La Vie En Lilac – A Styled Shoot In Yorkshire For Your Inner Princess

I’ve something a little different, and a lot pretty to share with you this afternoon, courtesy of the team behind My Heart Wanders – who I am thrilled to be collaborating with as their blogger in residence – Cat Hepple Photography, Leafy Couture and We Love This Limited

.

I’ve lost count of how many excited little flower girls I’ve met at our Brides Up North luxury wedding exhibitions, and how many tantrums I’ve seen when they’ve been asked to take off the tiara until the wedding day… so today’s post is for those little girls.

.

You are my favourites!

.

Let’s embrace our inner princesses, and remember what excitement really feels like, as we consider the perfect styling for the prettiest of children’s tables at your wedding.

Sarah of Leafy Couture says:  For this shoot we wanted to create a really girly delicate style, to feel like you were invited to the most exclusive little tea party.

The colours we chose were delicate, sweet tones of white, lilac and pinks. The flowers included huge urns of gypsophila: clouds of delicate flowers that are really popular for weddings this year.  We chose to keep the flowers on masse only using one type in each container to keep the look neat and elegant. We used silver julep cups and clear glass containers containing tulips, ranunculus and gypsophila. We mixed melamine plates in tones of pinks and blues. I adore using tones of colours rather than being too matchy and using one shade. Here it gives a youthful, clean feel with a hint of eclectic but still elegant.

.
Layers of textures were added with lace and ribbon on the tablecloth, tulle from the gorgeous tutu and sweets such as mini eggs, marshmallows and exquisite cupcakes.

We created two main scenes on the shoot the first being a mini tea party in delicate tones with beautiful details in the cakes. Pink milk in mini bottles are evocative of childhood, memories are so important when planning your wedding so little touches like this can be great.  The next look was a cake table where we introduced a stunning cake, you could do a mini version of your wedding cake for the little ones or for a birthday party for a very special little lady. We added meringues to add to the light, fluffy feel.

The look would work for a children’s table at a wedding, to make them feel as special as the adults. It would be a perfect little set up for a little girl’s birthday too. We used special printed bunting, ribbon bows on the chairs and fabric initials to dress the chairs and tables. The chairs each had the name tags on them, I love the idea of adding them to the back of your chairs: your special place to sit.

.
The colours we chose were sweet and would translate work for a very grown up elegant affair too, subtle and delicate, evocative and dreamy.

Focus on Flower Girls: Monsoon

February 5th, 2011 | Brides Up North: UK Wedding Blog

Choosing the dresses for your tiny attendants can often be the most fun.  They want something huge, OTT, and aren’t bothered about whether their bum might look big.  The more sequins, the better.

No tossing these beauties!  You would take someone’s eye out for a start!  Totally gorgeous.

.

.

Natalie from Love Bouquets tells Brides Up North more…

.

.

What sort of bride do you design for?

.

We have found that no bride is the same. We make these bouquets for all budgets and styles and love it when a bride designs their own bouquet to suit their personality!

.

.
What is your most popular design and why?

.
Our most popular design is our ‘Graceful’ bouquet which is a large cream rose bouquet with lots of crystal and pearls, its popular as its very well priced for its size and colours of the roses and crystals can be changed to suit many themes. This bouquet also has the vintage touch with brooches scattered throughout.

.

.

Which is your favourite design and why?

.

My favourite design is our ‘Elegance’ bouquet it was first designed for my own wedding back in 2009 and is what inspired us to start our own business.

What what would your dream wedding day be like – and what sort of gown would you choose?  Would you carry a Love Bouquets bouquet?

.
My wedding blessing is June this year and for that I am designing and making my own bespoke bouquet, made completely out of Bethlehem mother of pearl brooches. It will be a one off design but will be amazing I can assure you! My dress is a midnight blue Eternity dress so its different to your normal creams and ivories, but then so are our bouquets.  As for the Royal Wedding this year,  I would have loved to design a bouquet that reflects the engagement ring using some Art Deco sapphire brooches that I have with cala lillies and roses.

.
How did Love Bouquets begin?

.
We started doing what we do back in 2009 when I saw a bouquet in a wedding magazine.  It was all about the DIY wedding for me back then so me and my mother in law set about finding things to make my own crystal bouquet. Once it was made i posted pictures on a wedding forum and it got a lot of attention.  It wasn’t long before we were asked to make another one and eventually we had to set up a website for the growing demand.

.
Is this your dream job?

.
Sheila (my mother in law) and I love what we do, we spend most of our evenings wiring crystals and fresh water pearls whilst watching the soaps! Its a passion so its easy to do, we like to keep everything pre wired to allow for last minute orders but it also means we only have to charge for putting a bouquet together rather than the hours spent wiring. A typical working day for us would start with a trawl through some local antique shops (even when on holiday we cant help but have a nosey) then we spend the rest of the day putting our next order together. At the moment i am spending my evenings putting my own bouquet together which is a real labour of love.

.

.

How long does a bouquet take to make from design to finished article?

.
We can make most of our bouquets that are featured on the website within a week but at the moment we can only take orders from July onwards. Bespoke orders depend on what the design is but I would say 4-6 weeks.

.

.

Love Bouquets

.

.
Why should a bride choose a Love Bouquets bouquet over real flowers?

.
Brides love the idea of being able to keep their bouquets.  I intend to pass my own on to my little girl as it
contains bits of jewellery from her great grandma and has memories which can be her something old. We do also make crystal sprigs containing vintage pieces for brides who are still having fresh flowers. Our bouquets are all inspired by our brides they get full control over their product and we just make it happen!

.

.
Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price?

.
We aim to work to all budgets and because we hand wire things whilst watching the TV (!)  it means we don’t pass those charges onto our customers. Our cheapest bouquet is £80 and our most expensive at the moment is the large crystal cascade which starts at £250. We also offer a custom design for brides wishing to make something completely new. We can do smaller matching crystal wands for flower girls and these are only £25 and come in so many colours.
