Etc Magazine is Showing Off!

Regular readers of the wedding blog will know that I support regional luxury lifestyle magazine etc with a monthly column keeping their North East readers on the pulse of all that’s happening in the bridal world. Click here to see the latest features.

Brides Up North in Etc Magazine

Meanwhile, Georga, my colleague and etc’s editor has been in touch to keep Brides Up North updated about their bridal events this Spring. The first will be held at the luxurious Linden Hall, in Northumberland, on Sunday March 3rd 203 and the other at Rockliffe Hall on March 24th 2013.

Georga says: We started the wedding events at Rockliffe Hall last year and they proved such a hit that we have now decided to extend into the Northumberland area. Linden Hall is a beautiful venue and we’re calling out to all brides and grooms-to-be to come along and join in the fun. There’ll be plenty to see and do and we have hand-picked the best exhibitors from across the region.

At both events, which will be held from noon to 4pm, there will be free fizz, catwalk shows and top-class wedding exhibitors. They will feature everything from bridal gowns to hats and groomswear. Some of the best wedding photographers in the industry will be there to showcase their talent and there will be a range of cars you can choose from to help you travel in style on your big day.

Georga adds: The wedding exhibitions are always a great day out for brides and grooms-to-be. The last one we held at Rockliffe Hall attracted more than 450 people and we’re hoping all our events this year will have a great turn out. We’ll be hosting catwalk shows at the events and they always go down well with the ladies. We have some stunning collections lined up for the models to strut their stuff in. We’ll also be featuring for the first time mother-of-the-bride outfits from Jules B.

Brides-to-be and their families can expect five-star treatment at the wedding shows. On arrival each bride will receive a goodie bag and glass of champagne, then have the opportunity to browse around the stalls.

The show also provides the ideal chance for guests to look around these two stunning venues and see how their big-day dreams could become a reality there.

We’ve done all the hard work by carefully selecting the very best exhibitors. Brides and grooms-to-be can come along knowing we are showcasing only the finest in the wedding industry. The events will be ones to remember.

Press Gang: Brides Up North in Etc Magazine

As well as curating and editing content for these swirly silver pages, I am also proud to contribute on a freelance basis to a raft of glossy magazines each month, both regional and National.

Crafting a magazine article is different to writing blog content – whilst I carefully research all my blog features, each print article needs to be planned in advance, structured for an audience that may be unfamiliar with my personal style of writing and it’s supporting images sourced, selected and credited.

Whilst writing the blog feels like a cosy chat with a friend (or tens of thousands of friends, hello you!), writing for print feels more formal. Whilst the process is more laborious, it’s also cathartic, and as long as they let me, I’ll be offering up my bridal based advice for your favourite bridal titles.

I’m currently a regular columnist for Wedding Magazine, Etc Magazine and LovedUp Magazine, and contribute regularly to Wedding Ideas Magazine and Mosaic Brides, as well as having features published in Bridal Buyer, Pure Weddings Magazine, Belle Bridal Magazine, Hitched Magazine, Fabulous Magazine, The Yorkshire Post, Harrogate Living, The Journal, The Daily Mirror, The Evening Chronicle, The Sunday Sun, The Times and Times Online. Phew.

So whilst blogs are most certainly where its at for up to the minute advice, 24 hour inspiration and can-read-at-work-ability (what, you too?), I still get a thrill from seeing my work in print. And call me old school, but I’m still not comfortable with reading my iPad in the bath…

Today I met with the fabulous team at popular regional title Etc Magazine, a title for whom I have been writing for the last quarter, to catch up and put the wheels in motion for continuing our great working relationship in 2013. Diary Date: The etc Magazine Wedding Show

So, it may be a wrap on this year’s Brides Up North Super Showcase Grand Wedding Exhibition (click here for details of our Wedding Exclusives in Yorkshire) but North East brides have still got lots of wedding inspiration right at their fingertips with a jam packed schedule of wedding fairs and events across the region this Autumn. I’ll be letting you know about the very best here on these pages.

Taking place on Sunday September 30th 2012, in the magnificent surroundings of the five-star Rockliffe Hall, just outside of Darlington, the etc Wedding Show will host 30 exhibitors representing the best of the region’s wedding industry.

etc publisher Linda Burnside says: Last year was our first ever wedding event and we really did pull out all the stops to make it a top-class day, but we’re hoping this year will be even bigger and better. The etc Wedding Show will take place from 12 to 4pm. Guests will be greeted with a goodie bag and a glass of champagne, after which they can see what’s on offer and talk to the exhibitors at their leisure. There will also be a glamorous bridal fashion show, with entertainment from wedding swing singer Anthony Stringer.

Wedding Fair Season Is Going Strong!

I’m down in the Smoke this weekend for a family trip to support my friend (and honorary little bro) Nick in the final of the Top Model UK competition. Nick is a recent Brides Up North model – see him in action here – and we have been massively rooting for him here at Brides Up North HQ. Come on Nick – bring it home!

Alongside some FROW action as we cheer Nick on along the catwalk, I’ll also be finding the time to explore the capital – some shopping, a theatre trip, a trip to the park and a Mother’s Day lunch en masse on Sunday. Sounds a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

Let’s all take a breather and spoil our mums this weekend eh ladies? It’s time to celebrate, snuggle up and regroup as take it from me, next weekend is such a busy one all over the North with some top quality wedding events for Brides to Be that you just do not want to miss.

Here are my three top picks:

There are three time slots for visits to allow you to browse at your leisure. You will then get to browse the 30+ stands, visualise your wedding ceremony taking place in the elegant Old Hall or glass-roofed Victorian Orangery – which will be set up as if to host a civil wedding – then sit back and relax while etc Magazine puts on a glittering catwalk show.
