Is there anything more perfect than bagging your dream dress at a fabulously discounted price? We think not!! And so we’re delighted to be brining you news of an exclusive autumn sample sale set to take place at Brides Up North Sponsor, LOVE Bridal Boutique in Altrincham, Cheshire, later this month.
Owner Emma Draper and her team will be hosting the event on Sunday 26th November 2017, that will see a selection of the gorgeous boutique’s designer gowns available at unbelievable prices – we’re talking dresses from as little as £200 ladies, meaning you’ll be able to afford those dream designer heels after all!
But this is a one-day, appointment-only event, so you’ve got to be quick off the mark to secure yourself an appointment, which could result in you being the proud owner of one of the stunning gowns featured in this post!
So, prepare to take note, as the lovely Emma is here with the all-important deets!
emma says: The sample sale will take place between 9.30am and 5pm on Sunday 26th November, with 45-minute appointments available.
The event will be an exciting opportunity to get your hands on the last few dresses I have from previous collections (including 2017 styles) to make way in the boutique for brand new arrivals.
Because we only have one of each of these samples available to buy, we are selling these beautiful gowns at a reduced price and, for those brides who have done their research, we can promise these are deals you won’t want to miss.
Sample sales are ideal for brides who yearn for a designer dress, but whose budget won’t quite stretch, for brides with less than six-months to go before their big day (so no time to order new) or for brides who know exactly what style and fit of dress suits them.
All the dresses on display are for sale ‘off the peg,’ available to take home with you on the day, and must be paid for in full, so we encourage bringing someone with you who is both honest and decisive!
The gowns included in this event generally range from a bridal size 10 to a size 12, but most can be taken in by up a couple of dress sizes too.
Don’t miss your chance to snap up your dream gown at a phenomenally lower price – when they’re gone, they’re gone!
To secure an appointment, email email@example.com, or call 0161 941 6446, but be quick! First come, first served!

Today’s bride and groom are perhaps among the cutest we’ve had on the blog. From their sweet proposal to their personal wedding ‘promises’ and their love of dancing together, it’s clear these too are totally smitten!
Having had her dream ring placed on her finger, Sara worked with Josh to come up with a wedding day that was true reflection of them as a couple, leading to a music theme for their big day.
Get ready for moving song choices, record décor, a guitar guest book and, of course, dancing!

sara says: Our engagement came about quite suddenly and was a modern joint decision, we’d been speaking about marriage and it was always as a certain ‘when’ not an ‘if’. One Saturday shopping in Manchester Josh suggested going into a jewellers and he then started looking at rings. He kept telling me to not getting excited it was simply just for future. After a few rings being tried on he went and paid for the ring that in his words, ‘made my eyes light up’. As soon as I saw the bag I got so excited but he kept saying that I needed to put it out of my mind. We followed up our day with a trip to the Cloud 23 bar at the Hilton to raise a glass to a very exciting future. Later I was happily gazing out the window at the sunny view when I turned back to face Josh and I realised he was on one knee. Suddenly everything else disappeared – the only thing I remember him saying was, “I don’t want to be engaged to you – but I want to marry you”. To add to this a lovely couple from Bermuda had been watching, they apparently sensed something as about to happen and started taking pictures and later approached us to get our details to share them. It’s thanks to them that we now have beautiful natural pictures of one of the most important moments in our lives.
We got married on 18th April 2015. We chose this date as we both agreed that we preferred the change of seasons the most and spring 2015 fitted nicely allowing us a comfortable 18 months to plan.
We quickly decided we wanted to get married in a venue that would be exclusive to us and our guests as we wanted it to be a personal and intimate day. We found a few places that fitted in budget and with our preferences. Styal Lodge was actually the first place we went to visit and from the minute we arrived there we fell completely in love, it was perfect. We loved how neutral it was meaning we could truly make it our own and how much light and nature still felt so close due to the big windows. Above all though the reason we chose the venue is due to the people who run it. Styal Lodge’s whole focus is weddings and so everyone is so passionate and dedicated to making your day wonderful.

One of my favourite ever scenes in Friends (hey, I’m a big fan!) is the one where Monica, Rachel and Phoebe head to the NYC dress sale to search for Monica’s dream wedding dress. Issued with whistles by the ever competitive Monica to attract attention if they locate the gown, the girls split up. A frenzied scene results in a tussle over tulle and Jennifer Aniston cowering under a rail of frocks, using her whistle to sound the search alarm.
Girls, now’s your chance to unleash your inner Monica.
Our North East readers are sorted for this weekend’s plans, but Cheshire ladies… clear your calendar.
The big north sample sale is brought to you by three leading bridal boutiques in the North-West – Agapé Bridal Boutique, Love Bridal Boutique and The White Closet, and will be held at one of Cheshire’s most popular and one of Brides Up North’s own favourite wedding venues (we’ll be here a month later for our fabulous Luxury & Vintage Wedding Exhibition), The Bowdon Rooms this Sunday 22nd February 2015.
This is the first collaboration of its kind in the North West, developed by three innovative boutiques who had the idea of bringing a host of leading bridal designers together all under one roof for Northern brides-to-be, offering a broad selection of bridal gown styles at amazing discounted prices.
Usually, a bridal boutique would host their own individual sample sale event meaning only a limited amount of brides are able to attend, with a smaller selection of dresses to choose from. The three boutiques involved pride themselves on being in tune with their brides, and knowing that the average bride likes to view a number of designers before making their final dress decision, what better way to present a sample sale than to bring the crème de la crème of bridal designers together for one exclusive event! The Big North Sample Sale allows a larger number of brides to attend and choose from a wide variety of fabulous gowns and designers.
With a collection of much sought after designers including Jenny Packham, Alan Hannah, Temperley London, Charlotte Balbier, Stephanie Allin, Stewart Parvin, Claire Pettibone, Amanda Wakeley, Terry Fox, Raimon Bundo, Ian Stuart and many many more, and with dresses available from £100 to £1700, this event is going to be seriously popular. There will also be a selection of accessories on offer too and some bridesmaid gowns. Savvy brides who know their designers, and appreciate great quality gowns will be in their element with dresses for sale at a fraction of the price. This event will also suit brides who have a shorter timescale to find their dress and whose only option may be to buy ‘off the rail’. Sample dress sizes range from 8-14.
all gowns featured are available to buy at the event
Brides will have the opportunity to try on gowns at the event, choosing a maximum of 2 at a time. There will be dedicated changing areas (predominantly communal changing areas with some private changing areas available too) and lots of mirrors around the venue. Brides are encouraged to wear nude underwear and also bring a pair of heels of the height they are thinking of wearing on their wedding day. Bridal experts from each boutique will also be on hand to offer any advice on any alterations required, recommended seamstress contacts, dry cleaning etc (alterations and dry cleaning are not included in the dress price) There is a strict girls only policy at the event too!
Payment for dresses will be by cash or card (Visa, Mastercard or Maestro).
Whistles at the ready!

Brides Up North Sponsor Emma of Love Bridal Boutique would like me to extend a fabulous invitation to my readers (because she knows you’re pretty fabulous too) to the wedding edit.
Happening this weekend – clear your diaries – on Sunday 26th October 2014, from 12pm at Styal Lodge, Cheshire, this event is your chance to see Love Bridal Boutique’s stunning new gowns in their catwalk show from some of Brides Up North’s favourite designers including Stewart Parvin, Raimon Bundo, Alan Hannah, Enzoani, Terry Fox, Mia Mia and Maids To Measure.
Emma says: It’s going to be an amazing catwalk show, showcasing all our designers’ new collections (including bridesmaids) and then there’s a unique opportunity to chat with all of our wedding friends who are there to offer their advice about all things wedding planning. There will also be a lot of prosecco and canapés!
Strictly no boys allowed.
This event is guest list only. To reserve your place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

“I approach designing a dress as if I have an artist’s brush and a blank canvas in my hands; I need the picture to move and change as your eyes wander across the design, focussing on detailed embellishment along the way, and finding something new and even more intriguing on the way back.” Terry Fox
Nothing like a bit of eye candy to get your Friday off to the right start, is there?
And this is the real deal.
First seen as an exclusive sneak peek in our Designer Preview post back in April, and still as boho and beautiful as ever, Terry Fox’s truly romantic collection for 2015 encapsulates “mystical creatures of the sea and the ancient call of the Siren song”.
Terry’s range stretches from gorgeously glamorous to simply elegant, or quirky, fun and vintage. The team say “All designs are hand made in the U.K., so you are guaranteed quality workmanship and a perfect fit by a team that really care about you and your special day. We also offer a bespoke service to customize and coordinate all the wedding party to add a touch of individuality, with great finishing touches.”
Pinterest fingers at the ready ladies…

Wrapping up last week’s fashion marathon as I recapped the catwalks I’d seen at White Gallery London, I thought I’d ease you into an equally fabulous (but perhaps not quite so manic from my POV) week with one last bit of eye candy… for now.
The Designer Preview catwalk showcases a selection of gowns from twelve big name designers and due to it’s eclectic and diverse collection is always a favourite of mine.
My take on this season is that it’s all about shape and detail – whether high fashion or big romance – as the bridal catwalks echo haute couture with high low hemlines, interesting backs, bold use of pattern, embellishment, fit and flare and florals, florals, florals. Colours are pale and interesting – a watercolour wash of pale pink, blues and greys.
I loved every second. And here’s my pick of the bunch…
A wonderful white-out that sang with style and luxury. The collection by Lusan Mandongus is vintage inspired with rich yet subtle details, incorporating different stunning features focusing on elements such as higher necklines, sleeves and peplum waist detail.
The Barcelona based label totally rocked it with their style setting detailed designs and rich handcrafted applications. Daring, stylish and different.
A Charlotte Balbier bride is a free spirit who expresses her personality and individuality through her Balbier designed gown. My favourite? Iscoyd Park, the collection’s title gown that Charlotte designed for her own evening reception.
Daring, different and sometimes (very seriously) barely there, these gowns raised a few eyebrows (and iPhones!) but I salute the risk taking label for putting a high fashion stamp on their collection. Avant garde meets ultimate fashion.
For the romantics. Naomi Neoh’s stunning skirts were dipped in a swish of pink for the prettiest wedding day look. And you know I love pink! The designer has taken inspiration from the glamour and romance of vintage Hollywood and her gowns are crafted from only the finest silks and French lace.
Just what it says on the tin: timeless, couture. Encapsulating elegance and glamour, with a dramatic and contemporary twist.
Boho and beautiful as ever, this truly romantic collection for 2015 encapsulates mystical creatures of the sea and the ancient call of the Siren song. Magical.
The Nordic signature of Sadoni expresses pure simplicity and understated luxury through their flowy, feminine silk dresses.
Sometimes better known for their twinkling bridal accessories and tiaras, Ivory & Co also specialises in stunning silk designer wedding dresses. I’m in love with the subtle, swishy, silky glamour of the gown above. One to add to your dress hunt for sure.
A unique collection from Australia’s leading designer, a new and updated take on vintage bridal style.
