Ready for something super, duper pretty? Well surely it doesn’t get much prettier than a styled shoot inspired by every girl’s current favourite colour, rose gold?!
Glamorous, feminine and fun, what’s not to love about this on-trend hue, which is making a stylish statement on the wedding scene right now.
Led by Rebecca Lord-Lyon, a fellow rose-gold lover and owner of Cheshire’s award-winning plus size bridal boutique, Edith & Winston Bridalwear, this shoot demonstrates beautifully how to incorporate this magical metal tone into various elements of your big day.
Offering ideas on everything from the dress to the details, we’ll hand over the blogging reins to Rebecca so that she can explain how she and her talented North West industry friends pulled the whole shoot together…

rebecca says: The shoot was inspired by a new product created by Stacy from Love Lights The Way – a beautiful rose gold, light-up love heart called ‘Lola’. The unique, light-up prop quickly became a massive hit with brides and after seeing Lola for myself at a wedding fair, I also fell head over heels for her and so spoke to Stacy about collaborating on a special photoshoot.
Rose gold has become a very popular colour – it’s everywhere this spring; interiors, fashion and it’s a growing trend in weddings too. We therefore wanted to create a shoot together that would show our brides how to use this pretty colour for their big day.
Stacy decided that the shoot was the perfect opportunity to introduce some more unique, rose gold pieces to her collection and so we used the shoot to launch these products alongside our brand new bridal accessories by Richard Designs.
I knew that Teresa, of Teresa C Photography, had to be our photographer. Having worked with her before, we knew she could capture the plus size model beautifully. Teresa is an amazing photographer and has worked at so many of the North West’s wedding venues. For this shoot she suggested Liverpool’s incredible The Venue at the Royal Liver Building, as our location. We trusted her instinct and she wasn’t wrong; the venue has clean lines, pure white walls and perfect lighting.
And so, on the windiest day of the year, our team of fabulous handpicked wedding suppliers, came together to pool their skills – even Storm Doris couldn’t get in the way of this photoshoot!
Precious Things were simply given the colour scheme brief of rose gold and ivory, and then we let their imaginations run free. As event stylists, they teamed up with Stacy to create the most incredible setting for our shoot, which even included a metallic rose gold tropical flower tree!
The aim was to create a look that was eye-catching and elegant as well as relaxed. They coupled rose gold sequinned table cloths with bespoke ivory frothed chair covers and handmade the copper-coloured paper flowers that were on each place setting.
For the bouquets, they used Tulips, Roses, Scabiosa Seed Pods, Broom ‘Genista’, Asparagus Fern, Berried Eucalyptus, Sweet Avalanche Roses and Success Hanoi Ranunculous.
The trees were made to be multifunctional: the smaller of the two was the perfect spring centrepiece for the decadent sequinned guest table. The larger was a fabulous backdrop. The bark of each tree was sprayed rose gold to glam up the loose yet pretty arrangement at the top. Additional flowers used in the trees were Snapdragons and Broom.
The backdrop structure was dressed with ivory voile and an abundance of foliage and flowers, which could either be used as an arch to say ‘I do’ or a photo backdrop to rival any photobooth.

Taking inspiration from one of their favourite countries, today’s bride and groom decided to do as the Italians would do on their wedding day by enjoying a relaxed celebration, complete with excellent company and delicious food.
From the pretty, natural colour scheme and elegant décor to the bespoke menu and dreamy cake, Michelle and Gary executed their italian vision to perfection!

michelle says: We got engaged while in Budapest for my 30th birthday. We went on a lovely walking tour, seeing the sights over Budapest from Fisherman’s Bastion, then had lunch at Gerbeaud’s, the inventor of cake and oldest confectioner in Budapest. After, we spent the afternoon in the Szechenyi Baths before heading back to the hotel. The proposal took place at the hotel, just before we were heading out for dinner at a little Italian restaurant right on the River Danube.
We decided on for 28th November 2015 for the wedding. Our anniversary is in November and a winter wedding was always the preferred choice.
We got married at Ashfield House Hotel, in Standish, Wigan. Gary was extremely keen to keep the wedding local and we wanted an intimate wedding. Ashfield ticked all the boxes as it had the stunning restaurant with wooden floors, chandeliers and neutral décor whilst also having a cosy and masculine feel in the library bar, so it suited us both. As a bonus, they also offered the option to design our own menu, which was a big selling point for us.
We decided on an Italian theme for our wedding. We didn’t want to go over the top with a theme but wanted the overall feel of an Italian wedding – very relaxed with natural décor and all about the food and company. Although we have travelled quite a bit, Italy is the place we feel most at home.
The colour scheme was a blush pink and nude. We wanted something quite timeless so went with blush pink for the bridesmaids and charcoal grey tails for the men.

Friday has finally arrived and we’re rewarding you for making it through the week with this incredibly gorgeous real wedding in Manchester’s city centre.
Earning itself a place as one of our favourite weddings of the month, we adore the elegant and romantic styling that centres round a luxurious rose gold and dusky pink colour palette. pure perfection!

danny says: We got engaged at Room in Manchester in 2013. I’d arranged to meet Beverley straight from work for impromptu drinks and a meal. We headed to Cloud 23 at the Hilton for cocktails and I was planning on proposing whilst looking out at the sunset over the city. I went to the toilets to get the ring ready but when I returned Beverley was on the phone, her mother had decided to call. Proposal aborted. We then headed to one of our favourite restaurants and ordered steak and champagne, I proposed after another aborted try when the waitress interrupted with our starters.
We set the date for 11th September 2015. We wanted to avoid the heat of peak summer and chose a Friday so we could stretch the occasion throughout the weekend.
We chose the church as it was local to us and Beverley had always wanted to be married with a church service. The Midland meanwhile is an amazing building and we were so impressed when we were shown around by the wedding coordinator Nina Rodriguez, when attending a wedding fair there. The room was setup so beautifully and the cost was much more reasonable than other comparable venues we had visited. The in-house catering made a big difference too. We were not disappointed, as everything was perfect on the day and the staff looked after us incredibly well.

This afternoon on the blog we have another wedding that stands out, not for having an unusual theme or vibrant colour scheme, but due to its simplicity.
After finding a dream venue in the West Tower, bride Victoria set to work adding elegant touches for the classic wedding she’d always dreamed of.
We love Victoria’s stunning Ronald Joyce gown, her maids’ lovely latte coloured dresses, the chic looking cake and all the pretty peonies. Just perfect!

victoria says: We got engaged on Christmas Day 2012, three months after having our little boy so Christian asked me when he had got in from work as he was working that Christmas Day. Not very romantic but it was nice.
We picked the date the 30th May 2015 for the wedding because ever since we have been together the weather has always been nice around that time of year.
We got married at West Tower, Ormskirk. I was told about the venue by my florist, who I have known for more than 15 years. We went and took a look around and fell I love with it that much it made me cry. It was just what we were looking for, it had character but was modern at the same so was perfect for us.
I wanted an elegant theme just because it looks so lovely and classy. I think I went for this theme once we had found our venue and I had found my dress as it made me feel elegant so everything just fell into place.
I went with a latte type of colour scheme as again I thought it looked elegant and classy. I just knew I didn’t want bright colours.
I chose a dress I didn’t think I would have as it had a high neckline and I always thought I would go for a strapless. It also had a lot of Swarovski crystals, which again I didn’t think of having initially. When I tried it on I was very surprised as it made stand up straight and made me feel so elegant – I just loved it. I did keep looking for a while but I just kept going back to the first one so that’s how I knew it was ‘the one’.
My dress was by Ronald Joyce and my full length vail was by Joyce Jackson, both bought from Romantica in Wigan. My headdress was by Richard Designs and that was from a friend’s bridal shop, Bride 2 Be, in Leigh. My shoes where Jenny Packham from Debenhams and all jewellery was from Debenhams too.
My husband, the best man and ushers all wore Moss London slim fitted suits with bid like waistcoats, which we thought really set them off. Their shoes were from Aldo and Topman and shirts from TM Lewin. Sue at The Wow Factor (who is amazing) made our son Harry’s full suit, the men’s ties and pocket ties and the bridesmaid dresses.
For transport on the wedding day we hired a Daimler car from Grace Wedding Cars in Ashton Wigan, which was lovely.
Our photographer was Teresa C Photography, who had already done photos for us in the past which we love so we didn’t hesitate at all in asking her would she do our wedding and the outcome was amazing. She is a very talented photographer and we would highly recommend her, as we always do.
Our cake was made by Jane at Coco Cakes. I wanted a simple cake with pearls and a faded colour effect. We also wanted it to be all different flavours, as it was going to be our evening desert after our barbecue. We went for Victoria sponge, carrot, chocolate and then lemon drizzle, plus more chocolate in 50 cupcakes. It was all delicious. She is amazing at cake making and I’ve always got my cakes made by her. It was a three-day proses to make the cake, which was well worth it – she is a perfectionist!
Stacey Whitaker from Perfect Daze, in Wigan, created all the flower arrangements, including those carried by me and my bridesmaids. I wanted all flowers for table arrangements to be mainly hydrangeas and peonies so left Stacey to work her magic. She is an amazing florist and would highly recommend her and her team.
As favours we gave soaps to the ladies and scratch cards to the men.
The entertainment for the evening was a band called Kings of the Dance Floor, who we found on the intern. They were an indie type of band and really got the place rocking! They were excellent all night and the dance floor was packed from beginning to end, which I guess you get with a very good band.
Special touches on the day included my one of my best friends Olie, giving me away as my mum and dad have both passed away. I also had an old picture of my parents displayed on the day. The best man David did an amazing job of his speech and everybody has been talking about it since. He managed to get everyone clicking their fingers to the Adams Family!
We would highly recommend West Tower to other couples, as they couldn’t do enough for us and the whole day ran smoothly. It was an amazing day, and one we will never forget!
We have yet to go on honeymoon. We are planning that for next year as we have just done the two of the most stressful things in life – buying a house and getting married.

For me there’s one thing about today’s wedding that really stands out – that dress!
Bride Nicola chose a detailed, 1920s style dress by Eliza Jane Howell for her moment in the limelight, and boy did she work it! Nicola looks just stunning and her maids are also a pretty vision in their dresses, which reflect the soft green and gold colour scheme.
It has to be said that the men easily live up to the style stakes too in their handsome air force blue suits.
We love all the pretty vintage touches in this wonderful wedding, including Nicola’s bouquet and the button holes that she made herself. Also big love to Oscar the pug dog – what a cutie!

nicola says: We got engaged on 26th November 2013 at Rivington Pike. Marc had asked permission from my dad and it took him two weeks to actually pluck up the courage to do it! We have a gorgeous dog, Oscar, so we were trying out new places to take him on walks. Marc took the engagement ring with him several times but there were always too many people for him to do it. We then went to Rivington Pike and Marc was adamant that we were going to find this waterfall he had heard about – which we did! As Marc proposed four deer ran past! Marc and I have been together since we were 17 years old so it only took him ten years to propose!
We set the date for 18th April 2015. We really wanted a Saturday, as quite a few of our friends are teachers so we needed a weekend date. The venue we wanted the reception to be at also only had two Saturdays free at that time. You definitely need to book in advance!
We got married in St John’s the Baptist Church. It was the church Marc’s parents were married in and where he was baptised. It is also local to us, just a five-minute drive. It’s a gorgeous church and we knew it would look great in the photos. We also had bell ringers, which was a perfect ending to the ceremony. Our reception was at The Villa Country House Hotel in Wrea Green, Preston.
I always wanted a vintage theme, similar to my sister’s wedding that had taken place two years earlier. For the colour scheme we chose sage/mint green and gold. The green went perfectly with the theme and also with the men’s suits, which were air force blue.
Again, I wanted a vintage theme dress. My two sisters and my mum all went wedding dress shopping with me and I tried on nearly every dress possible! When I finally found my dress I knew straight away. It was on display in Dan Kerr in Preston. I tried it on straight away and fell in love. I wanted a dress that I could feel comfortable in all day; one I could eat in, breathe in and dance in! The dress was Lauren from Eliza Jane Howell, which has an elegant, 1920s feel. Everyone has said that it was definitely a ‘Nicola’ dress!
The fantastic Kerry Baker did my wedding makeup, which I loved. A friend recommended Kerry and from the very beginning with communication via emails I knew Kerry was going to be great. Both at the trail and on the day she was professional, organised, skilled and fun! Kerry totally understood and perfected the ‘look’ I wanted. The morning of my wedding was very relaxed, which was mainly due to the organisational skills of Kerry and my hair stylist Duncan Fisher. I would highly recommend both.
Marc is a 6ft 4in guy who struggles to buy suits and we needed to get a suit to fit him and seven other men at a reasonable price. We got the suits from Slaters in Preston, the sales assistant there was fantastic! Marc chose a charming air force blue three-piece suit. The colour went perfectly with the green ties and hanky. The groomsmen wore the same suits and shoes. They looked great!
I wanted the bridesmaids to have a dress that they could wear again after the wedding. Their dresses were from Oh My Love. They were gold in colour so I added the green with use of a green wrap and a green belt, which my sister made with the ribbon used to make the invites.
We hired a car from Broughton Cars as they provides the transport for my sister’s wedding. They were great.
Teresa Cunningham of Teresa C Photography did our wedding photos. When we got engaged I knew that the important things were the church, the venue and the photographer – and I knew I needed to get these sorted first. A friend recommended Teresa and I am so glad she did. So talented, professional and I loved her work. I also absolutely fell in love with her story of how she became a photographer. I would definitely recommend Teresa to anyone. We also had a second shooter called Jodie who I only met on the day and she was great too. She had the pleasure of photographing the guys and she did a great job.
I made the bouquets and the buttonholes. I bought fake flowers and other details to go into the bouquet. I knew I wanted the flowers on display once the actual day was over. I loved making the bouquets and was very happy with the end result. I wanted the buttonholes to be slightly different so I made a quick design with what things I had left after the bouquets were made. I also made a small throwing bouquet, as I knew I couldn’t chuck my main one, as it would knock someone out!
Nita Patel of Petal Interiors provided all the fresh flowers for the church and the venue. I showed Nita my vision and then just left her to it. The results were fantastic. I used some of the table centrepieces from my sister’s wedding and added some vintage birdcages and candelabras.
I absolutely love sweets so I knew our favours were always going to be a jar of sweets. I had a bridesmaid night in where we made all the sweet jars. We named all the tables after retro sweets and each jar represented the table they were on. We also wanted to donate to Cancer Research, as this is something very close to our hearts.
My mum made our cake and we all enjoyed her practising (not that it helped with our waistlines though). When my mum showed us the cake she had made I was absolutely speechless, as it looked so professional. We had a personalised topper on it, which was me, Marc and our dog Oscar. It was from Angel in My Attic – the lady that made it asked for details of the bride, groom and clothing – the results were fantastic and the small details were great. This is a keepsake that will last forever.
Marc eats a lot so the food tasting was the one part of organising the wedding that Marc wanted to be involved in! We went to The Villa where Greg fed us the choice of menu and wine. I wanted a chocolate dessert and Marc wanted sticky toffee pudding – Marc won and I’m so glad he did, as it was yummy! We had canapés when the guests arrived which everyone commented on being great. I was worried that Marc and the guests would starve as the wedding breakfast was going to be after the speeches but there was definitely plenty of food!
I went to lots of wedding fairs to help me chose some entertainment for our big day! We really wanted something different and found these in the form of a caricaturist and a magician. Again, these went down really well with the guests. It was nice for the guests to have another keepsake from the wedding in the form of a caricature of themselves. I also asked my dad to make a vintage photo booth wall – something different to a normal photo booth. Dad didn’t let us down and made a wall with frames on where guests could take photos of themselves in the holes – all the guests loved this too.
Other extras on the day included a sweetie stall and a ‘cigar bar’ – an idea I’d seen in a wedding magazine and asked Marc if he would like one, which of course he did! All the male guests really enjoyed this.
We also had toiletry boxes in the toilets, flip-flops for sore feet and a ‘Wedding Survival Kit’. I made the survival kits and added things like earplugs and a salty snack to help with the hangover the next day!
Instead of having a guest book we had a wish tree, which Nita provided, and we gathered together photos, old and new, of family members on their wedding day. This was a lovely surprise to these family members.
We also wanted our dog to be involved in the day. He was at the dog sitters and I asked if they would bring him to the church once the service was over wearing his bow tie. It was great to have him involved in the photos.
I always knew I wanted to get married at The Villa – my sister was married there and it was fantastic. The organisers at the venue were great – they were always at the end of the phone or email. I’m a perfectionist and had perfected every detail up to the day of the wedding, and then I had to let go and let the venue do the rest! We took everything the day before the wedding and handed over to Michael Hails. He assured me that everything would be how I wish – and it was. They did an amazing job! They kept the day running smoothly and were very attentive of me and Marc ensuring we had food and drink at all times.
One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing Marc at the altar. All the hard work and organisation had finally come together. When we were saying our vows Marc had a lucky money spider on his head – I couldn’t stop looking at it! I knew the bridesmaids had seen it too as I could hear them giggling! I removed the spider at the end and put it in some nearby flowers. We took this as a lucky sign!
Marc’s brother and sister-in-law came over from America to join us on our wedding day so we enjoyed the week after our weddingwith them. The weather was fantastic and it was great to relax after the wedding. We are going on honeymoon to Gran Canaria in August.
My top tip to other Brides Up North would be to make some things for the wedding yourself if you can as it makes it more personal. I loved making everything myself from the invitations through to the bouquets. However I would also recommend that you do as much as you can in advance.
I would also recommend going back to the tradition of throwing the bouquet. I have been to quite a few recent weddings where this didn’t take place. I’m so glad we did it, as it was a highlight of my day seeing a friend practically push everyone out of the way to catch it!
Also, definitely get a make-up artist and hairdresser. The morning of the wedding was so relaxed as we didn’t need to worry about anything. The makeup artist and hairdresser told us where we had to be at what time. All I did in the morning was make brews and toast!
