Tell Brides Up North a little about the venue and its history…

apartment group say: Le Petit Chateau is a unique North East wedding venue in the beautiful country side, Otterburn, Northumberland. Hospitality at Le Petit Chateau started in the 17th century Coaching Inn, in its previous incarnation as The Percy Arms Hotel and has welcomed visitors across the decades – but never quite in the spectacular style it is today.

What facilities does the venue have?

It houses a bar, function rooms and 29 beautiful boutique bedrooms indoors, while outside there are stunning Mediterranean Gardens and a fabulous outdoor terrace. We also have a second phase of development planned with a spectacular riverside terrace coming soon!

Is Le Petit Chateau licensed for civil ceremonies and is there a choice of ceremony rooms/spaces?

Yes, Le Petit Chateau is an exclusive wedding venue with purposely built ceremony space. We have both indoor and outdoor spaces to suite all different shapes and size weddings. Our beautiful Belle Époque room is perfect setting for your vows, or if an outdoor wedding is more your style, our Mediterranean gardens full of tropical palm trees create a stunning backdrop for a garden ceremony. We can cater for up to 160 guests throughout the day and 220 on the evening.

What makes Le Petit Chateau a special wedding venue and sets you apart from others?

Le Petit Chateau is a fabulous new, unique wedding venue from the people who brought you the fabulous Newton Hall and the North East’s award winning premier leisure operator Apartment Group. Bringing the South of France to Northumberland, Le Petit Chateau’s décor is absolutely breath-taking and certainly offers the wow factor. Our exclusivity allows the wedding day to run exactly how our couples desire.

Is there a certain room or feature of the venue that instantly impresses couples?

The stunning Belle Époque room beautifully designed as the perfect ceremony setting is definitely a hit with brides and grooms. Outdoors meanwhile couples are impressed with the garden’s Mediterranean palms, fire pits and the spectacular fire on water fountain. All in all it creates a one of a kind venue, like no other!

spring romance – lemon & grey for a rustic wedding at healey barn – kay & neal

July 4th, 2016 | Julia Braime

A Rustic Wedding at Healey Barn (c) Paul Liddement Wedding Stories (29)

Well hello there readers, after a small blogging break we’re back, fired up and ready to go! To get things started we’re sharing this stunning rustic wedding, which took place at one of our Dream Venues, the gorgeous Healey Barn.

Letting the gorgeous building speak for itself, today’s bride and groom kept the décor simple with subtle nods to the season in their colour palette and flower choices. All in all a very pretty day featuring tears, smiles, kisses and laughter!

kay says: We got engaged in summer 2014, when we were on our ‘babymoon’ in Murcia. We went for a lovely romantic meal and half way through Neal got down on one knee and popped the question with the most beautiful ring – of course, I said yes. As we have always wanted a spring wedding we set the date for 18th March 2016.

Our chosen venue was Healey Barn in Riding Mill, Northumberland. As soon as we saw it we fell in love with the place. It is beautiful and was the perfect size for the wedding we wanted.

As the barn is so beautiful as it is there was no real need for us to ‘style’ or ‘theme’ the wedding and so our aim was purely to create a relaxed atmosphere for everyone. For the colour scheme we chose ‘happy’ spring colours as a nod to the season.

I wore a lovely fishtail style dress by Mori Lee, which I bought from a boutique called Brides Dream. I added a belt, for just a touch of sparkle, and wore cobalt blue heels as my something blue. Diva Dust then took care of mine and the bridesmaids’ makeup on the day of the wedding. Everyone looked beautiful.

dream venue: healey barn

January 12th, 2016 | Julia Braime

Healey Barn (2)

Healey Barn is is a wonderful new wedding venue in the Northumbrian countryside, near the small village of Healey, 6 miles south of Corbridge in the Tyne Valley, made up of a collection of traditional stone farm buildings surrounding a stunning sheltered courtyard.

Today, we’re thrilled to be able to give Brides Up North a private tour and add this gorgeousrelaxed & rustic setting to our dream venue list.

Healey Barn (6)

healey barn say: Our main building, the Long Barn, has a spectacular oak “raised cruck” roof, three giant candelabra, wall-mounted candle holders, a fairy-lit ceiling and, of course, a barn-sized stone fireplace. This creates an enchanting and romantic atmosphere, perfect for civil ceremonies or for the arrival point after a church wedding – and this later becomes the dance floor!

Joining the Long Barn is the Dining Room, the old cow byre, with another lovely oak roof, a glass wall looking into the Courtyard on one side, and windows to a fantastic Northumbrian view on the other. The Dining Room is spacious and luxurious for smaller numbers, but will accommodate higher numbers. At the end of the Dining Room is a copper-clad bar, which has a licence until 1am.

The Courtyard is sheltered by the buildings and is perfect for post-ceremony drinks on a mild day, and at night looks magical with fairy-lit trees, fire pits and lanterns. There are 3 giant oak planters with seats around them, 6 umbrella-topped trees, and various benches, cosy sun traps and planted troughs and borders. There is also a shelter with garden furniture; providing a covered outside area and a smokers’ refuge.

The northernmost building, the Store Room, contains smart toilets and also the Bride’s Room, where, before civil ceremonies, the Bride can arrive discreetly and see the registrars before making her entrance into the Long Room.

If it is a relaxed feel a couple want, with incredible food and great service, this is the place for them!

What facilities does it have?

Couples have exclusive use of the barn during their wedding. We have a civil ceremony licence – inside and outside and we have a music and bar licence till 1am. We have a separate ceremony room, dining room and bridal room – so the day will flow naturally and with ease. There is no waiting around during the day for rooms to be set up.

Each couple has a dedicated wedding coordinator throughout the planning process and a front of house on the day helping to run everything smoothly. We also have in-house caterers, and there’s an 8-spit rotisserie visible through a glass screen from the Dining Room, and large mobile BBQ which can be moved in and out of sight as appropriate.

We have stunning, landscaped gardens – ideal for the backdrop of those important wedding photos. There are views overlooking the gorgeous Northumberland countryside too!

Healey Barn (4)

What sort of numbers are we talking?

The Long Barn used for ceremonies has a licence for 140 people and the Dining Room has a capacity for 140 guests. Additional evening guests are more than welcome too, and the barn can accommodate up to 200 in total in the evening.

Brides Up North Dream Venue: Middleton Lodge

July 26th, 2013 | Julia Braime

.

Gary Walsh Photography

.

.

I’m nothing if not a diligent wedding blogger – and prefer to visit and scope out each and every one of my dream venue recommendations before suggesting them to my readers.  It makes sense and keeps my conscience clear (and my appetite for mini breaks well stated)!

.

I was lucky enough to be invited to stay over at the beautiful Middleton Lodge recently, partake in a special tour of the house and gardens and indulge in their fabulous Supper Club.  The result? I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.  If I were in the market for a simply stunning wedding venue, this place would be very, very near the top of my list.  See for yourselves.

.

Middleton Lodge is located in the heart of Yorkshire in the quaint village of Middleton Tyas and is the perfect private event location. With 17 bedrooms, 200 capacity marquee, cellar (home to the Cellar Door Supper Club), cinema, cellar bar, private dining room, tennis court, and plenty of land to accommodate clay pigeon shooting which is popular all year round. The venue also has an external helicopter landing field site for those wishing to arrive in style!

.

Unfortunately, I had to settle for arriving by clapped out VW Golf…

Tell Brides Up North about weddings at Middleton Lodge?

.

Middleton Lodge and its 250 acre Georgian estate offers the perfect setting for a traditional country wedding – with a slightly modern twist. We have our own wedding license, vast grounds, beautiful interiors, numerous reception rooms for eating and drinking, and 17 individually designed bedrooms.

.

Summer Weddings

.

From early spring onwards our grounds really come into their own. BBQ’s on the terrace on a Friday night, drinks receptions on the lawns and making the most of the outside space is a must. Our private parkland with striking vistas creates the perfect backdrop for photos, whilst your guests can enjoy the English countryside to its full. Smaller weddings can then take over the house and larger functions head to the marquee, which you can decorate however you would like.

.

Winter Weddings

.

With roaring fires in the house, Christmas decorations, mulled wine & Winter Pimms, the Lodge can be a truly magical place in the winter months. Our fully heated marquee creates a stunning venue for any Christmas wedding with its star cloth backdrop, candles and Christmas trees. We even have an awning connecting the marquee to the Drawing Room, so none of your guests have to venture outside.

.

.

Is Middleton Lodge licensed for civil ceremonies?

.

We hold civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests, using three different locations, including Yorkshire’s only licensed outdoor space. For more intimate receptions we use the house function rooms seating up to 45 dinner guests. For larger numbers between 65 and 180, we use our own permanent marquee set within the grounds. The marquee – which overlooks fabulous country views, can comfortably seat 200 and has also recently undergone a refurbishment.

.

We wish for all guests to make themselves at home and treat our home as their own, for the duration of their stay. We specialise in exclusive weekend and intimate mid-week weddings and our packages are designed to be a flexible guide rather than set in stone. We tailor most things to individual requirements and recommend that couples hire Middleton Lodge over 2 nights, that way they really do get to experience the Lodge at its best.

.

.

What makes Middleton Lodge a special wedding venue and sets you apart from others?

.

Middleton Lodge offers total exclusivity of the house and grounds for the duration of your stay, we also offer the Bride and Groom a totally bespoke service to suit their needs. We believe in total flexibility and adopt a professional yet personable approach. Here at the Lodge we also have our own wedding planner and coordinator included within all packages and are more than happy for all Bride & Groom’s to visit as many times as they wish in the run up to their big day. Our aim is to provide an unforgettable experience for those sharing their special day with us.

Any really memorable weddings at the venue?

.

Lizzie and Alex, a charming young couple decided to share their special day with Middleton Lodge on 7th – 9th June 2013. The couple, who had obviously worked hard to create the day of their dreams, were at the heart of a wonderful weekend which left guests and staff alike talking about the ‘Wedding of the Year’ for weeks to follow.

It was an absolutely idyllic wedding from start to finish, and a pleasure to be a part of.  From the glorious weather and gorgeous outdoor ceremony to Lizzie’s beautiful beige Valentino Shoes and dress to die for, the couple’s stay at the Lodge was faultless.  It was effortlessly elegant, a beautiful weekend. Lizzie and Alex created something so different, so pure. The atmosphere was unrivalled, everyone seemed so happy to have been a part of their celebrations.
