As Lucky As We Are! A Real Wedding In The North East – Carly & Daniel

Wynyard Hall Wedding by GS Studios

.

.

We are staying in the North East this morning with this breath-taking Real Wedding at Wynyard Hall, sent to me by Brides Up North Featured Supplier Gemma of GS Studio and gorgeous real bride Carly.

.

Carly and Daniel chose a classic colour scheme for their elegant celebration and let their stunning venue, chic sense of style and tasteful details lead the way.  Stunning.

Carly says: Daniel proposed at Edinburgh Castle on 31st October 2009 and we were married on 22nd September 2012 at Wynyard Hall Chapel and Wynyard Hall.

Danny proposed in Edinburgh and it is one of our favourite places to visit so we chose the city as our theme. Our table plan was set around Edinburgh- the top table was the Castle and all the other tables were our favourite landmarks in Edinburgh.  We chose a romantic colour scheme of sage green and gun metal grey.

For my wedding dress, I chose a Ronald Joyce design called Dakota from Christabel & Keats in Hartlepool and I carried a bouquet containing roses, orchids and eucalyptus by Valerie Rose.  I really let my florist go to town and just asked for seasonal flowers to tie in with our colour scheme.

My bridesmaids wore mid length strapless sage green dresses from Coast, and they looked gorgeous!

I enjoyed the whole day from beginning to end: I loved entering the church to see everyone, and saying my vows to Daniel. I also had a fantastic time dancing the night away in the evening. I didn’t want it to be over!

We chose Wynyard Hall as is a stunning place, location and excellent service.  On the day, they had some help in dressing the event from Ivory White Events who were responsible for the chair covers and table coverings and Papercraft who provided our wedding stationery.

I didn’t pay for a professional videographer, however we bought a camcorder and we asked someone to record the day. It was brilliant looking back and seeing bits that you may have missed.

Instead of a message book we had a chalk board where people could write their messages for us.  Gemma from GS Studio will then put these into an album for us.  It’s a fun and surprising alternative to a guest book and we have some great messages to read through (some funny, some wise…)

Daniel’s father sang some old songs with his guitar during our wedding breakfast, and my sister (chief bridesmaid, Stephanie) sang some modern love songs after our first dance to kick the evening party off. We also had a casino as part of our entertainment.

After the wedding we honeymooned for four nights in Las Vegas, then we flew to Cancun, Mexico for  eight nights – complete bliss!

You Are Real To Me, A Real Wedding – Rosie & Tom

August 25th, 2011 | Brides Up North: UK Wedding Blog

Brides Up North Wedding Blog: McAvoy Weddings

.

.

This Real Wedding submitted by Jenny & Keith McAvoy Wedding Photographers really warms the cockles.  It’s full of love, laughter and built on friendship, which, once everything else is stripped away, is really the main thing isn’t it?

.

This thought actually reminds me of a beautiful wedding reading from The Velveteen Rabbit, that I can’t help but share (feel free to borrow it!):

.

“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you – and a stick out handle?”  “REAL isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse – “It’s a thing that happens to you.  When a child loves you for a long, long time – not just to play with – but REALLY loves you, then you become real.”  “Does it hurt?” asked the rabbit.  “Sometimes,” said the skin horse – for he was always truthful “When you are REAL, you don’t mind being hurt.”  “Does it happen all at once, like being wound up” he asked – “or bit by bit?”  “It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the skin horse.  -  “You become.  It takes a long time.  That’s why it doesn’t often happen to people who break easily – who sharp edges, or have to be carefully kept.  Generally, by the time you are REAL, – most of your hair has been loved off – your eyes drop out – you get loose in the joints and very shabby.  But these things don’t matter at all, because, once you are REAL you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”  “I suppose you are REAL?” said the Rabbit.  And then he wished he had not said it – for he thought the skin horse might be sensitive – But the skin horse only smiled.  “The Boy’s Uncle made me REAL,” he said.  “That was a great many years ago – but once you are REAL you can’t become unreal again.”

Look at this getting all philosophical on a Thursday afternoon!  Better hand you over to McAvoy Weddings sharpish…

Over to Jenny McAvoy: We met Rosie and Tom at the National Wedding show in October 2010.  We met up for a lovely autumnal engagement shoot in November near their Yorkshire home at East Riddleston Hall and following their viewing they booked us for their wedding. We went up to nosey at their gorgeous venue, Goldsborough Hall, earlier this year and could not wait for the wedding – a truly fabulous venue!

Rosie and Tom met when then went to the same school.  It was also Rosie’s 24th birthday on the day they married so Tom has no excuse for not remembering their anniversary!
