roses & gold. enzoani for a sophisticated wedding in oldham – philippa & kallum

August 25th, 2017 | Alexis Forsyth

A Sophisticated Wedding in Oldham (c) Kate McCarthy Photography (35)

Instantly falling in love with their venue, today’s couple Philippa and Kallum, swapped their original idea of tying the knot abroad for the beautiful Saddleworth Hotel. And we’re glad they did, as their wedding features so much gorgeousness, with dramatic images set against moody skies and captivating woodland.

With lots of rose gold and shimmer, and a punchy hot pink accent throughout their colour scheme, this glamorous yet understated wedding is beautifully complemented by cherry blossom trees, pretty rose petals and peonies galore.

Throw in a spectacular fireworks display, photobooth fun, disposable cameras and even a magician, and you’ve got one wonderfully entertaining and memorable line-up for their special day, as Philippa now reveals…

philippa says: We got engaged in Sri Lanka in December 2016. I had been looking at what trips we could do whilst we were there and found on Instagram all these beautiful photos of people at the top of a mountain called Adams Peak. You’re so high you are above the clouds and it just looked magical, so obviously I made Kallum do it. After a full day trip from our hotel to our accommodation at the bottom of Adams Peak we had to wake up at 2am to get to the top of the mountain to watch the sun rise. After a 3ish hour hike up the mountain we got there way too early and didn’t realise how cold it would be so we just sat there cuddling for an hour to try keep warm; waiting for this once in a lifetime sunrise to happen.

When the sunrise finally came up, it was like nothing we had ever seen before – you really did feel like you were in the heavens. It was quite busy at the top of the mountain now with tourists so Kallum pulled me to one side to take some photos of us without anyone else being around. We walked down a few steps to a secluded spot looking over the mountains and rolling clouds and all of a sudden Kallum got down on one knee and pulled out the biggest diamond I have ever seen in my life and asked me to marry him! It was so surreal, it was the most wonderful and overwhelming surprise of my life. It wasn’t until after we got back down the mountain Kallum told me how stressed he had been (as we got engaged nearly a week into our holiday) keeping it a secret and trying not to lose the ring as we climbed the mountain!

We got married on 10th June 2017. The only reason we chose this is my mum found the wedding venue and this is the only date they had available in the summer. We always said we wouldn’t want a long engagement so we thought, why not?

We tied the knot at The Saddleworth Hotel, in Oldham. We always thought about getting married abroad or outside somewhere more rustic but when we viewed the venue, it was so glamorous we just instantly fell in love with it.

We didn’t have a specific theme, we just wanted everything to feel super sophisticated and glamorous to match with the venue. The tables were covered in gold sequin cloth, which made it feel so luxurious.

Colour-scheme-wise, I’m obsessed with anything rose gold, glittery or shiny which was reflected in the table décor. I was going to have the bridesmaids in a sequin rose gold dress, which looked amazing, but then they tried on a bright lipstick pink dress and they just looked so incredible we had to add that into the day too, so we added the bright pink to the flowers and the groomsmen’s socks.

I wore a beautiful Enzoani backless wedding dress from Scarlett Poppy, in Pudsey. In my mind, I always wanted a very fitted wedding dress that was quite figure hugging and backless. It was the first wedding dress I tried on and nothing else compared to it.

Miley Gardner did my makeup and she was amazing – I felt so lucky to have found her! The makeup she did on the bridesmaids and myself was beautiful and lasted all day long. As for our hair, my amazing friend Vicki did mine and also the bridesmaids’ hairstyles and made everyone look so flawless for the day.

blushing gold. a stylish wedding at wylam brewery – chelsea & steven

July 26th, 2017 | Alexis Forsyth

A Pretty Blush Wedding at Wylam Brewery (c) Bethany Whittaker (30)

The exquisitely unique venue of Wylam Brewery in Newcastle’s Exhibition Park provides the quirky setting for today’s beautiful wedding which, as it happens, is just a stone’s throw from our bride’s childhood home.

Chelsea and Steven tied the knot in May of this year and were after a venue a little bit unconventional – and Wylam Brewery certainly has this quality in spades. Prettifying the space with gorgeous blooms and a blush, navy and rose gold palette, this is a wedding beaming in all things contemporary, stylish and ever so elegant.

So, grab yourself a tipple and join us as Chelsea reminisces about their special day – from her princess ball gown dress to the handmade sweetie favours and magical photos by the lake.

chelsea says: We got engaged on 21st December 2015. Steven had been planning to recreate our first date but I was really hungry and kept moaning about needing to be fed, so I kind of ruined it. Steven had been acting shifty all day and wouldn’t take his coat off whilst we were out. While we were on the Metro home, his mam and dad kept texting him too (which I now know was to tell him to do it anyway regardless of it not going to plan!). We live near the beach and Steven asked if we could go for a walk to the sea front. I said it was too cold but he kept saying please, so I gave in eventually. We walked down to the sea front and he hugged me tight and started saying some really nice things – and then he got down on one knee with a Fenwick’s bag in one hand (from our Christmas shopping) and the ring in the other and asked me to marry him. I remember laughing so much at the Fenwick’s bag but eventually said yes!

We tied the knot on 29th April 2017. This date had no particular significance, although Steven had started telling people that was the date (with nothing actually arranged) so we had to go with it in the end!

We got married at Wylam Brewery in Exhibition Park. We picked this venue as I had lived in the bungalow situated in the park (where my parents still live) so it was particularly special to get married so close to their house. We also loved the quirkiness of the venue and had been looking for something non-traditional.

We didn’t have a specific theme; we just wanted it to be relaxed and fun. We had a navy, blush pink and rose gold colour scheme – I love these colours and think they work really well together.

I went for a classic ball gown style dress by Ronald Joyce. As soon as I put it on, I fell in love – it was everything I thought I didn’t want but couldn’t help but love. Joanne from House of Bellas Bridal actually picked the dress for me so it wasn’t one of my initial choices. I knew it was the one when my mam cried.

Steven and the grooms all hired their suits from Waltons. They wore tailored three-piece navy blue suits with pink ties and pocket squares.

My bridesmaids wore blush pink, floor length dresses from Monsoon. I loved the jewels around the waistline and they looked so beautiful on all five of my bridesmaids.

all that glitters. rose gold for a glamorous winter wedding at mere court hotel – maxine & alex

June 1st, 2017 | Laura McDonagh

A Rose Gold Winter Wedding in Cheshire (c) Lee Brown Photography (64)

Err, bride Maxine from today’s real wedding, can we be your friend please? Check out these photographs from her wedding to the lovely Alex and try to deny that this wedding belle was seriously good to her #bridesquad girls: not only are they wearing the most beautiful floral dressing gowns in their preparation pics, but she chose floor-length, rose gold sequinned gowns for them for the ceremony. I mean, I’d be literally skipping down the aisle!

Maxine herself wows effortlessly in her slinky lace number, which moved smoothly from the hotel ceremony to the couple’s gorgeous outdoor photoshoot and from day to night. And what a night it was from the look of things – love lights, laughter and leapfrogs. What all good weddings are made of!

maxine says: Alex proposed to me in Cairns. He had been in Australia with work for six months and I had gone to visit him. He popped the question just after we‘d been scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. It was perfect!

We got married on 18th February 2017. We wanted to get married fairly quickly; a long engagement wasn’t for us. We knew we couldn’t rely on the weather and liked the idea of a winter wedding.

We got married at Mere Court Hotel, Cheshire, and had both the ceremony and reception there. I viewed it while Alex was in Australia. I knew as soon as I looked at I that it was what we both wanted.  It had a country house feel with lots of rooms for our guests to stay in, an intimate ceremony room with a lot of character and an amazing conservatory for the reception.

For our theme, we went with a winter glamour/Gatsby-type feel. I knew I didn’t want red and knew I wanted the bridesmaids in rose gold sequin maxi dresses and so the ideas just stemmed from there. I love how rose gold, bronze and ivory work together – the bridesmaids looked amazing in their dresses!

I bought my dress at a bridal shop owned by my friend Holly, Dream Dress Bridal. I‘d tried a few dresses on at wedding fairs for Holly and had an idea of the style I liked. I loved the one I eventually chose, particularly its detailed back. I knew I didn’t want a veil but a tiara; it went perfectly with the dress.

Alex wore a blue Signature suit from Next with a waistcoat and taupe tie. The colour looked amazing on Alex and thankfully went with the theme! The groomsmen also wore blue suits from Next.

love, lights, action. a rose gold plus size bridal styled shoot in the north west

May 25th, 2017 | Julia Braime

A Rose Gold Styled Shoot (c) Teresa C Photography (25)

Ready for something super, duper pretty? Well surely it doesn’t get much prettier than a styled shoot inspired by every girl’s current favourite colour, rose gold?!

Glamorous, feminine and fun, what’s not to love about this on-trend hue, which is making a stylish statement on the wedding scene right now.

Led by Rebecca Lord-Lyon, a fellow rose-gold lover and owner of Cheshire’s award-winning plus size bridal boutique, Edith & Winston Bridalwear, this shoot demonstrates beautifully how to incorporate this magical metal tone into various elements of your big day.

Offering ideas on everything from the dress to the details, we’ll hand over the blogging reins to Rebecca so that she can explain how she and her talented North West industry friends pulled the whole shoot together…

rebecca says: The shoot was inspired by a new product created by Stacy from Love Lights The Way – a beautiful rose gold, light-up love heart called ‘Lola’. The unique, light-up prop quickly became a massive hit with brides and after seeing Lola for myself at a wedding fair, I also fell head over heels for her and so spoke to Stacy about collaborating on a special photoshoot.

Rose gold has become a very popular colour – it’s everywhere this spring; interiors, fashion and it’s a growing trend in weddings too. We therefore wanted to create a shoot together that would show our brides how to use this pretty colour for their big day.

Stacy decided that the shoot was the perfect opportunity to introduce some more unique, rose gold pieces to her collection and so we used the shoot to launch these products alongside our brand new bridal accessories by Richard Designs.

A Rose Gold Styled Shoot (c) Teresa C Photography (29)

I knew that Teresa, of Teresa C Photography, had to be our photographer. Having worked with her before, we knew she could capture the plus size model beautifully. Teresa is an amazing photographer and has worked at so many of the North West’s wedding venues. For this shoot she suggested Liverpool’s incredible The Venue at the Royal Liver Building, as our location. We trusted her instinct and she wasn’t wrong; the venue has clean lines, pure white walls and perfect lighting.

And so, on the windiest day of the year, our team of fabulous handpicked wedding suppliers, came together to pool their skills – even Storm Doris couldn’t get in the way of this photoshoot!

A Rose Gold Styled Shoot (c) Teresa C Photography (15)

Precious Things were simply given the colour scheme brief of rose gold and ivory, and then we let their imaginations run free. As event stylists, they teamed up with Stacy to create the most incredible setting for our shoot, which even included a metallic rose gold tropical flower tree!

A Rose Gold Styled Shoot (c) Teresa C Photography (33)

The aim was to create a look that was eye-catching and elegant as well as relaxed. They coupled rose gold sequinned table cloths with bespoke ivory frothed chair covers and handmade the copper-coloured paper flowers that were on each place setting.

For the bouquets, they used Tulips, Roses, Scabiosa Seed Pods, Broom ‘Genista’, Asparagus Fern, Berried Eucalyptus, Sweet Avalanche Roses and Success Hanoi Ranunculous.

The trees were made to be multifunctional: the smaller of the two was the perfect spring centrepiece for the decadent sequinned guest table. The larger was a fabulous backdrop. The bark of each tree was sprayed rose gold to glam up the loose yet pretty arrangement at the top. Additional flowers used in the trees were Snapdragons and Broom.

The backdrop structure was dressed with ivory voile and an abundance of foliage and flowers, which could either be used as an arch to say ‘I do’ or a photo backdrop to rival any photobooth.

rose gold. eddy k for a classic wedding at the midland, manchester – beverley & danny

January 22nd, 2016 | Rachel Parry

A Rose Gold Wedding at The Midland Hotel (c) Teresa C Photography (38)

Friday has finally arrived and we’re rewarding you for making it through the week with this incredibly gorgeous real wedding in Manchester’s city centre.

Earning itself a place as one of our favourite weddings of the month, we adore the elegant and romantic styling that centres round a luxurious rose gold and dusky pink colour palette. pure perfection!

Prepare yourselves for a whole lot of pretty…

danny says: We got engaged at Room in Manchester in 2013. I’d arranged to meet Beverley straight from work for impromptu drinks and a meal. We headed to Cloud 23 at the Hilton for cocktails and I was planning on proposing whilst looking out at the sunset over the city. I went to the toilets to get the ring ready but when I returned Beverley was on the phone, her mother had decided to call. Proposal aborted. We then headed to one of our favourite restaurants and ordered steak and champagne, I proposed after another aborted try when the waitress interrupted with our starters.

We set the date for 11th September 2015. We wanted to avoid the heat of peak summer and chose a Friday so we could stretch the occasion throughout the weekend.

A Rose Gold Wedding at The Midland Hotel (c) Teresa C Photography (33)

Our ceremony was held at St George’s Church in Altrincham, where we live and the reception was at The Midland hotel in Manchester.

We chose the church as it was local to us and Beverley had always wanted to be married with a church service. The Midland meanwhile is an amazing building and we were so impressed when we were shown around by the wedding coordinator Nina Rodriguez, when attending a wedding fair there. The room was setup so beautifully and the cost was much more reasonable than other comparable venues we had visited. The in-house catering made a big difference too. We were not disappointed, as everything was perfect on the day and the staff looked after us incredibly well.
