A usual Monday night in my household might be spent cooking, catching up on some weekend telly, preparing for meetings and blog scheduling for the week ahead as well as catching up on some business admin that has run on from Monday afternoon. Dullsville.

Well, this week I just couldn’t face one more email and forced the husband into the car and off to the multiplex for the Monday night showing of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2. #Team Jacob, obvs.

Abs, teen romance and a whole load of special effects aside, what I love most about these films is the moody setting and stark, romantic colour palette. Angst-y, yes, but super beautiful. If you haven’t seen the film yet watch out for the opening credits: for me the most stunning part of the film, and not a hot vampire or sexy werewolf in sight. Go see.

Today’s wedding inspiration board from regular guest blogger Katy of What Katy Did Next uses those same tones to create a stunning wedding celebration. I’m in deep with this one: love at first bite sight.

Katy says: As a self confessed lover of pale and pastel colours when it comes to Weddings, I thought this week I would come over to the dark side for my wedding inspiration board. Ox blood red is huge in this Winter’s fashion trends so I thought I would use the romantic berry shade with a touch of champagne and glitz.

The very glamorous Ersa Atelier gown took my breath away when I saw it, the layer of opaque champagne fabric over the sequins creates a delicate sparkle rather than full on shine. Make a statement and team this with scarlet lips and spidery lashes for an amazing vintage look! I would love to style the dress with some claret velvet heels but if coloured heels on your wedding day aren’t your thing, you could always splash the cash and carry the red shade on the sole of your Louboutins!

I’ve gone heavy with florals for the decor on this board – how beautiful is the beautiful ombre centrepiece idea!? If you’re on a budget find other similarly coloured objects to mix in – red apples, berries, candles, coloured glass, pretty buttons or vintage brooches. Another perfect idea for reflecting the colour palette – add berries to your champagne!

I spread the ombre centrepiece theme into the cake (gorgeous!) and more stunningly – the bridesmaids dress. You’d have to be a rather daring bride to put your maids in something as show stopping as this but i couldn’t not have this in the collection! Love this colour, love this board – would love to see someone attempt this sultry scarlet glamour on their big day.
