forget black friday, its a white sunday: LOVE bridal boutique sample sale!

November 17th, 2017 | Julia Braime

Denver (3)

Is there anything more perfect than bagging your dream dress at a fabulously discounted price? We think not!! And so we’re delighted to be brining you news of an exclusive autumn sample sale set to take place at Brides Up North Sponsor, LOVE Bridal Boutique in Altrincham, Cheshire, later this month.

Owner Emma Draper and her team will be hosting the event on Sunday 26th November 2017, that will see a selection of the gorgeous boutique’s designer gowns available at unbelievable prices – we’re talking dresses from as little as £200 ladies, meaning you’ll be able to afford those dream designer heels after all!

But this is a one-day, appointment-only event, so you’ve got to be quick off the mark to secure yourself an appointment, which could result in you being the proud owner of one of the stunning gowns featured in this post!

So, prepare to take note, as the lovely Emma is here with the all-important deets!

Cherie (2)

emma says: The sample sale will take place between 9.30am and 5pm on Sunday 26th November, with 45-minute appointments available.

The event will be an exciting opportunity to get your hands on the last few dresses I have from previous collections (including 2017 styles) to make way in the boutique for brand new arrivals.

There will be gorgeous gowns from Stewart Parvin, Sarah Seven, Raimon Bundo, Alan Hannah, Enzoani, Terry Fox and Heritage Bridal – at prices starting from just £200!

Because we only have one of each of these samples available to buy, we are selling these beautiful gowns at a reduced price and, for those brides who have done their research, we can promise these are deals you won’t want to miss.

Felicia (2)

Sample sales are ideal for brides who yearn for a designer dress, but whose budget won’t quite stretch, for brides with less than six-months to go before their big day (so no time to order new) or for brides who know exactly what style and fit of dress suits them.

All the dresses on display are for sale ‘off the peg,’ available to take home with you on the day, and must be paid for in full, so we encourage bringing someone with you who is both honest and decisive!

The gowns included in this event generally range from a bridal size 10 to a size 12, but most can be taken in by up a couple of dress sizes too.

Nancy (2)

Don’t miss your chance to snap up your dream gown at a phenomenally lower price – when they’re gone, they’re gone!

To secure an appointment, email hello@lovebridalboutique.co.uk, or call 0161 941 6446, but be quick! First come, first served!

real wedding recap: stewart parvin for a luxurious winter wedding at colshaw hall – luisa & peter

January 3rd, 2017 | Laura McDonagh

It’s holiday season here on the blog, and as the editorial team take a short break, we’ll be leaving you with a reduced blogging schedule so that you still get your daily dose of wedding lovely. Usual service will recommence on Monday 9th January 2017 but in the meantime watch out for recaps of some of our favourite Real Weddings from 2016.

Drop in every day for the very prettiest, most unique wedding inspiration and – if you are a Brides Up North bride – to see if your real wedding was one of our top picks.

Luisa and Peter pulled off the impressive feat of a winter wedding without a can of snow spray or a gilded pine cone in sight. Instead, their big day at Colshaw Hall in Cheshire, was led by an organic woodland theme, full of warm earthy tones and plenty of grown-up black-tie glamour.

The food and the playlist were particular focal points for this Manchester music-loving pair, and the following day saw the festivities extended with an aprés-ski extravaganza. So get comfortable, perhaps with a glass of Malbec or a mulled wine – go on, Luisa would definitely approve!

luisa says: Peter and I got engaged in Barbados. One night we went down for dinner and, instead of heading for our usual table in the restaurant, we were led down a path lined with candles that took us to a private beach and a table for two. When we sat down and opened the menus, I saw all of my favourite foods and champagne. Then a steel band appeared playing Elvis Presley’s I Cant Help Falling In Love With You. When I looked around, Peter was down on one knee; it was a truly magical moment. He made a beautiful speech and, of course, I said yes. We spent the rest of the week celebrating and relaxing; it was just so perfect!

We chose to get married on 19th December 2015 because it was the closest Saturday to the Winter Solstice – a date important to me and my mum. We wanted a winter wedding as we felt that there were lots more options to explore in terms of the decorations and the vibe that we could create.

For the venue, we chose Colshaw Hall in Cheshire. We wanted to make sure that the event was totally private and this was the huge bonus of Colshaw: the venue and all of its grounds are hired exclusively so we wouldn’t be sharing our special day with anyone else. Secondly, as Peter’s family are based in Suffolk, we wanted to make sure that there was accommodation onsite to ensure that the wedding weekend was as easy as possible for those travelling. Having looked at quite a few venues in the area, Colshaw’s accommodation was, we felt, the most beautiful. Each room has its own stunning theme and beautiful view over the grounds. Colshaw’s Peel Suite also offered a beautiful blank canvas; no wedding looks the same there. We had hired the main house for the drinks and canapés straight after the service and this offered a unique, cosy, Christmas drinks party atmosphere.

Theme-wise, we wanted to create a natural and organic winter forest. Peter and I love walking our dog Digby up on the Edge and we wanted to recreate that same earthy, woodland environment. I wanted my wedding to be just that little bit ‘out there’, and having the trees as the centrepiece certainly achieved that goal. As our wedding was the weekend before Christmas, I think people expected us to go down the more conventional festive route and it was truly lovely seeing their reactions to the chapel and the main room. We’d focused on lots of earthy tones, such as dark greens and ambers, making sure that everything was lit by candles to create warmth.

I had chosen quite a traditional and simple gown designed by Stewart Parvin with the lace detail as a nod to my Italian heritage. My dress was bought and styled by the incredible ladies at LOVE Bridal in Cheshire. They helped accessorise my gown with a Stewart Parvin veil, lace jacket and honey-toned belt which contemporised it perfectly. My shoes were Hangisis by Manolo Blahnik; I just loved their quirkiness. In the evening, I removed the lace jacket and added a thin sparkly belt to liven it up for the dancing. I visited several bridal stores and LOVE Bridal’s service surpassed all the London boutiques. From the beautiful little cakes they serve to the ‘grand reveal’, the wonderful Emma and Clare have it covered.

in full bloom. stewart parvin for a spring wedding at statham lodge – laura & mike

August 30th, 2016 | Julia Braime

A Spring Wedding at Statham Lodge (c) Jonny Draper Photography (62)

Spring has official sprung in today’s real wedding, which features beautiful blooms in abundance!

Centring the styling of their wedding round their favourite season, Laura and Mike went to town on sensational spring arrangements with their centrepieces among the most impressive we have ever seen!

We love the fresh, pretty colour scheme that brings the whole look together and have to mention Laura’s gorgeous long-sleeved lace detailed dress – just stunning!

laura says: We got engaged at the summit of Win Hill in the Peak District on my birthday, October 13th 2014. Mike had planned a romantic walk and picnic, but the weather turned and it became a battle against the autumn elements. Despite this, we had the most beautiful views into Ladybower and Hope. Mike produced a diamond ring after the picnic, but lost his composure and forgot to actually ask me ‘the question’…or even get down on one knee. After a few minutes of awkward suspense, Mike managed to ask me and I said yes.

When we first met, we discovered our mutual love for the outdoors. We would always plan days together out walking, cycling or running. Spring is our favourite time of year when the days get longer and we start to plan our summer days out. So for us, it was always going to be a spring wedding. We chose the spring bank holiday weekend to allow our guests a much-needed day off before heading back to work after the wedding.

We made a big move together over the Pennines from Leeds to Manchester for work and family reasons in 2014. We decided to live in Lymm for its easy access to open countryside, canal paths and woodland. We fell in love with the area and plan to lay down our roots and start a family here so it seemed right to marry in the area too. We had our ceremony at St Peter’s, our local church in Oughtrington, which sit sits rather majestically on the Cheshire skyline in Lymm. We always wanted a church wedding, as we believe it adds real meaning to our vows and to our marriage as a whole.

For the reception we chose Statham Lodge, a large Georgian country house near Lymm. We chose it following a meeting with their wedding coordinator, Andy Ball. He impressed us with his professionalism and warmness and we immediately entrusted him with our big day with no reservations.

A Spring Wedding at Statham Lodge (c) Jonny Draper Photography (71)

Our theme was simplistic, in that the majority of the work was done by the beautiful spring scenery and weather on the day. Our flowers, decorations and outfits were chosen to complement the theme of the spring outdoors.

We chose a sky blue and lemon colour scheme with the aim of recreating a scene of daffodils, tulips and daises on a crisp sunny blue sky.

the big north sample sale.

February 19th, 2015 | Julia Braime

Hollywood

One of my favourite ever scenes in Friends (hey, I’m a big fan!) is the one where Monica, Rachel and Phoebe head to the NYC dress sale to search for Monica’s dream wedding dress.  Issued with whistles by the ever competitive Monica to attract attention if they locate the gown, the girls split up.  A frenzied scene results in a tussle over tulle and Jennifer Aniston cowering under a rail of frocks, using her whistle to sound the search alarm.

Girls, now’s your chance to unleash your inner Monica.

Our North East readers are sorted for this weekend’s plans, but Cheshire ladies… clear your calendar.

Big North Sample Sale

The big north sample sale is brought to you by three leading bridal boutiques in the North-West – Agapé Bridal Boutique, Love Bridal Boutique and The White Closet, and will be held at one of Cheshire’s most popular and one of Brides Up North’s own favourite wedding venues (we’ll be here a month later for our fabulous Luxury & Vintage Wedding Exhibition), The Bowdon Rooms this Sunday 22nd February 2015.

This is the first collaboration of its kind in the North West, developed by three innovative boutiques who had the idea of bringing a host of leading bridal designers together all under one roof for Northern brides-to-be, offering a broad selection of bridal gown styles at amazing discounted prices.

Usually, a bridal boutique would host their own individual sample sale event meaning only a limited amount of brides are able to attend, with a smaller selection of dresses to choose from. The three boutiques involved pride themselves on being in tune with their brides, and knowing that the average bride likes to view a number of designers before making their final dress decision, what better way to present a sample sale than to bring the crème de la crème of bridal designers together for one exclusive event! The Big North Sample Sale allows a larger number of brides to attend and choose from a wide variety of fabulous gowns and designers.

With a collection of much sought after designers including Jenny Packham, Alan Hannah, Temperley London, Charlotte Balbier, Stephanie Allin, Stewart Parvin, Claire Pettibone, Amanda Wakeley, Terry Fox, Raimon Bundo, Ian Stuart and many many more, and with dresses available from £100 to £1700, this event is going to be seriously popular. There will also be a selection of accessories on offer too and some bridesmaid gowns. Savvy brides who know their designers, and appreciate great quality gowns will be in their element with dresses for sale at a fraction of the price. This event will also suit brides who have a shorter timescale to find their dress and whose only option may be to buy ‘off the rail’. Sample dress sizes range from 8-14.

2015-02-19_0002

all gowns featured are available to buy at the event

Brides will have the opportunity to try on gowns at the event, choosing a maximum of 2 at a time. There will be dedicated changing areas (predominantly communal changing areas with some private changing areas available too) and lots of mirrors around the venue. Brides are encouraged to wear nude underwear and also bring a pair of heels of the height they are thinking of wearing on their wedding day. Bridal experts from each boutique will also be on hand to offer any advice on any alterations required, recommended seamstress contacts, dry cleaning etc (alterations and dry cleaning are not included in the dress price) There is a strict girls only policy at the event too!

Payment for dresses will be by cash or card (Visa, Mastercard or Maestro).

Whistles at the ready!

Real Wedding Recap Summer 2014. Puppy Love! A Real Wedding At Mitton Hall – Keri & Tom

July 2nd, 2014 | Julia Braime

Its holiday season here on the blog, and as the editorial team take a break to redesign, review and recharge, we’ll be leaving you with a reduced blogging schedule so that you still get your daily dose of wedding lovely.

Usual service will recommence on Monday 7th July 2014,  but in the meantime watch out for recaps of our favourite Real Weddings so far this year.  Drop in every day for the very prettiest, most unique wedding inspiration and – if you are a Brides Up North bride – to see if your Real Wedding was one of our top picks.

Mick Cookson Photography

I adore Keri and Tom’s beautiful wedding day.  Every detail, from Keri’s gorgeous dress (that waist!) to their navy and lavender colour scheme, to the fact that their puppy Marvin came along too – in a bowtie no less – is gorgeous.  Packed with personal touches, fun surprises and lots and lots of pretty, I hope you love it as much as I do.

Keri says:  We got engaged on Christmas Day 2012. The ring was in my Christmas stocking that was hanging on the fireplace.

We were married on 03.03.14 at Mitton Hall in Clitheroe.  It was my Nan’s birthday so the date was very special to the family.

Mick Cookson Photography

We walked in to the entrance lobby and were in awe of how incredible it looked. The whole place and staff were so inviting and after a tour around and chat with Victoria the wedding planner we knew it was the venue for us. We knew it was as soon as we walked in.

Wedding Make-up and Hair  was by Flossy and Leigh and my wedding hair pieces by Eleventh Heaven.

I chose a Stewart Parvin Dress called ‘Luck be a Lady’ from Aphrodite in Knutsford. It was a dress that I didn’t even plan on trying on. Terry who owned the shop said I should try it and as soon as I put it on I knew it was the one! I tried it on with a lace bolero and a beautiful band around my waist and it became even more perfect! Tom wore a suit from Gieves & Hawkes and shirt from TM Lewin.

Mick Cookson Photography

Our bridesmaids wore navy dresses from Coast and the best men wore navy suits from Next. Tom, his Best Men, the ushers, our fathers and my Grandad wore the same Midnight Blue tie.

Our wedding had a couple of themes! Our wedding was quite rustic; hand decorated jars with twine, lace and hessian filled with lavender, gypsy grass, potpourri and tea lights decorated the tables resting on hessian runners and chopped circular wood. Lavender was a key part of this theme as it was my Nan’s favourite scent. We also incorporated America into our wedding as we met at a Camp in Pennsylvania,New York in 2010. We even made our America theme rustic with old postcards, a map as our table plan and faded American flags on our American sweet table!

Mick Cookson Photography

We had a memory table with framed pictures of close family members who couldn’t be with us on our wedding day. Next to the table, on a blackboard we wrote ‘Because someone we love is in heaven, there is a little bit of heaven here today’. We also made a donation box where all the money donated went to Alzheimer’s Research UK. If you wanted to donate you could take a jar from the table home with you.

We honestly can’t decide on a favourite part; we wouldn’t change one thing about our day. Everything that we planned, all our family and friends around us, everyone enjoying themselves made our day truly special to us

Charlene at Love Gets Sweeter made our wedding film.  I don’t understand why some people don’t think the video is important! I felt as happy as I did on the wedding day watching our film back.

We chose La Boheme for our wedding cake as we have always enjoyed her cakes and treats. The gluten free cake has always been my favourite. As we both love cakes so much we decided to have a cake table; we had one two tiered cake Victoria sponge cake (one tier was gluten free), surrounded by lavender meringues, salted caramel macaroons, mini Victoria sponge cakes, cookies and cake pops.

Mick Cookson Photography

We also had little surprises for each other; Tom got a friend to play ‘Hey Ho’ for us as we walked into the reception room, I sang ‘Hey Ho’ for him and the guests later on (with the same friend playing guitar…great minds)! Tom created a rap to the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ about meeting me and my family within his speech. My sister-in-law and brothers kindly made beer bottle labels titled ‘Scruffy Puppy’ that also had a picture of our dog Marvin on it to surprise Tom when I gave him his favourite ‘Honey Blonde’ Beer. I also made up a flash mob dance to a songs my sister in law had edited together. The flash mob was taught to all my hens (including my mum, mother in law and mums best friend!) and we surprised everyone with the dance. To finish the dance we all turned around with masks of Toms face on and danced to his favourite song ‘Bump and Grind’!!

DJ Ben was included in our package at Mitton Hall. Ben was incredible; he had the dance floor full all night.

Mick Cookson Photography

For our honeymoon, we went on a wildlife tour in Borneo; it was incredible. We went on a private tour and travelled around so we got to see lots of wildlife. We also tried scuba diving, went across canopy walkways, paddled in waterfalls, stayed in the rainforest. At the end of the adventure we stayed in for a few nights in a hotel where we got to relax and chill.

Mick Cookson Photography

My top tip for other Brides Up North is to space everything out and start getting tasks done early. We made a lot of our decorations and we started ticking ‘To Do’s’ of our list months before the big day so there was no stress closer to the wedding. We had finished everything we needed to do three weeks before the day which meant there was no stress and we really got to enjoy the build up.

We also think its important not to be afraid to ask for help; a lot of people will be willing to help as they will want your day to be perfect for you. We cant thank our family and my friend Julie (one of my bridesmaids who came over from Australia) enough. We had evenings together of decorating jars, making the table runners and the table plan, etc. It was so lovely to have them all involved and getting to spend time with family.

Mick Cookson Photography

Congratulations Keri & Tom!
