#girlsquad sorted: introducing joy’s bella bridesmaids

There’s no doubt that picking your bridesmaids can be a tricky task, but often choosing what they will wear for the big day can be even more difficult. There are different colours and styles to debate, and while one of your leading ladies might love your suggestions, another could take a little more convincing.

In order to help ensure shopping for your gals is an enjoyable rather than exasperating experience, we’re introducing you to our fabulous Sponsor Hannah of Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids, who has numerous bridesmaid dress designers and styles all under one roof with something to suit all ages, preferences and styles.

Frustrated that there wasn’t a special boutique that catered for groups of ladies to find the perfect gowns for their key role in the proceedings, owner Hannah Robinson set up Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids in North Yorkshire, which has proved hugely successful as news of its unique offering has spread.

With more than 300 different dress styles stocked at the boutique and a full floor dedicated to trying and fitting with spacious changing rooms and comfortable seating for brides to have fun with their bridesmaids, this is serious wedding #girlsquad heaven!

Sorella Vita

When and why did you decide to set up Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids?

hannah says: I set up the boutique in September 2015, I married in May 2015, and my sister got married the year before. We both really struggled to find somewhere to go to choose bridesmaids dresses. We found we had an amazing experience as a bride choosing our bridal gown but when it came to buying the bridesmaids dresses we were really limited. We couldn’t find a boutique that had a large selection of styles, colours and designers to try all in one place. I thought that there must be a better way to do things which led to opening Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids. I wanted to create the same experience for bridesmaids as the bride has. You choose your family and your best friends to be your bridesmaids, it is such an important and special time.

Where is Joy’s Bella Bridesmaids located and can you describe the boutique?

The boutique is in a rural location between York and Selby, in a converted granary. It’s definitely peaceful and a very relaxed atmosphere. When I was choosing premises for the shop I wanted somewhere a little off the beaten track with a lot of space and plenty of parking right outside. I think The Old Granary is perfect!

SorellaVita

Can you tell us a little about the designers that you stock at the boutique?

I stock Sorella Vita, Dessy, twobirds and Amanda Wyatt. I wanted to have the highest quality designers that offer the largest range of styles and colours. Each of my designers offer something different, whether it’s Dessy who offer such a variety of fabrics, Sorella Vita with their sequin collections, twobirds which have such an ingenious solution for a large number of bridesmaids or Amanda Wyatt who have matching styles for all ages.

How do you select the designers that you stock?

A lot of research! The designers have to mirror the image and feel that I am creating within the boutique, they have to be so focused on getting it right for the bride.

Do you also stock flower girl dresses too?

I do stock flower girls dresses, they range from classic ivory dresses with matching sash to so many different styles to coordinate with adult dresses.

Chic Chicks: twobirds Bridesmaid

June 13th, 2011 | Julia Braime

.

Brides Up North met the gorgeous Michelle from the equally gorgeous (not to mention innovative) twobirds Bridesmaid at the National Wedding Show at the Birmingham this spring.  Like any wedding blogger would, I oohed and ahhed over her beautiful and clever dresses and she promised to send me some information to share with my readers.  Check this out Brides Up North…

One Dress.  Two Sizes.  Four Lengths.  Nineteen Colours.  Over 15 ways to wrap.  No alterations.

Delighted Bridesmaids

.

I hope you are paying attention Brides Up North!  With a growing number of stockists up our way, you are going to want to listen up!  This is no gimmick.  I have seen these beauties up close and they are to. die. for.

.

Michelle tells us more:   Inspired by a 1970’s Norma Kamali ‘Infinity’ dress, the innovative twobirds dress is the ultimate fashion statement. Made from a luxurious jersey blend the dress is infinitely versatile and suits all shapes (yes, it is all the SAME dress). The design is classically stylish, timeless and can be worn differently over and over again well after the wedding, effectively killing two birds with one dress!

.

.

The brilliance of this design lies within the ingenious bodice straps that can be tied, twisted, knotted and folded to create a range of necklines from v-neck or strapless to capped sleeve. Bridesmaids can wrap it in any of the 15 ways, flattering their own figures and individual tastes while enabling brides to have the consistency they seek for the bridal party. Plus, their stretchy bandeaus are perfect for bridesmaids who’d like a little more coverage and bust support, making the styling process that much easier.

.

.

The dresses come in a range of nineteen cat walk inspired colours, from the muted pastel shades of Coral, Jasmine and Putty, vintage tones of Rosewater and Dusty Pink to more saturated hues like Windsor Navy and Cabernet Red.

.

.

Dresses are available in four different lengths and start at £205 for the classic collection. Check out the beautiful rosette collection, available in six colours, for a little extra something.

.

The best part, especially for those in a time crunch: The dresses come in just two sizes (4-18 and 20-26) and won’t require any alterations.

.

twobirds Bridesmaid

.

The dress is incredibly simple to style, but helpful twobirds has designed an iPhone app with short video tutorials to help you on your way. So when the time comes, there’ll be no hiccups with your bridesmaids’ dresses and you can focus on what’s really important: enjoying your big day. The videos can also be found on the website as can step by step sketches of each style.

.

As well as their London base in the UK, twobirds is now stocking a select number of bridal boutiques with the number growing each month. Check out the twobirds website for a list of stockists in the UK and Ireland. If you don’t have a stockist in your area, fear not, twobirds operates a handy sample programme. For the small sum of £25 they will send a dress to you to have for seven days for your wedding party to try on before you buy.

.

Plans are also afoot for appointment weekends to take place in cities that do not yet have a stockist – keep en eye on the homepage of their website for details or email uk@twobirdsbridesmaid.com

Wonder dress.  That’s all I’m saying!
