Some of our very favourite recent real weddings and styled shoots like this one here (and you know we get through our fair share of those here at Brides Up North HQ!) all had one thing in common – the venue.  Saltmarshe Hall was a name that kept cropping up again and again in our most stylish celebrations, so we just had to find out more. One thing led to another – as these things often do – and that curiosity was the start of a (VERY) beautiful friendship!

Now a permanent fixture in our diary, we are delighted to present another Brides Up North Bespoke Luxury Wedding Fair at Saltmarshe Hall on Sunday 22nd October 2017, to showcase the venue and a truly handpicked selection of the area’s most fabulous wedding suppliers. As those of us sporting a sparkler on our ring finger know all too well, the best things come in smaller packages. As wedding inspiration goes, this event is one of our best!

This event is pure luxury, an open doors, friendly soiree, to show you exactly why Saltmarshe (and our chosen supplier team) is so very special. If you are on a venue hunt, or are simply looking to finalise the last wedding details with the very best industry bods available in a relaxed and stunning, no pressure environment, then you must put next Sunday in your diary.

We’ll be showing off our most fabulous find yet – East Yorkshire’s most romantic wedding venue – between 12pm and 3pm on Sunday 22nd October, and as with all of our events, entry is FREE.

A restored Georgian Grade II listed Hall with a dash of style and elegance combining both traditional and contemporary charm and set in 17 acres of stunning parkland, Saltmarshe Hall is a truly unique place to say I do. The Saltmarshe ethos is to listen to what you want; and we love that they don’t enforce any off the shelf packages, rather letting their couples’ creative input flourish.

All the rooms are licensed for ceremonies and there’s also the option to hold your ceremony outdoors.  The team also promise to never hold more than one wedding per day at Saltmarshe Hall, so that the venue is truly your home – and blank canvas – for your personal celebration.

Things are pretty crazy behind the scenes here at Brides Up North Towers as we find ourselves in the full swing of our wonderful wedding fair season. It feels like there might be confetti and canapés in every orifice right now, and we’re not stopping yet! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

This weekend, we are preparing to launch a brand new wedding venue to the Cheshire scene: the beautiful Stock Farm Wedding Barn. Box fresh, this brilliant barn wedding venue that forms part of the famous Tatton Estate is one not to be missed from your location low down.  We are so excited to finally show it off!

We’ll be putting on a pop up mini wedding festival this Sunday 10th September 2017 from 11am till 3pm. As always, the event is free entry (we like spoiling you!) and packed to the rafters with the area’s best wedding day suppliers, from dream dresses to cute cakes.  Whether you’ve got your venue sorted or not, this is a day full of fun and inspiration, with a distinctly boho vibe.

So, flower crowns at the ready once more, and we’ll see you at Stock!

Planned as a luxury immersive experience to let you truly see why Newby Hall and it’s surroundings are so special, you’ll start in the stunning Hall where you’ll meet the first of our wedding experts and then make your way across the torch lined lawn and through the manicured hedges to discover our “Secret Garden” collection of suppliers, waiting for you in Newby’s stunning glasshouse and marquee. Watch out for our beautifully dressed ceremony and wedding decor inspiration areas as you go!

cool character: the bowdon rooms, cheshire

If you’re currently on the hunt for a venue with individual features, charm and class, plus that’s totally private and a space you can truly make your own – then you’re in luck! For today we are catching up with our fabulous Sponsor venue, the stunning Bowdon Rooms.

Located in the leafy idyll of Bowdon, near Altrincham, Cheshire, this really is a rare gem of a venue, complete with high ceilings, sparkling drapes and ornate fireplaces and features. Furthermore, (for you party lovers out there) it boasts a sprung dancefloor and stage large enough for an 18-piece swing band, so dancing shoes are a must!

Impressed? Us too! And that’s why we regularly visit The Bowdon Rooms to stage one of our Luxury Wedding Fairs, inviting couples to come and see this beauty for themselves. Our next event at the venue – a Mini Pop-Up Wedding Festival – will take place on Sunday 5th November, 11am to 3pm, and its FREE ENTRY, so there really is no excuse to miss out! We’ll be joined there by the areas crème de la crème of wedding suppliers to help bring all your big day plans together.

To whet your appetite in the meantime, we’re handing over the blog to director of The Bowdon Rooms Neil Hughes, to tell us more about this spectacular space.

Can you tell us about the style and history of The Bowdon Rooms?

neil says: Our luxury wedding venue in Cheshire is a charming building that offers an abundance of authentic character and beautiful features. More than 110 years old, the property’s Edwardian decadence will offer you and your guests a superior environment.

Amid subtle yet exquisite details of art nouveau charm, you can relax and dine in our glorious ballroom, with its stunning chandeliers suspended from a 40-foot domed ceiling, against a backdrop of romantically-lit voiles.

What types of couples does the venue appeal too?

The Bowdon Rooms is definitely suited to couples who would like an authentic vintage venue, that is what we are. We have over 100 years of unspoilt architecture and features. And because we also host live music, we attract couples who wish to party, with fantastic live bands playing on our stage at most functions. We have a full sound and light system, in house engineers and event managers you can trust. Plus, a late licence until 1am.

Can you tell us about its reception rooms?

The ballroom – Our beautiful spacious ballroom seats up to 230 guests and offers a stage large enough for an 18-piece swing band. With a fully-integrated lighting system and an experienced team to help create your ideal theme, we have everything to inspire and deliver – all under one roof. It is a period ballroom with chandeliers and has a fully-sprung maple dance floor to really get the party in full swing.

The lounge – Our other reception room is located on the first floor and offers a more intimate environment. An air-conditioned jazz lounge at the top of the building. It accommodates up to 90 guests and is perfect for wedding reception drinks or civil ceremonies. It can either be set as a 1940’s speakeasy, or a modern voile lit lounge.

What would you say are the unique and special features of The Bowdon Rooms?

We were built in 1905, so we do really have an abundance of period features; from sprung dance floor to fireplaces, to those hard to describe nooks and crannies – but they all ooze charm. We have two huge chandeliers that tower above the ballroom adding a touch of elegance.

How can couples really make the space their own?

We love having couples help design their own special day, so just ask about anything at all. Couples can choose their own colour scheme as we can completely dress the room in their fabric of choice, and they can also work on table decorations, favours, table layouts – in fact nearly every aspect of the wedding. We also have plenty of couples who provide their own band.

Tell us about the food and drink options available at the venue…

We do all of the catering with our team of award-winning chefs. They have worked around the world and provide every type of food; from an informal Mediterranean risotto to a formal four-course meal. If couples want to go away from standard menus and personalise their choices, that’s fine, they can come in, meet with chefs and have a menu tasting.

How do the venue’s staff assist couples in planning their big day?

Every bride and groom are assigned their own wedding event manager. Karen has worked here for more than ten years, and Suzanne for more than six, so couples can rest assured that our team has a huge amount of experience.

What is the feedback like from couples who have married at The Bowdon Rooms?

Most couples love our flexibility; we are not a hotel with fixed packages. So, clients can really get involved, helping with table design, centre pieces and venue set-up. Quite often we have a team of ushers and bridesmaids in helping out, it makes for a very relaxing wedding party.

Well, its been an absolutely EPIC Spring season of luxury bridal events, all with our unique and fun-loving Brides Up North spin on ’em (our shows really are the best in the business!), but we’re not quite done just yet…

We’ve already told you about our UNVEILED Wedding Wonderland, taking place at Rockliffe Hall this weekend, but for you Yorkshire brides and grooms, we couldn’t end the season without one last festival-style hooray!

We’re extending the WEDFEST’17 ever so naughtily, with one more pop up wedding festival fair, this weekend at Bolton Abbey lakeside, in partnership with events experts Dine, with elegant canvas canopies – an aurora sailcloth marquee and two hat tipi – by our friends at Shades and Tipi Chic.  THIS Sunday 4th June 2017, 11am till 3pm, FREE ENTRY for registered brides (one registration needed per vehicle),

The event has grown a little since we signed off on our artwork above, and we now have nearly 30 of Yorkshire’s finest suppliers in attendance, and every detail covered for your big day, all under our warm and weatherproof structures (so don’t mind if theres a spot of rain on the forecast… the pretty goes on!) in this area of absolutely stunning natural beauty, in the shade of the historic Abbey.

Occupying a superb position alongside the River Wharfe, this wonderful North Yorkshire location offers a fantastic combination of historic natural countryside setting with the most luxurious facilities. The marquee site provides the perfect place to take in the views of the spectacular Wharfe valley and the Abbey ruins, whilst watching the sun set over the river.

Dine have launched a number of exquisite marquee locations, all of them individual and offering you an exclusive setting to host your marquee celebration. If you have set your heart on a marquee wedding, but aren’t sure of the next steps, come along on Sunday to speak to their dedicated experts.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks behind the scenes here at Brides Up North HQ (ok, it’s been a crazy seven years, but who’s counting…) as we prepare to bring you our three most exciting events to date* – our epic festival wedding fairs, the wedfest’17 tour – starting with the glorious WEDSTOCK’17 at Stockeld Park, Yorkshire this coming Sunday 7th May 2017, 11am till 4pm, FREE ENTRY**
