We love local, and we love stylish weddings – so as well as promoting our own luxury bridal events via these pretty pages we also like to tell our readers about certain selected special events – like the massive North West Wedding Fair this weekend – or this rather lovely little event, The Exquisite Secret Vintage Wedding Fair, hosted by our friend and Brides Up North Exhibitor, Rebecca Jenkinson of Pretty Little Trio Vintage (Rebecca will be showing you what she can do at our Brides Up North Luxury & Vintage Wedding Exhibition at The Bowdon Rooms, later this month).
To celebrate the announcement of the secret location of the show, released later today, these beautiful images were curated by Rebecca and were captured by exhibitor Lucy Greenhill Photography with Emma Hillier Photography. We’re thrilled that they chose Brides Up North to show them off.
rebecca says: The inspiration for our shoot was a modern interpretation of one of my favourite vintage styles, Art Nouveau, with a hint of the twenties too. I wanted to showcase our beautiful secret venue and took inspiration from the surroundings and weaved in pretty spring oranges, a hint of teal blue, deep greens and of course a beautiful dash of gold sequins and vintage elements.
For the shoot we wanted to produce images that could be easily interpreted as inspiration for real wedding days rather than anything too aspirational so the general brief we took was everything was to be beautiful but achievable.
When planning the shoot, in the same way as many brides planning their wedding ideas, I found Pinterest a huge help in pulling thoughts together. I selected ideas for colours, dresses, hairstyles, makeup, props, stationery, cakes and lots of other details and then shared the board with the team ahead of the day so we could all add our skills to bringing the vision together.
Our bride Charlotte was dressed by Fiona of The Wedding Boutique Cheshire, all the stunning designs are from the Felicity Cooper Collection and are exclusively designed and crafted by Fiona in her boutique where she takes inspiration from vintage styles and materials. She is going to be debuting her latest collection at London Bridal Fashion Week in May, I’m so excited for her.
Charlotte’s pretty hair and make up are by the amazingly skilled Sophie, part of the fabulous Manchester based Bethany Jane Davies - Vintage Beauty Parlour.
The stunning flowers are by the super talented Heather at Living Colour Floral Design, there is literally no vintage style this girl can’t master for you whilst giving it a contemporary feel too.
All the beautiful stationery, so perfectly vintage, is created by Emma at Hattie Boo Designs. It has a real vintage heritage being based on wedding stationery found in an old wooden box from the wedding of Emma’s Nanna’s Husband’s first marriage in the 1920’s!
The beautiful swirly icing art nouveau inspired white and gold tiered cake was created by Manchester based Beth at Cakes by Beth. She is a total genius and can turn her hand to any idea you might have and they taste phenomenal too!
I supplied all the vintage china, suitcases, books and other props through my vintage hire company with the look completed with dazzling table cloths from lovely Helen at Pudding Bridge, who hires nationwide.
The team involved in the shoot are just some of our wonderful exhibitors, I’d definitely recommend any one planning their day with a vintage flavour to come along on the 8th March to enjoy the event and meet our lovely exhibitors.
The Exquisite Secret Vintage Wedding Fair returns to Manchester city centre for its second year this Sunday the 8th March 2015. It is a vintage wedding fair with a bit of a difference, as the exact location is a total secret until just days 5 before when the secret venue is unveiled. (That’s today!)
Tickets are £2.50 in advance (£5.00 on the door) and £10.00 for group tickets.

I’m really excited to be reprising my role as “Official Blogger” for The North West Wedding Fair this spring.
This isn’t just a sponsored “I’m really excited” either, I genuinely love this gig. Whilst our own events are bespoke, exclusive (and perfectly formed… are they in your diaries yet !?), The North West Wedding Fair is the largest premium show for brides from the North West and I love that every one of their Exhibitors and Partners are dedicated to serving the North West region. Made you look? Don’t worry, Brides Up North isn’t going anywhere!
If you’re a regular reader of the wedding blog, you’ll know that I recently took on a special assignment as Official Blogger to the North West Wedding Fair.
We run our own beautifully crafted Brides Up North Luxury Wedding Exhibitions in the Cheshire area – yes, these ones… do you have them in your diaries yet (you can pre-register for your VIP goody bag here)?
But when Mercury Events invited me along to their huge event at the start of March, I wasn’t going to turn down an opportunity to meet so many lovely North West readers and wedding industry suppliers, or get my brand in front of so many new brides to be either (crafty eh?). If – as a consequence – you are one of my brand new readers, HELLO you!
In the run up to the show I guest blogged over at their website once a week (catch up on what I was talking about here), and shouted about the upcoming event on the Brides Up North Facebook and Twitter pages. I also hosted a very special Pinterest competition in conjunction with the North West Wedding Fair, which will see me lend my industry knowledge and sympathetic wedding planning ear to our lucky winner, Steph, who I was thrilled to meet for an initial chat at the event itself.
So, talking of the event, how was it? Were you a visiting bride to be or an exhibitor? What did you think?
Me? I loved every minute: hosting the show’s visitor video (scrambling up onto the raised catwalk in my 4 inch heels and pink mini dress to film a segment must have been a sight to see!); catching up with my industry friends; sitting FROW at the beautiful bridal catwalks; tasting cake; trying on tiaras;getting excited over glittery things; trying a spot of crafting, and meeting so many lovely, lovely brides to be and their future husbands, friends and families.
The highlight for me? Meeting my Pinterest competition winner Steph and her lovely Mum, and hearing all about her nautical themed wedding plans. Steph’s winning entry stood out for it’s originality, but also because despite being heavily themed, it was also very beautiful. I’m looking forward to helping Steph out on her journey to “I do!”.
Official feedback from the Mercury Events office looked good too, with over 2,000 brides and 6,000 visitors through the doors and 122 exhibitors already rebooking for next season.
Mercury Events continue to invest heavily in establishing this show as a true ‘destination’ event for the whole wedding market across Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire. This season they added the Garden Restaurant, the Vintage Crafts feature, Inspired Bakes: A Wedding Cake Showcase, an improved Catwalk build and show and a more fabulous VIP ticket package than ever before. I can’t wait to work with the team again going forwards. Just watch this space for more details soon…

If you’re a regular reader of the wedding blog, or follow Brides Up North on Twitter or Facebook, you’ll have shared my exciting news that I have been invited to act as the Official Blogger for the huge event that is The North West Wedding Fair in a few weeks’ time.
I’ve already been contributing over on their blog – click here to read my thoughts on this season’s bridal fashions and why you really should hire a professional wedding photographer (I don’t care if your mate will do it for free!) – and will be blogging for the team up till the weekend itself, when I’ll be live from the first night of the event on Friday 7th March, giving you a preview of all that lies in store for you lucky visitors (and hosting the official show video – eep!).
When I announced my involvement with the team at The North West Wedding Fair and Mercury Events, I was quite candid in that initially I wasn’t sure if teaming up with (essentially) a competitor was a good idea, but I liked the company’s ethos and attitude – basically, they want to bring you North West brides one hell of a good show and look after their exhibitors whilst doing it – and I also saw the opportunity to further the Northern Revolution that we have going on on these pretty pages and get Brides Up North in front of a lot of new readers. If you are one of them, hello and welcome. I hope you’ll stay awhile!
However, right from the word go what (hands up) started out as a bit of a marketing exercise was suddenly an event in my diary that I am very much looking forward to. I’m swept up in the excitement and super, duper thrilled to be able to write this post today.
