This afternoon we’re leaving the UK behind to relive Ashton and Mark’s dreamy wedding in Siena, Italy.

Brimming with romance, we can see why this bride and groom chose to leave their Yorkshire roots behind in favour of sunnier climes with stunning backdrops galore! Following their traditional church ceremony, Ashton and Mark then enjoyed a stunning outdoor reception complete with Italian food and drink. Sounds favoloso to us!

Ciao for now.

ashton says: Mark popped the question on the 9th July 2013, while we were on a brilliant holiday Croatia. Mark had initially planned to ask me to marry him on a walk up a ‘hill’ with a lovely view as a back drop. The ‘hill’ was actually a mountain, and I got a little bit grumpy so he decided it wasn’t the right time or place! That evening, after a lovely dinner, he got down on one knee in a secluded area of the old town in Split and I obviously said yes, whilst tears of happiness were streaming down my face. The ring was amazing, an art deco halo style, which Mark had got custom made for me in Hattton Garden, London. I was so excited to tell all my family and friends I rang up a £120 phone bill! Oops!

Our wedding date was the 31st July 2015, there was no real relevance of the date other than it was between both our birthdays and a date that Mark was likely to remember! The last day of July!

We are from Bradford in West Yorkshire but got married in Siena, Italy. We married in a Roman Catholic church, Certosa Di Pontignano, and then had our reception back at Villa Catignano where family and friends stayed for the wedding week. We both love travelling and always wanted to marry abroad. Italy was perfect; great food, wine, scenery and affordable so that friends and family could join us on our special day.

Do we have a treat for you on the blog this morning – a super opulent yet dreamily undone wedding shoot complete with stunning styling and models, all captured in the steel city of Sheffield.

Organised by Yorkshire-based jewellery and accessories designer, Gemma Trebble of Lovely Pretty Things, this captivating shoot takes inspiration from the glamorous 1920s but pares things back a little for a breezy bohemian twist, which we love!

As well as featuring Gemma’s splendid designs, the shoot also showcases the talents of some of Sheffield’s finest suppliers, and those from further afield have joined in too.

So here’s Gemma with all the details of the shoot and also an exclusive Brides Up North reader discount off her lovely collection:

Gemma is offering Brides Up North readers an exclusive discount of £5 off any purchase over £25 on her Etsy shop, using the code BRIDESUPNORTH. The online shop can be reached via Gemma’s website www.lovelyprettythings.co.uk, or directly by clicking here.

gemma says: I’ve wanted to plan a styled shoot for years, but didn’t really know where to start. They’re a fantastic way to network, meet other suppliers and get creative! The theme for the shoot was glamorous 1920s mixed with bohemian luxe. We wanted to avoid the Gatsby look that has been done so much in recent years, and wanted to go for something a little different. The plan was to really strip that style back and make it much more muted down, creating a timeless and edgy look.

Having decided on the style of the shoot, we knew we wanted a really grand venue for our backdrop and Cutlers Hall was top of the list to contact. I sent a tentative email asking if we could use the building, thinking it might be a long shot, but was pleasantly surprised when Chloe got straight back to me with a definite yes!

The venue is right in the middle of Sheffield city centre and even though I’d walked past it every day for years, I’d never actually been in. I was amazed by the scale and the grandeur of it when I went inside for the first time. I felt like I’d stumbled upon some sort of secret, and straight away knew it was the right venue for our vision for the shoot.
