“My ethos is to provide good value, choice, high-quality and affordable products in beautiful packaging. I handpick and hand make the items I sell and you can be assured of a personal and flexible service.”

.

.

Why did you decide to launch Sweetheart Vintage and what is your background?

.

Before I launched Sweetheart Vintage I was a make-up artist, mainly focussing on weddings. I really enjoyed the build-up and excitement of each wedding day and being involved with the bride’s appearance, which for many brides is a key aspect of the day. After starting a family, the working hours became more difficult as it was heavily based around evenings and weekends so I decided to launch my business in bridal hair accessories and jewellery. I have always had a love of vintage jewellery and this allows me to stay in the industry I love, use my creativity and be still involved with each bride’s look whilst having more flexible working hours. I also have a strong commercial background as I have worked in marketing and business for the past 12 years for a global organisation which is really useful experience in the everyday running of my business.

.

Are all your products designed and handmade by you?

.

Many of my items are handmade but I try to retain a mixture of products so that there is a range of price points for customers – for example my  Treasured hair comb is £22. I am very particular about the quality of products I stock. For all my handmade items, I spend a lot of time researching components for designs and putting new designs together before I launch them. My items are a mixture of original vintage and vintage-inspired, again to give brides choice and to fit a range of budgets, and tastes.

.

.

Can you do bespoke or special designs for individual brides?

.

Yes, my customisation service is extremely popular with brides. It allows customers to adapt products that they see on my website or create something completely new. My customisation service is low-cost and I still allows brides to return custom products as I feel it is only fair to allow return of products that have not been seen or tried on in person. I do charge a small cancellation fee for return of some custom products that are very time consuming to make but for most items there isn’t any charge.

.

“I just wanted to say thank you for all your help with the bracelet, and also how absolutely lovely the products are that I ordered. The simple pearl necklace will look lovely with my vintage lace wedding dress, and the bracelet will complement it perfectly. I’m amazed at the workmanship that has gone into the hair comb and can’t wait to wear it as an alternative to the usual tiara on my wedding day. “

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price?

.

I aim to keep my prices as competitive as possible. My combs start from £22 and my headbands start from £55. My customisation service is very competitive and I have customised my products from as little as £5. Depending on the type of customisation, sometimes there is no charge.

Can you do a discount for Brides Up North readers?

.

The 10% discount code for Brides Up North readers is BUN12 and is valid until 31st December 2012. There is no minimum order and the code can only be used in our online store.

.

.

What can Brides Up North expect when they use your service?

.

Brides can expect a personal, friendly and flexible service. I pride myself of providing high-quality products at affordable prices with plenty of choice. Wherever possible I try my best to meet any tight timescales.

.

.

What is your current favourite piece that you have designed and why?

.

My Vintage Glamour Headband is one of my favourite pieces. It is popular with brides and recently I customised this one for a bride by dotting it with Swarovski pearls at no extra charge. Many brides are put off purchasing headbands after trying on uncomfortable ones but I am always reassuring brides that all my headbands are really comfortable and do not pinch at all.

.

Is there a particular style of jewellery or bridal accessory that has been immediately popular with your bridal customers?

.

My combs are always very popular and the Enchanted Comb has proven to be a hit. At the price of £40 its very reasonable for a handmade comb. It is very simple yet elegant with a vintage feel.

Do you design and stock pieces that would be appropriate for Bridesmaids?

.

Many of my customers purchase combs as gifts for their bridesmaids and all my items come gift boxed. I also provide free gift notes at the customer’s request. Many brides purchase different styles of combs for each bridesmaid and I really love the fact that people don’t feel restricted to make all their bridesmaids look the same. Giving each bridesmaid a different piece allows you to give them something personal to them and also to suit their hair type and style.

What about the Mother of The Bride?

.

My handmade bracelets and earrings have been very popular for the Mother of the Bride as well as bridesmaids. Original vintage bracelets and earrings have also been popular for Mother of the Bride gifts.

.

How are your products packaged?  Do they make good gifts?

.

My products make perfect gifts as they all come individually boxed and free gift notes can be requested. Recently I have sold a bracelet that was used as part of a proposal, Valentine’s gifts and gifts for Mother’s Day. I provide luxury gift wrap at £3.00 per item and recently received this feedback from a happy bride

.

Just a wee note to express my sincere thank you for the beautiful package I received. First of all the pins are stunning, so elegant and superb quality, but second of all, I am absolutely stunned at how beautifully the two gift wrapped ones came. They are amazing and will be so special to give to the girls on the morning of the wedding! I will be recommending you to everyone I know from now on!

Treasure Trove! Supplier Showcase: The Berry Boutique

May 14th, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

This afternoon on the wedding blog it’s all about making a statement, as we chat to Brides Up North Featured Supplier Judith of The Berry Boutique about her fabulous range of costume and semi precious jewellery.  Whether you want to raise the fashion stakes on your big day, look hot on honeymoon or point your mum in the right direction for her Mother Of The Bride accessories, a visit to The Berry Boutique is in order.

.

.

.

.

When did The Berry Boutique open and what is your background?

.

The Berry Boutique officially opened 10th January 2012. That was the date my website was completed.

I started with the Berry Boutique as quite a number of years ago I had a ladies fashion shop in Darlington, called Frenchies.  My then husband (who is French) and I would visit the jewellery and fashion wholesale areas of Paris, choose the items we thought were the most unusual and have them sent across to the UK. It was really exciting and I still have a couple of items that are still commented on when I wear them. I loved the regular clients calling into the shop and the buzz of knowing the stock was so different.

.

What lines of jewellery do you stock?

.

I have five suppliers at the moment. About 80% of my pieces are hand made. They range from £30 to £180 and my customers can be from young ladies going to proms or sophisticated ladies who want something very different, yet not too expensive. Some of my pieces are semi-precious stones in beautiful colours.

.

There are some pieces I feel do not show well on photos but that sell out at wedding fairs and other venues, where they can be touched and their unusual colours and weight becomes apparent.

.

My newest stock has a great deal of aquamarine and coral stones with matching earrings, lovely for a Caribbean wedding or holiday.

.

I like to think that my jewellery is a little different, I have a few pieces of jewellery with fur and leather on the cuffs and fur on part of the necklace itself. All my earrings are for pierced ears, but I have a selection of new earrings, shortly to be delivered, with clips.

.

.

What pieces do you think would work particularly well for brides?

.

I have a good selection of diamante necklaces, with taupe coloured stones as well as light stones. These are worn near to the neck and are very effective. I believe that most of my jewellery would be absolutely ideal for a honeymoon in warmer climates, where brightly coloured jewellery looks so dramatic.

.

Do you have a shop or are you purely online?

.

Whilst I am on-line with most of my jewellery I do many venues and fairs.  I also cater for ladies who have coffee mornings or charity functions. I am totally equipped with jewellery displays and tables and I am more than happy to donate 15% of that day’s takings, to the hostess’ choice of charity.

.

What is your current favourite piece that you stock and why?

.

Choosing my personal favourite piece is rather difficult. I have recently had some beautiful silver heart lockets with matching silver heart locket bracelets delivered. They are on either black, beige, brown or red leather with silver ring clasps. They have been extremely popular. I am waiting for another delivery within the next few days. Whenever I wear my jewellery people ask where I found it. These pieces are not yet on my website and I have already had to reorder… so watch out for new arrivals soon!

Is there a particular style of jewellery that is popular with your customers at the moment?

.

The most popular jewellery at the moment would have to be the brightly coloured pieces for holidays and honeymoons.

.

.

What can Brides Up North expect when they use your online service?

.

Brides Up North can expect a very quick response when they use my online service. I had a young lady living in Central London who ordered a necklace last week. She was astounded that she was able to take delivery of the jewellery the very next day. A signature was required on delivery and she was only able to be at home that day. One very happy customer!

.

How does The Berry Boutique provide a superior experience to other online jewellery retailers?

.

Our vast range of jewellery covers every possible situation from Mother of the Bride to honeymoon to more casual situations. Everything for the lady who knows what she likes and looks special in and who needs the piece of jewellery as quickly as possible.

.

.

Can you give Brides Up North an idea on price?

.

I try to keep my prices as reasonable as I am able to. Well made fashion jewellery can be so effective and I feel that whilst most ladies have ‘the little black dress’ they love, it is important to totally change the look for different occasions. With reasonable priced pieces you can make very different statements and looks without spending a fortune. My prices for a necklace range from £30 to £180 and earrings from £15 to £20.

I would be more than happy to give a discount to Brides Up North readers. Just ask!

.

.

The Berry Boutique   The Berry Boutique

.

.

How are your products packaged?

.

My pieces are posted in a black 7” x9” jewellery box with a black velvet inlay. The box is then put into a bubble lined envelope, to make absolutely sure that they are received in the same perfect condition as they left me. They are then posted first class Royal Mail. A signature is required before delivery. Should they be purchased as a gift the box would be appropriately wrapped prior being put into the bubble envelope.
