Another day, another beautiful celebration to share. I love my job.
This morning we are joining Brides Up North Featured Supplier Karli Harrison Photography and newly weds Amelia and Danny at their chic celebration at Mitton Hall in the Ribble Valley. With a champagne theme (the perfect theme for any party if you ask me), and a bespoke gown, Amelia and Danny’s day was always going to go with a bang!
Amelia says: Danny proposed a few days before Christmas Day 2011, whilst we were on holiday in Paris. It was very romantic, he got down on one knee under the Arc de Triomphe at night.
We were married on 31st July 2013 at St Leonard’s Church in Downham, Clitheroe. Our wedding reception was then held at Mitton Hall. We chose Mitton Hall as it is a gorgeous 15th century manor house that has been modernised and converted into a country house hotel. It has beautiful surroundings, unique decor and we had heard fantastic reviews regarding the staff and food. I am thrilled to say that they all lived up to our expectations!
We didn’t really have a particular theme for the wedding, but as me and my husband are quite young to be getting married we wanted the day to reflect that and to most importantly be fun. We chose a vintage VW camper van as our wedding car and had a candy cart for our guests to enjoy.
We selected champagne for our colour scheme and subtly incorporated that throughout the day.
I really struggled to find ‘the perfect dress’ and after trying on over 50 dresses I came to realise that I had a clear idea of what I wanted and it simply wasn’t available to buy off the peg.
Luckily we knew a fantastic designer (Jean Jackson Couture) who helped me to put my ideas into a design and she understood how I imagined every aspect of the dress. Jean’s designs are so impressive that she also made my mothers dress.
My dress was white with a circular tulle skirt and a lace bodice with draping lace sleeves. My veil and shoes were also personalised in the same lace as on my bodice.
The bride and groom travelled to and from the venue in a vintage VW camper van and our family travelled in a classic limousine both by Broughton Wedding Cars.
I carried a simple yet beautiful bouquet of Lily of the Valley and gypsophila made by Flowers by Siobhan.
We also wanted to incorporate our family into the wedding service so my Aunty read an Irish Blessing and Danny’s father read a love poem which made us both very emotional! We both agreed that the wedding ceremony was the favourite time of the whole day. It is the part of the day that we most anticipated and the atmosphere in the church was fantastic as our family and friends were so pleased and excited for us.
We chose a white four tier cake with delicate branching flowers and vines made by Elaine’s Creative Cakes.
Lil Vinny Robinson an American soul singer started the evening reception and instantly had everyone on the dance floor. Then one of Mitton Hall’s resident DJs took over later in the evening with more modern dance songs.
After the wedding we travelled around Asia visiting Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia.
My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to spend time researching your photographer and videographer as they will hold the memories of your whole day. You also need to feel comfortable in their company as they are with you throughout the day from your preparations to the first dance, trying to capture all of your special moments.
Congratulations Amelia & Danny!
