like crushed pearls.
Which design from the new collection would you suggest for brides wanting to make a real style statement with their footwear?
Cindy really makes a statement with the block heel and oversized bow. The glitter is amazing when it catches the light and the leather has a pearlized finish too.

Prepare to fall head over heels in love (and reach for your credit card) ladies, as we welcome Brides Up North Sponsor, and true Northern gal, Charlotte Mills, to the blog.
For those of you who’ve not come across Charlotte before, this uber-talented lady creates to-die-for bridal shoes that are fashionable, girly and fun. From first setting eyes on her swoon-worthy designs we knew Charlotte would go far with brides unable to resist her super gorgeous heels.
What we love most about Charlotte’s collections is the versatility within; from high stilettoes that wrap around the leg, to cute flats detailed with hearts and stunning block glitter heels, there really is something for all – better still these shoes can easily be worn well beyond he wedding day.
We could go on all day, but instead we thought best to let Charlotte tell you all about her fancy footwear, oh and her lovely new North West boutique too!
Tell us a little about your background and how you came to be in the wedding industry?
charlotte says: For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to design shoes. I attended Cordwainers at London College of Fashion where I gained my BA in footwear design. I knew I wanted to create my own brand after designing a bridal footwear range for my final year show. This is where the dream began. After university I worked as a footwear design manager for a variety of UK brands until I felt the time was right to launch the Charlotte Mills brand in April 2014.
What is it about bridal shoes that you love?
It amazing to be able to design something which someone will love and want to wear on their wedding day to show a little bit of their personality. I find this really inspiring.
How would you describe the style of your collections and designs?
Fun yet stylish shoes, which stand out from the crowd.
What would you say is important in the design of bridal footwear?
I want to create something different to what is already on the market, brides should fall in love with their wedding shoes and not just settle. I find that creating styles which are fashion forward is important. I want brides to be able to wear their shoes again after their wedding day.

If there’s one type of shopping us Brides Up North girls love, it’s shoe shopping! That’s why we’re super excited to be introducing our new blog sponsor Pink Paradox, to you lovely brides-to-be today.
Though it’s tempting to take a magpie approach to buying your bridal footwear; snapping up the first pair of sparkling skyscrapers you find could leave you hobbling around midway through your big day if they’re not built for all-day wear.
Thankfully the experts at Pink Paradox provide fancy footwear that scores equally high in the comfort and style stakes – plus there’s an option for all tastes. From sophisticated sling backs and pretty peep-toe platforms, to elegant kitten heels and fashionable flats – ladies, you will literally be spoilt for choice!
And if that weren’t enough, Pink Paradox also offer a fabulous range of dyeable shoes, meaning you can have your footwear matched to your exact colour specifications (perhaps to provide that something blue?). Here to fill you in on all the details are the creators themselves…
Can you give us an overview of Pink Paradox and what it offers to brides?
Pink Paradox say: We started out in 2002 after identifying a gap in the market for bridal shoes that are stylish yet comfortable so Pink Paradox was born. What we offer brides is affordable and comfortable heels whilst not sacrificing any of the style!
How important do you feel shoes are to a bride’s wedding day attire?
We could be slightly bias here but incredibly important! Not necessarily from just a style point of view, but this is one of the biggest days of your life you’re going to be on your feet for most of the day, from walking down the aisle to your first dance, and then finding and talking to all your guests. You’ve got to make sure you have shoes you can actually walk in; and luckily that’s what we specialise in!
What advice would you give to brides when picking their wedding shoes?
Have a selection ready and try them all on; which ones are comfortable, which can you walk in? Our best tip is to make sure brides go for something they would usually wear, do not be tempted to go for extremes as you don’t want to end up regretting it on the day!
Can you give us an overview of the different styles of wedding shoes that Pink Paradox offer?
We have quite a range on offer so we can cater to most wedding parties! We have high heels for the daring bride, mid-heels for the confident bride, flats, laced, sparkling, pleated – we can go on! With a range available we can provide heels for the bride for during the day, for the reception, for the mother of the bride and even for the bridesmaids!
