Makin’ Rainbows. A Cute & Colourful Styled Wedding Shoot In Northumberland

February 28th, 2014 | Julia Braime

Adamskii Photography for Emma Bunting at Alnwick Garden

On Monday I featured an ethereal and romantic styled shoot showing off the gorgeous designs of Claire Pettibone at The Alnwick Garden (want to see? Click here to catch up).  Now it seems that the team involved are so skilled that they had time to turn the day on it’s head and produce a second shoot – something completely different – to show off Brides Up North Featured Supplier Emma Bunting’s skills (she makes beautiful bunting, like her name suggests)!

Bright, bold, a little whimsical and a lot of colourful.  I talk about talent all the time here at Brides Up North, but it just goes to show that whatever your style, these wedding professionals have it covered.

Let’s infuse this Friday morning with rainbows!

Emma says:  I was given permission to use The Alnwick Garden whilst it was closed to the public to shoot Emma Bunting’s new Rainbow range. I wanted a fun and slightly offbeat look for a relaxed bride and groom – I think we achieved that with the look of our models and the quirky style.

I hope you like our colourful creations and pick up some bright and beautiful ideas for your own big day.

Emma Bunting and her team will be exhibiting at The Brides Up North Luxury & Vintage Wedding Exhibition at The Alnwick Garden on Sunday 18th May 2014. A beautiful, excusive event in an extraordinary setting.  Closing our spring season for 2014, it’s set to be a magical day.  Be inspired! Back To Nature. Claire Pettibone For A Styled Bridal Shoot At The Alnwick Garden, Northumberland

February 24th, 2014 | Julia Braime

Adamskii Photography for Kathryn S Trueman at The Alnwick Garden

This season, I am told by those who really know, it’s all about “the back”.

One someone who certainly knows these things is Kathryn at Kathryn S Trueman Bridal & Occasions in Morpeth, Northumberland, and today she’s here on the wedding blog to show off the latest collection from the newest designer to be stocked in her lovely boutique (and one of my personal favourites!) Claire Pettibone.

With ethereal imagery by the fabulous Adamskii Photography, and shot on location at Brides Up North Luxury Wedding Exhibition venue, The Alnwick Garden, this is one beautiful way to start the week.

Kathryn says:  Claire Pettibone are an L.A. based design house best known for their intimate, feminine and couture styling. Claire describes herself as a ‘true romantic’ and her vintage, yet modern dresses certainly have that “je ne sais quoi”!  .

Adamskii Photography for Kathryn S Trueman at The Alnwick Garden

"When I design a collection I strive to make a woman feel as special as the delicate creation she is wearing; take her to an enchanted time and place where women are princesses and magnificent goddesses. In today’s modern world we need to pause and indulge in beauty." Claire Pettibone

My team at Kathryn S Trueman Bridal decided to celebrate becoming the only stockist of Claire Pettibone in the North East of England by having an exclusive photo shoot of the dresses at the exquisite Alnwick Garden in January this year.

We wanted to find a setting that mirrored the Claire Pettibone styling, and where better than on our own doorstep, at the Alnwick Garden and it’s magnificent Treehouse Restaurant?

The photographs were taken by Adamskii Photography, who share the building with our boutique, at 42 Bridge Street Weddings – the recently launched ‘Wedding Department Store’ in Morpeth.  42 Bridge Street Weddings also houses Demoiselle Lingerie, K Beautique Makeup, Wiggle & Gilbert Menswear, Black Stripe Events, Hummingbird Jones Wedding Stationers and the Adamskii Photobooth!  With 42 Bridge Street Weddings we have created the ‘Harvey Nicks’ of the Wedding Industry, offering eight top quality wedding services under one roof.

Back in January, Alnwick Garden was closed to the public, yet we were granted access for this shoot. We started off around the magnificent Fountains and the Poison Garden, before moving over to the Treehouse – somewhere that Adam has wanted to use for a fashion shoot for years – and finally ending up in the Walled Gardens. The dresses made the shoot, and the models were fantastic – we wanted a certain ethereal innocence to shine through; ‘Alice In Wonderland meets Narnia’!

Here Come The Girls! Princess Frocks & Westwood Heels For A Bridesmaids’ Shoot In The North West

September 17th, 2013 | Julia Braime

Jules Fortune Photography

I just love it when when of my real brides stays in touch, even after the big day.  We first met Kirsty on the wedding blog last winter, when I featured her gorgeous Christmassy real wedding (images that time by Jonny Draper Photography) and now she’s back – and she’s bringing her best girls with her – for a bridal shoot with a difference.  Brides Up North, here come the girls…

With images by Jules Fortune Photography.

Jules Fortune Photography

Kirsty says:  The inspiration for the shoot came from the lovely ladies at the boutique I purchased the Bridesmaids dresses from – Judith and Emily at Just Gorgeous.  On one of the many visits to the boutique during the wedding planning we talked about doing something fun after the ‘Big Day’ – a funky shoot with picnics and fizz. A friend of Emily’s has a VW camper van in the same vibrant red as the girls dresses – We jumped at the opportunity.

The bridesmaids were all so in love with the fabulous 50′s style dresses that they couldn’t wait to dust them off and hit the lens one more time! and I of course had to join them.  We’d set the date – borrowed picnic hampers, blankets and the camper van… it was full steam ahead!

Jules Fortune Photography

I of course wore my amazing wedding dress! My dress was by White Rose. On the big day I teamed the dress with sparkly Jimmy Choo’s but opted for boots (hidden under the dress!) for the shoot.  I wasn’t risking sinking my heels into sodden grass…

The Bridesmaids wore 50′s style Lou Lou dresses with gorgeous Vivienne Westwood heels.

We decided to use Whitaker Park, Rossendale as it’s lovely quiet parkland would be perfect for the ‘look’. Rossendale Museum & Art Gallery is also situated on the park and we were kindly invited in to continue the shoot when the heavens opened! The park is also close to Jules’ fabulous studio so it was only a short drive – needless to say the windscreen was almost covered with my frock and we did get some funny looks!

Jules Fortune Photography

The day was such good fun! A great girlie day and a must do for those Brides that get the chance. We had such a giggle, I remember having to reposition the cakes on the cake stand because one of the bridesmaids had taken a chunk out of one proclaiming she was starving!  It’s nice to dig out your dress once again and the photographs are great.

When I get round to it I’m going to frame the photographs. The shots are fantastic, Jules really captured us having fun and the images don’t look staged at all. We didn’t realise Jules was there at times!

Drink Tea & Eat Cake! A Styled Bridal Shoot In The North West

December 2nd, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

Jules Fortune Photography for Isla Jean Bridal

.

.

Drink tea, eat cake.  Not the worst advice I’ve ever heard for a lazy Sunday.

.

Ahead of an action packed festive season full of meetings, catch ups, venue visits, gatherings with family and friends and one very special Brides Up North Christmas Party, I’m taking a day today to recharge and reorganise before the mayhem ensues.  The season is all about spending time celebrating with loved ones, and after being a guest at a fabulously festive wedding celebration yesterday (Congratulations Tom & Emma!) another day with my nearest and dearest is just what’s needed.

.

I’ve some super lovely wedding inspiration in my inbox that I can’t wait to share with you in the coming weeks.  The countdown to Christmas sure is going to be pretty!  To get things started, I will leave you with this fabulous little styled shoot from a collective of North West suppliers, sent to me by Jules Fortune Photography.  Tea & Cake (and gown gazing!) for everyone!

.

.

.

.

.

Jules says: The shoot came about when Isla Jean Bridal approached me to photograph their new Halo collection.  The line has a very vintage feel and both myself and Vicky of Isla Jean love the styling.  I knew it would be great to get lots of local talent involved and the tearooms in my home town of Rawtenstall in Lancashire seemed the perfect place to start.

The Right Royal Tea Party Tearooms is owned and run by Melinda and I have always said that if the right shoot comes up I would love to shoot in her shop… and this seemed perfect. I suggested the tearooms to Vicky as i thought it would be an original, quirky location with some beautiful backdrops.

I contacted Natalie from Love Bouquets a local company based in Bury who are winning lots of National Awards at the moment for their unique vintage crystal bouquets. We knew the look needed great 50′s styling, so Jenny Gooding Make Up Artist joined the the team and she was excellent.

.

For me it was a great opportunity to work with four great local suppliers, photograph a great shoot, show off what we can do… and have some fun too!

British Babes In The Wood! A Jubliee Styled Bridal Shoot In The North West

June 2nd, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

A Jubilee Bridal Shoot in Bury by N Cadman

.

.

I’m feeling proud to be a this weekend! Well and truly flying the flag for the long weekend today, we have a very British styled shoot from Bury, sent to me by Natalie of L.O.V.E. Bouquets.  Some of my favourite North West suppliers worked together on this fun and colourful celebration shoot.  If your spirits aren’t lifted by the thought of two extra lie ins, this should do the trick…

Natalie says: As 2012 is the year of the Olympics in the UK and of course the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we decided to theme our shoot around everything British and fabulous and of course the colours red, white and blue.

.
Living within the Summerseat area of Bury, I am literally on the doorstep of some beautiful British scenery and so we didn’t have to go far to create some amazing backdrops.

Our shoot would not have been possible without the gorgeous models on the day. Gwen and Michelle, who regularly work with Debbie at Glamour Bridal & Prom as part of her catwalk shows, and the lovely Charlene from Love Gets Sweeter Wedding Films also managed to re-arrange her busy schedule to come and join in the fun. So, we set to work early one bright and beautiful Wednesday morning in the midst of the mid-May heat wave.

Joanne of One Beautiful Day Make-up worked hard to create the ideas I had in my head and Zoe created dramatic ‘Rule Britania’ hair and then subtle bridal hair for the other models.

.

Our first port of call was a tea party on an expanse of grass with a huge union jack picnic blanket!  We sampled some cupcake delights from the ever talented Helen of Cats Whiskers Cakes – a cake maker I have had the pleasure of working with on a number of occasions now. Helen used her latest gadget which allows her to print onto icing and the spectacular three tiered wedding cake featuring guardsmen and Big Ben was so in keeping with our theme.

.

Cooling the models in the mid-day heat was a task in itself, but the beautiful heart shaped, union jack inspired umbrella from LOVE Umbrellas did the trick – a welcome addition to any bridal party, come rain or shine!

As it was a thoroughly British shoot, Debbie opted to use two of her British designers, Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier.  Amanda Wyatt was kind enough to lend us three of her brand new 2013 capsule collection designs, which have been previously unseen by the public before the shoot. ‘Heavenly’, ‘Codie’ and ‘Mia Rose’ looked positively stunning!

All Wrapped Up Events created the back drop for the images with red carpet and lots of hand made pom poms which added to the look of the shoot, we wanted Union Jacks everywhere and we didn’t hold back including the super large bouquet created by LO.V.E. Bouquets – a flag shaped bouquet using silk flowers and crystal and a smaller crystal bouquet featuring crowns and flags.

And we cant forget to mention Kay from Wrapor who made the most amazing Union Jack Wrap ever! I gave her the theme and she made a wrap that not only fitted in really well but made the shoot extra special and turned heads in the street.

We all worked together so well on the day.  Our inspiration was the 1940′s and our vision was a classy red carpet bride waiting at the station for her husband.  We wanted the images to ooze glamour and Debbie’s dresses certainly wowed.

Lastly a big thank you to Stephen Redfern Photography  for coming along and taking these truly amazing images.  He was seriously outnumbered by all of us ladies but managed to hold his own!

Fairy Wings and Pretty Things – A Styled Shoot

October 27th, 2011 | Julia Braime

.

Brides Up North Wedding Blog: Joanne Spencer Photography.

.

As a child, I was obsessed by the tale of The Cottingley Fairies.  Do you know it?  In brief, back in the early twentieth century two young cousins, Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, photographed the “fairies” living at the bottom of their garden and caused a huge media storm.

.

.Brides Up North Wedding Blog: The Cottingley Fairies via Wikipedia Brides Up North Wedding Blog: The Cottingley Fairies via Wikipedia Brides Up North Wedding Blog: The Cottingley Fairies via Wikipedia

.

Turns out it was all a hoax.  There is no such thing as fairies.  Or is there…?

.

Today on the wedding blog, a very ethereal styled bridal shoot, drawing inspiration from the little people.  With not a fancy dress prop in sight, the team, lead by Laura of Perfect Choice Planning create a very magical mood.  Be inspired!

..

.

Brides Up North Wedding Blog: Emma B Photography.

.Brides Up North Wedding Blog: Emma B Photography

.

.

Laura takes us behind the scenes: Our fairy inspired bridal inspiration shoot was the initial idea of our two wonderful photographers, Emma from Emma B Photography and Jo from Joanne Spencer Photography, who wanted the opportunity to create a styled shoot to show off their talents and, most of all, just have fun.

.

.

Brides Up North Wedding Blog: Joanne Spencer Photography

.

.

Their vision was to bring like-minded North West Suppliers together for a bridal inspiration shoot, the only problem being that it was the middle of the wedding season and these two talented photographers were in demand. This left no time to organise the shoot, so they asked Perfect Choice Planning to take over the organisation.

.

.

Brides Up North Wedding Blog: Joanne Spencer Photography

.

.

Emma and Jo had made some initial enquiries but we still needed several suppliers, not to mention models, on board to create the overall effect. Within a month, I had brought together a number of credible, enthusiastic suppliers, with the help of the North-West Brides Up North Tweet Up, where I had found the majority of the suppliers.

.

We had beautiful dresses and hair accessories supplied by Glamour Bridal & Prom, handmade shrugs from Wrapor, attention-grabbing bouquets by Love Bouquets, perfect hair & make-up by Rachael McNeela, and of course stunning photography from Joanne Spencer Photography and Emma B Photography.

Scheduled for 4th September 2011, it was decided that it would be lovely to do an afternoon to twilight shoot so we could use the magic of twilight to enhance our fairy theme. To create this theme, we used fairy lights on trees, soft make-up with natural hair styling and unusual and fairy-like (as opposed to princess) dresses, choosing accessories and bouquets to match the ethereal style of the shoot.

Something Blue: A Real Wedding – Natalie & Thomas

August 24th, 2011 | Julia Braime

.

Brides Up North Featured Supplier Natalie from Love Bouquets – creator of absolutely fabulous crystal wedding bouquets – has sent me her own beautiful Real Wedding to feature on the wedding blog today.  Doesn’t this cool chick look stunning in her unconventional midnight blue gown?  The colour choices make for a set of amazing images from Northern lass down South, Louise Sumner Photography

Natalie and Thomas got engaged on 25th December 2006 on the top of a mountain in Scotland, and married on 1st June 2011 on St.Tallanus Church, Talland Bay, Cornwall.

Natalie says: The church is set on a cliff top overlooking a clear water bay in a small village, we fell in love instantly, the hotel is also set in the same village overlooking the ocean and seemed perfect for our small intimate party.

We had a very natural and nautical theme  with hessian throws on the table and shells and candles lit throughout the hotel. The cake was pure Cornish cheeses from The Cheese Shed with un-iced fruit cake for a really rustic look.

We never really set out with a colour theme, I wore a midnight blue wedding dress and my husband wore a fitted suit in a bronze tone with a tweed waistcoat and tie.  The bridesmaids also wore shades of blue in their maxi dresses from Arrogant Cat.
