Wow, wow, TRIPLE wow – we are finishing the week off in spectacular style with a wedding that puts a huge smile on our faces, not only because it’s flippin’ gorgeous but also because the beautiful bride is a good industry friend of ours – the lovely Brooke, Weddings and Event Manager, at stunning venue Denton Hall, Ilkley, where we will be returning to on Sunday 4th November to host our Luxury Wedding Show with Brooke and the team.
Working in the world of weddings, Brooke was super clued-up when it came to picking the right setting and suppliers for her and beau Simon’s big day, which was a sensational rustic affair centred around a punchy pink colour palette and the most fabulous florals. From the perfect pastel blooms on Brookes a-maz-ing patterned gown (with pockets!!) to the incredible flower arrangements, arch and bouquet – we adore it all.
And the highlights don’t stop there – for this wedding was both pretty and personal, with Brooke and Simon adding some special touches in the form of DIY décor and sentimental polaroid pics – plus extra effort was put into the elements that mattered to them most with fine feasting and incredible entertainment playing a big part in the celebrations.
And just when you think it can’t get anymore perfect, they go and ask guests for donations to a local dogs’ home instead of gifts. Out and out sweethearts!
So, in true Brooke spirit (excuse the pun) pour yourself an extra-large ‘Friday feeling’ gin and tonic while feasting your eyes on this beauty…

brooke says: We got engaged in July 2016, while we were visiting friends at one of our favourite places – Guernsey. After a stroll on the beach, Simon gave me a hug and said he had been to see my parents earlier that week, I asked why, he then said because I want to know if you will marry me. And with this pulled out a beautiful wooden box which contained a diamond from Iain Henderson Designs. After saying yes and crying for about ten minutes, Simon explained that we could both then go together to see Iain and have the diamond created into a ring which we would design.
After returning home we started the process of getting our ring designed, the next big thing to think about was where and when. We didn’t really have a set date in mind, as the wanted to find the right venue first, but May always held a special place in our hearts as we met on the May bank holiday weekend many moons ago.
The venue was important to us and working in the wedding industry I know we are so spoiled up North for having some stunning venues right on our doorstep. We decided on East Riddlesden Hall. We often walked our dog around the river walk they have and always thought the barn looked beautiful set for weddings. It encapsulated everything we wanted – local enough for friends and family, a blank canvas, flexibility with food and drink, and a beautiful backdrop for photos.
We didn’t have a special theme or colour in mind for our day, we just wanted colour – and lots of it. We did end up going for colours that were a similar palette to those of my dress – lots of pastel colours with pink, purple, green and blue. Also, plenty of glittery bits because it’s not a party without something shiny.
I first saw my dress whilst perusing Instagram – it was actually a Brides Up North post! I knew I had to find this dress and try it on. The designer was Charlotte Balbier so I did some internet research and The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique in Pickering came up as a Charlotte Balbier stockist. I gave the lovely Diana a call and she arranged a time for me and mum to go to the boutique and see the dress. The design is called Untamed Love and features a beautiful coloured silk overlay with huge train. Once I had tried it on I knew the dress was meant for me, this was cemented even more when I realised it had pockets!
Simon had always said from the word go that he wanted to buy his suit rather than hire to ensure that it fit really well. To reflect the relaxed feel of the venue, he decided on a waistcoat and trousers combo. On a visit to Skipton one day we walked past Jenson Samuel on the high street and they had some lovely stuff in the window. Simon went in and spoke to the guys in the store who were amazing.
We bought all the groomsmen’s suits from Jenson Samuel in Skipton too, they were all Mark Darcey trousers and waistcoats. We also bought the shirts from Jenson Samuel. We wanted to buy rather than hire so the guys all had a thank you from the day, plus they could get them altered to fit perfectly.

Dedicated to bringing you all the latest bridal news hot of the press, we’ve got details of another new designer landing at one of our Sponsor boutiques – this time it’s one for all you Yorkshire brides-to-be.
As of December, the lovely Diana McMann, owner of The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique in Pickering, will welcome the beautiful ‘Shakespeare’ collection from Noya by Riki Dalal – making them the only stockist of this designer the county.
Perfect for brides keen to make a statement, the stunning collection features stand-out detailing, fabulous fabrics and figure-hugging silhouettes.
In-the-know Diana is here now to tell us more, including how to snap up an appointment at a special Designer Weekend, between Friday 10th and Sunday 12th November, where you lucky brides-to-be will be able to view and try on these truly lust-worthy creations…
How would you describe the style of the Noya by Riki Dalal designs and why are they a good fit for The Little Pearl?
diana says: Riki Dalal is world renowned for her exquisite, extravagant haute couture bridal gowns. Riki launched Noya, a luxury ready-to-wear collection, to enable brides to have that modern, fresh bridal look without the couture price tag.
Sexy and modern silhouettes with statement detailing are huge bridal trends at the moment, and something that was missing from my collections in the boutique. As soon as I saw the Noya collections I just knew it would be the perfect addition to the boutique.
Can you tell us a little about the Shakespeare collection?
The Shakespeare collection is inspired by the writers most powerful female characters. The collection is full of romance but with a bit of an edge! There’s shimmering tulles, 3D florals, luxurious laces and stunning embellishments. The collection has a real mix of unique styles too, from illusion beaded separate toppers paired with tiered tulle skirts, to sexy fitted gowns with dramatic lace over skirts.
Which design catches your eye most from the collection?
I am totally in love with Olivia from the Shakespeare collection. I love the separates look, even though you wouldn’t think this was a topper and skirt. The floral detailing and lace is out of this world, nothing like I’ve seen before!
What type of bride would the dresses appeal to?
The bride that wants to have that haute couture look, standing out from the crowd and highlighting their individuality.
What is the size range and price range of the collection?
The gowns range in price from £2,000 to £3,000, with sizes available to order up to an 18.
Do you have any events coming up that would be of interest to our readers?
To launch the collection into the boutique, we are hosting a Designer Weekend, on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November, at the boutique. The whole collection, plus gowns from the ‘Casablanca’ collection, will be here for brides to try on for the first time in Yorkshire! Every bride that finds their dream Noya gown will also receive a complimentary veil, plus lots of other treats too! Just contact us to book your exclusive appointment for this event!
What can brides expect from an appointment at The Little Pearl?
Every bride who comes to the boutique has the place completely to themselves. I love to get to know my brides, hear about their wedding plans and just have a really fun bridal experience. We chat through their bridal style, whilst I offer advice on different looks and how to accessorise too. The boutique is a really warm and relaxing environment for the bride and their guests, plus we always have lots of delicious treats too!

Today on the blog we bring you Hannah and Michael’s special day, at the beautiful five-star Grand Hotel and Spa, in York. The historic city was already close to the couple’s hearts and they were totally won over by the Edwardian venue’s truly romantic backdrop.
Opting for a gorgeous gold, bronze and blush pink colour scheme complemented by an abundance of candles, petals and even pom poms – this is a wedding exuding understated glamour and charm.
With images by Brides Up North Sponsor Richard Perry Photography.
hannah says: We got engaged at home, in our living room, on 13th April. Everything was pretty hectic as we were planning a move to the Middle East with Michael’s job. It was just perfect, I was sat playing with our little boy, Archie, and Michael literally gave me the shock of my life as he appeared with a box and got down on one knee to propose. I couldn’t believe it!
We got married on 4th August 2016 – we didn’t want to wait, plus I had always really wanted a summer wedding. With it being last minute, we were limited by dates but after settling on August, this date just seemed right.
Our wedding venue was The Grand Hotel and Spa, in York. We knew the venue had to be in York as it has a lot of special memories for us – from our first date to the birth of our son, as well as it being my hometown. I fell in love with The Grand Hotel from the moment I saw the grand boardroom; the venue’s elegance and history was just perfect.
Our wedding theme was vintage glamour with a touch of romance. I wanted something with class and sophistication, and once we found the venue, I knew that the grand features of the hotel would work perfectly. As for the colour scheme, this focused on gold, bronze and blush pink.
I found my wedding dress at The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique in North Yorkshire. I always knew this would be my starting place, as I know the owner Diana through a close friend. As soon as I stepped into the boutique I knew my dream dress would be in there, somewhere. After trying every different style and fit, I finally found the one – that butterfly feeling was most certainly there! I chose an Enzoani gown in ivory; a vintage style silk and lace embellished dress. It matched the venue and style of the wedding perfectly. I could not recommend Diana and The Little Pearl more. I had the most magical experience from start to finish and felt like a true princess. Diana didn’t miss a detail and would go out of her way to accommodate any request.

Ladies, if you’re on the dream dress hunt then grab a pen and prepare to take note, for we have news of an exciting event that features two of our fabulous Sponsors.
On Friday 21st October and Saturday 22nd October, the gorgeous Little Pearl Bridal Boutique in Pickering, Yorkshire, will be hosting a Sassi Holford and So Sassi collection preview, to which you are invited to attend. The exclusive event will feature the full range of dresses from Sassi’s new Twenty Seventeen collection, as well as stunning dresses from the So Sassi diffusion line.
Unsurprisingly appointments for this event are in high demand, so let’s not delay in handing over the blog to Little Pearl owner Diana, who can give us full details, including how to secure a place…
What can brides-to-be expect from the collection preview event include?
diana says: All of the gowns from Sassi’s new Twenty Seventeen collection, plus a selection of certain styles from her previous collections, will be in the boutique. We are also very excited to be hosting a So Sassi collection preview on the same day too. So Sassi is the diffusion line to Sassi Holford. This collection mixes Sassi’s signature elegant silhouettes with super-cute, fashion-focused styles.
Will there be any special treats in store?
Every Little Pearl event comes with lots of special treats, including fizz, cakes, luxury goody bags, and a £100 accessory voucher with any order placed on the day.
What would you say are the main benefits of the preview event for brides-to-be?
Not all of Sassi’s new collection has hit boutiques yet so this event allows brides exclusive access to Sassi’s whole collection in one place! Plus it’s a chance to enjoy lots of extra special treats too
How many appointments will be available on the day and how long will the appointments last?
Our collection preview will run across two days – Friday 21st October and Saturday 22nd October – to give more brides the chance to come and view and try on this stunning collection. Each appointment will last one hour and 15 minutes, with brides given exclusive use of the boutique during that time.
Tell us a little about the Sassi Holford collection…
The Twenty Seventeen collection encompasses beautifully fitted fishtails, subtle hints of colour, full skirted gowns, soft crepe skirts, rose satin belts and unique wrap coat gowns – perfect for the classically modern bride. Sassi has really pushed boundaries with her new collection, bringing more of a stylish yet tailored twist to the separates trend and, of course, I’m loving the increased introduction of colour into the collection.
And what about the So Sassi collection?
The So Sassi collection introduces details like high-lo hemlines and tops and full tulle skirts, just perfect for modern brides who like their bridal traditions with a creative twist. I love the fun element of the So Sassi collection and it still gives brides that amazing couture fit.

This afternoon on the blog we’re thrilled to bring you details of an upcoming event that features not one, but two, of our fabulous Sponsors.
Between Thursday 1st and Sunday 4th September, the gorgeous Little Pearl Bridal Boutique in Pickering, Yorkshire, will be hosting a Charlotte Balbier trunk show, so you ladies on the dress hunt book out a day in your diary asap!
The event will give brides-to-be the amazing opportunity to be among the first lucky ladies in Yorkshire to exclusively view and try on Charlotte Balbier’s brand new collection, ‘Untamed Love’ – which us girls here at Brides Up North HQ are totally head over heels for!
From exquisite back detail and fine fabrics to edgy separates and dreamy floral prints, this collection really does have an oh-so-pretty design for everyone, so our advice to you is to book an appointment for the trunk show, pronto!
Here to explain how to do just that, whilst telling us a little more about the Charlotte Balbier event and collection, is Little Pearl owner, the lovely Diana.
Tell us what brides-to-be can expect from the Charlotte Balbier trunk show…
diana says: As the exclusive North Yorkshire stockist of Charlotte Balbier, we are very proud to be hosting this event. The boutique will be transformed into a haven of bridal beauty with statement florals and soft flowing ethereal gowns, there really is a style for everyone within Charlotte’s new collection. I’m so excited to see brides-to-be trying on the dresses and hearing their thoughts on the collection too.
No Little Pearl event is complete without a gorgeous goody bag for our visiting brides, plus pink fizz, cakes and £100 accessory voucher for brides that find their gown during the trunk show!
What type of bride would you say the new Charlotte Balbier collection appeals to?
Charlotte’s new collection is perfect for brides who love fashion and style, and who really want to express their personality through their gown. This collection brings some stunning fresh designs and styles to the bridal world that we just know our #pearlsgirls are going to fall totally in love with!
Do you have any personal favourite designs from within the collection?
Luna is the ultimate in boho chic! Such a soft, romantic lace fabric and plunging neckline, she brings something unique to the boutique. It’s all about the florals for me too, so I cannot wait to see Untamed Love and Bloom gliding around the boutique at the event! We’ve had lots of requests about these gowns and I love that brides are wanting to push boundaries and go for a statement florals on their big day.
Is there anything brides can do in advance to prepare for the trunk show?
It will really help a bride if she has already tried on some different styles, and therefore has an idea of what she likes. Not to worry if they haven’t though as Charlotte’s collection has a range of styles, from fishtails to full skirted A-lines and more boho inspired designs – there’s something for everyone!
What are you looking forward to most about the event?
I love hosting events in the boutique and making appointments extra special for all of our visiting brides. It’s just the best feeling seeing lots of happy and excited ladies on their journey to finding their dream gown!
How do brides-to-be make an appointment to attend the trunk show?
The trunk show will run from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th September, so ladies should get in touch quickly to book their exclusive appointment. Due to popular demand for these appointments, we request a £20 deposit, which is refunded to ladies as soon as they arrive for their appointment.
