mists & mellow fruitfulness… an autumnal styled bridal shoot at Bolton Castle

October 1st, 2014 | Julia Braime

a fairytale styled bridal shoot at Bolton Castle by JB Creatives (30)

Despite the driest September since records began, it definitely feels like the season is changing.  Dewy grass, crunching leaves underfoot and clear night skies can only mean that October, and with it autumn (my favourite season of all) has arrived.

I celebrate my fourth wedding anniversary in a fortnight’s time – a very busy fortnight, there’s a lot to get done between now and then – and I’m looking forward to taking some time with my husband to reflect on a very special time of year for the two of us.

For now though, let’s celebrate the fall with this beautiful styled bridal shoot, sent to me by Brides Up North Sponsors JB Creatives and Bolton Castle, and their fabulous team of talented industry experts.

There’s definitely something in the air…

With images by JB Creatives.

The team say: We set out to create some romantic, fairy tale castle wedding images that would compliment the venue and inspire couples that are considering getting married at Bolton Castle. Bolton Castle is a stunning venue. A wedding here would be an authentic Castle experience. It has great big fireplaces, turrets with circular stairs, stone floor, terraces with amazing view of the incredible Dales countryside around. We wanted to create an outside space that used the stunning views of the Dales and showcased the location of this fairy tale wedding venue and captured a set of beautiful images.

a fairytale styled bridal shoot at Bolton Castle by JB Creatives (37)

Amy of The Greenhouse Florist created an outside dining area for the bride and groom with the Dales as their backdrop, such a romantic and unique setting. We used a chaise longue in the field for some intermate photographs. We wanted to add props into the scenery that wouldn’t usually be in that situation. The chaise longue really made a beautiful contrast to the endless views of the green fields and dry stone walls and brought opulence and luxury to the historic setting. Simple yet effective.

Amy created beautiful flowers of soft creams, vanillas, pinks and apricots, punctuated with pops of zingy orange and flashes of blue.  She used lots of different textures in amongst luscious greenery.  The warm tones complimented to tones of the castle walls, and were highlighted against the grassy fields. She also made a jasmine and rose circlet, fragrant and beautiful with warm apricot tones complimenting the colours of Libby’s complexion.

Jane of JB Creatives made beautiful place names and menus for the bride and groom’s intermate dining experience. Her stationery designs are bespoke, beautiful and made to the high quality that will undoubtable exceed your expectations.

Jane photographed the couple in and around the castle using the gorgeous scenery and all the venues little quirky details to capture a set of beautiful images that tell a gorgeous love story. Jane’s fine art style is very much capturing the story of a wedding day as it unfolds with all the beautiful details and emotions that come with it.

Deborah and Kelly from Love Hair and Beauty Boutique Ripon did Libby’s hair and makeup to enhance that romantic, soft and warm tone we wanted for the shoot. The ladies are highly experienced and specialists in the wedding industry with a reputation for their creative skills and professionalism.

Kellie from Wedding Belles of Otley supplied the beautiful gowns, veils and accessories for the shoot. The dresses used in the shoot were Aubrey by Nicola Anne and Emily by White Rose.

Reassuringly Rustic. A Styled Inspiration Shoot At Camp Katur

September 18th, 2013 | Julia Braime

JB Creatives

This morning we are in Yorkshire for a (the title of this post says it all) reassuringly rustic styled wedding inspiration shoot sent to me by Amy and Nigel of The Greenhouse Florist, Ripon and Jane of JB Creatives.  Both companies are exhibiting at Brides Up North’s Luxury & Vintage Grand Wedding Exhibition at The National Railway Museum, York on Sunday 17th November 2013, so you can check out their talents first-hand then.  Click here to pre-register.

For now though, be assured that with Amy and Nigel on floral décor, vintage props and venue styling and Jane taking care of photography and stationery (plus a very special venue) that this was always going to be cool, quirky and utterly original.

JB Creatives

Amy and Nigel say:  We really enjoyed working with Jane and Kerry for this photo shoot. The Barn at Camp Katur is a fantastic venue within such an inspiring woodland setting. With all the fantastic glamping tents in the woods it makes for a perfect and unforgettable wedding venue.

JB Creatives

JB Creatives

We brought the woodland into the barn with the use of touches such as the tree branches hung from the rafters with ferns in mossed pots hanging down. The stag head worked brilliantly above our faux fireplace, created from wooden veg crates. I chose the bright summery tones of coral Peonies and blue Thistle and Delphiniums to add touches of colour to the lace covered banquet table piled with old books. There were arrangements in vintage flower pots and larger glass containers covered in chicken wire. The shiny silver candle sticks were added to give the impression of opulence in times gone by.

The old door which is one of a pair which we hire out and makes a fab table plan display which Jane (of JB Creatives) designed a beautiful coral seating plan for.

The banquet table was given the look of a luxury picnic, complete with hampers and old fashioned lemonade. The vintage items shown are available to hire from us.  The table plan, place names and wedding stationery made by JB Creatives. Beautifully bespoke wedding stationery individually designed and created for each and every couple. JB Creatives wedding stationery is made to the highest quality to suit any style of wedding.

Sparkly Shoes & British Blooms: A Real Wedding At Fountains Abbey In Yorkshire – Kairon & Trevor

September 3rd, 2012 | Julia Braime

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-BridalPrep1

.

.

It’s Monday.  It’s a five day week.  Bah.

.

I’m currently in recovery from a fabulous Brides Up North Wedding Exclusive at Nostell Priory – what a way to kick off the Autumn calendar!  Huge thanks to the fabulous Dine Services, the extended Brides Up North team, my amazing exhibitors and all the lovely brides and their guests who came out in absolute force to support the event.  What a brilliant day! (I love you all).

.

For those of you who are feeling just as tired as I am, I thought I’d lift the Monday blues with another elegant Real Wedding instalment, again using a royal blue colour scheme but with a different feel from our stunning sapphire toned wedding this morning. I really love that no two weddings are alike!  This time we are in Yorkshire at gorgeous Fountains Abbey, with images from JB Creatives and words by real bride Kairon.

.

And as an aside, how much do you love Kairon’s sparkly shoes?  I like them a lot.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Details111

.

.

Kairon says: Trevor proposed in February 2011 at home in the kitchen one evening and we were married on 1st June 2012 at Fountains Hall, Fountains Abbey, Ripon.

We wanted something that was a heritage site and we visited it with my family and had a great day out and decided there and then that we wanted to get married there. The atmosphere of the Hall and grounds was everything that we wanted. A traditional setting but so that we could skip the other wedding traditions and make the day our own.  We chose to have an elegant day with a royal blue colour scheme.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Details76

.

.

I wore a silk backless dress with a small flowing train and diamond details on the bust, lower back and front of dress. It went brilliantly with my sparkly shoes! I fell in love with my dress as soon as i saw it in The Bridal House in Leeds.  I initially saw a picture of it on a model on the wall in the shop and myself, my sister aka my maid of honour and general personal assistant and my mum all said the same thing “That would look lovely on you” and fortunately they had it in the shop.

.

We found Debonnesse online and she did my hair perfectly! My sister did the make up for everyone after we had all had make up lessons at MAC at Harvey Nichols.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-BridalPrep290

.

.

My maid of Honour and my bridesmaid were my sister and our cousin. They are both very different in looks and personality so I wanted something that they would both like and maybe wear again.  I really wanted them to wear something from Coast as I think the quality of their dresses are great. Fortunately we found a dress that was similar but came in different lengths to make them different from each other and the royal blue colour looked great with both their complexions.

.

The groom hired a suit from in Rodley which was recommended by one of his best friends. His best man wore a suit from his own eclectic collection.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Ceremony30

.

.

The flowers were from The Greenhouse Florist in Ripon and Amy did exactly what we wanted and managed this despite us being vague about what flowers we wanted. She kept them British and the colours that we specified.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Groups22

.

.

I carried a draping bouquet of royal blue delphiniums and white peonies with other traditional British flowers. The bridesmaids also had the same but small bouquets with no delphiums. The blue of the delphiniums really stood out against my white dress.

We had a lovely lady make our cake which was chocolate and Victoria sponge and covered in royal blue icing with some delicate touches. I would recommend Sugar Crafted Cakes.

.

We had Gin and Tonic and chocolate truffles as favours in miniature glasses and boxes with “drink me” and “eat me” on little labels very like Alice in Wonderland.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Evening17

.

.

A company called Taste Cuisine catered the drinks reception which was amazing and National Trust catered a BBQ for the evening reception which was also amazing, lots of yummy food to go round for all.

.

We had classical music playing during the wedding breakfast and a DJ at the evening reception.  Our DJ was a guy called Rob from BGN Events who was very accommodating to our different tastes. The groom is very much into punk and I prefer pop and current music. He managed to get all our requests on and mix the music well to suit all the guests.

.

.

JB-Creatives-fine-art-wedding-Evening357

.

.

We went to Whitby for a few days after the wedding and we are going to Florence in Italy in May.

.

.

.

.

My top tip for other Brides Up North would be to not over plan things and enjoy the day.  If the little things don’t go right it doesn’t matter as what matters is that you are spending the rest of your life with your soul mate.

.

.

Congratulations Kairon & Trevor!

.

.

JB Creatives would like me to let you know that she is currently offering a FREE engagement shoot for couples that book their wedding photography with her before the 14th September 2012.
